Hi, was just wondering if anyone can tell me where they bought their medications from in Australia, for overseas IVF/PGD?
I have been told it can makes a massive difference to cost depending on which pharmacy you choose, but wondering which ones are the best?
Is it possible to get any of them through Medicare? Or has anyone had any success with this?
TIA

You are best to get in touch with Vivienne form Gender Selection Australia she has a list of doctors (FS) hopefully in your area that will rewrite your scripts for you. These FS are usually on board with GS. the scripts won't be done on PBS so they just handwrite them on their script pads but it gets you your meds. Hope that helps.

Hi, most people have to pay full price for them which is expensive. Some people have found a FS that will rewrite their scripts on pbs but it's been quite rare on here. I found pharmacies that specialise in fertility drugs were the cheapest when I was looking.

Hi starandglitter, which pharmacies did you use? I'm also in Sydney.

I'm sure there's a few around but I used the one that's part of Westmead Hospital, they apparently have an IVF clinic there. One of the other chemists told me to use them and they were really good and understanding.

Thank you so much starsandglitter. This is soooo helpful. Appreciate the reply. You didn't happen to do rounds in Hawaii? Looking for recommendations and advise. Thanks

I enquired with Hawaii the cost was more than HRC and they also wanted you there for longer so although it seemed like a good alternative I decided it was better to go back to HRC again (haven't done that yet).

Thanks starsandglitter. Is it hundreds of dollars cheaper or say less than 50 dollars cheaper? (assuming this is non-PBS price). Just thinking if it's worth the trip for me!

Just give them a call if you can and they will tell you the price over the phone. I found the bigger issue locating all the meds at the one chemist but you could go to a few if it was worth the trip. It definitely wasn't hundreds of dollars cheaper but I can't recall exactly the difference.

Ok, good to know, thanks! I don't know what meds I will be on yet (pretesting results are being reviewed at the moment), but will call. Thank you.

Slate pharmacies in Newcastle have been really good, I think they exist elsewhere too. Good luck with everything Girls!
