Hi, this is my first time posting! I probably won't get all the abbreviations right, but I will try lol. My bf and I are attempting to sway for a girl... We have a 9 month old boy together, as well as children from our previous relationships. I am still breastfeeding and have had af for 3 cycles now. I have some questions about using opks, I have never used them before this month. I am using the clear blue ones and have been testing since af ended. I have not gotten a positive result yet, but have fertile signs like ewcm... so I'm not sure what that means/what to do. We wanted to try FR and 1 attempt during my fertile time or at +opk. We BD last night just to have an attempt in, incase the opk didn't read properly(is that possible). Tomorrow is CD12 and my cycle has been around 30 days. Should we consider ourselves in the 2ww and keep taking opk tests to see if a positive happens? Then if I get a positive BD once again? Thank you :)

Ok, so this morning I got a solid smiley face (peak fertility) after having no flashing smiley yesterday... we BD on Friday night, is that too far away from ovulation to get pg? We aren't in a rush to get pregnant, we really just want a girl. So I guess I'm wondering if BDing again will mess up the chance of a girl or should we just go with the one try from Friday? Sorry for the questions, this is all new to me and I just really want to up my chances for a girl!! :)

Hi and Welcome! I would keep having an attempt (BD) every 4 days (3 days in between attempts), in case the opks don't work for you. Opks sometimes don't work when breastfeeding.

Fingers crossed (FX) and good luck (GL) to you!

Jumping onto this thread!! It's CD 7 for me today. I usually get positive opk CD12-14.
This is my second month attempting and at the advice of atomic.. we are pretty much dropping all of sway tactics except diet and exercise. I'm going to either do ED4 with extra attempt at positive or maybe even do ED3. I just want to up my odds of conception this month. We are determined to get a summer baby!!

Good luck to all you ladies! Let's hope November is good to us all!! 😊

GL to you Robin! We had our attempt last night and are going to have another one tonight...hopefully! I only have one more cycle to try before my DH gets a vasectomy. He hasn't made an appointment yet so there's that. I go back and forth with wanting to be done with having kids and having one more. Hopefully if there is another little person waiting to join our family, they decide soon!

I posted this in Oct 2ww thread too but I think most ladies have moved over here. FF just told me that it can't figure out when I ovulated. It changes the date of ovulation depending on which mode I put it on. Can you guys please check it out and let me know what you think?

I would say you O'd cd 13 momamia. The temps are a bit odd so it is confusing FF. Do you feel like you ovulated?

XXforhubby
October 27th, 2016, 05:59 PM
I think you either ovulated on cd 13 or cd 14. I have a tendency to ovulate the day before my temp rise, but everyone is different. I'm sure once you have more temps, FF will assign you crosshairs. I would keep BDing E3D or E4D in case O is delayed. I'm sure glad I did this cycle I'm on, because I geared up to and didn't until much later. I'm on cd56, and I should O today or tomorrow!

I got a +opk on cd11. I used both wondfos and another cheapy brand. It seems like the cheapy brand are actually better for me because they showed that I had a +opk on both cd11 and cd12. So, I think the +opk on cd12 was the right one. I definitely ovulated. I personally think I ovulated on cd13. On cd14 I was no where near as bloated as cd11-13.

Good luck this month robin, also hoping November is your month too XX and one of your attempts brings you a bfp. Sorry momamia4 but I am not great a reading charts so can't really help you
I thought I was ovulating Wednesday with nearly positive opk wed am, faded in pm but more positive opk yesterday and O pains and positive opk again today so I am not sure now. Hoping yesterday or today is o day as had an attempt wed pm. Really hoping this is the month for all of us.

GL this month Robin! I'm moving on this board. We had an attempt Sunday night (CD14) and I got a peak reading on my CBD and Wondfo strip the morning of CD17 but we didn't make our attempt until last night CD18 because I wanted to stay with the pink friendly E4D so now I'm just hoping that I didn't miss the egg. I tried to use the CBD this morning but it kept saying there was an error with the test and I did it twice and I didn't want to waste anymore tests. I did take a Wondfo this morning it wasn't positive but the line was kind of dark. So am I 1DPO? GL everyone!!! I want to get pregnant this cycle because I'm tried of doing the cardio lol! I just hate exercising haha!

XXforhubby
October 28th, 2016, 11:19 AM
Welcome Ahorn! Unfortunately you can't go by the fading of opks to know when you've ovulated. The opks only measure the amount of LH in your system which can stay elevated while ovulation takes place.

Do you temp? Typically ovulation occurs 24-36 hours from the FIRST positive opk and can be as early as 12 hours or as late as 48 hours. Sometimes ovulation can be delayed, which happens quite a lot to us pink swayers! I would keep up BDing E4D well after you think you might have ovulated. I recommend BDing until CD21 or up until the latest you've ever ovulated, just in case.

FX and GL to you!

ahorn586
October 28th, 2016, 01:56 PM
Thanks XX! I don't temp but I probably will start if I don't get pregnant by January. I wouldn't even know how to start temping lol but I'll read up on it. According to my Ovia app I have 11 days until I can take a pregnancy test. I don't think the wait will be that bad especially since I've taken up crocheting as a hobby. DH calls me a little old lady lol.

LOL! I agree with Katt. You would think by now they would have come up with a way to know sooner.

momamia4
October 28th, 2016, 01:57 PM
FF wants me to discard the temp on cd10 or cd13. Either way, it says ovulation happened on cd12, so I'm 10dpo today.

Thank you! Fx for you too.

I've never had a chart look like this and I've been pregnant before. I'm excited but I could just end up with a pretty chart and no BFP.

I took a couple OPK (negative) this week and the lines aren't getting darker. 😞 I was hoping I could use them as an early predictor.

If my temps are high on Halloween I'll do a proper test then. So hard not to obsess over the weekend.

Your chart looks great! My chart was simular last pregnancy for me!! Can't wait for you to test!

It's cd9 for me today and I think I'll do an attempt tonight. I plan on doing cd9, cd12, cd14, cd15, cd18 (assuming I o on day 14 that is)
Ed3 at this point.
I feel almost like my girl sway is now basically nothing. I am just wanting to ensure I get pregnant this month.
Has anyone ever even heard of a person getting a girl with ED3?
The other options are ED4/one attempt but that didn't work last month for us.
We could try everyday as hubby said! 😂

I really don't know what to do anymore.

FX to anyone testing soon! I'm so excited for everyone! I'm 5dpo I think, that's what FF says anyway. I've never charted or anything and always get pregnant easily so this is all new to me! We BD 2-3 days before and 1 day after FF says I ovulated so I'm not sure if we really have a chance this month. We hope to find out before this coming weekend so we can share with my SO's sister when she visits, but I think it might be too soon for a pg test to work.
Quick question, I would like to start temping if I don't get a BFP this month. How do you do that if your up multiple times with a little one to breastfeed?

Drat! I can't stay away a couple days without a half-hour of catch-up reading! Moving over here because there's no sense in testing today.

So sorry about the bad news. Momamia, you will be missed! I hope your TTC break is rejuvenating and that your holidays are filled with family love.

And MeanVeggieGal your chart looked so good in earlier posts! Robin's right, you're not out until AF shows.

As for me - a dip below coverline today, and a smidgen of light brown spotting. I'm just not worrying about it. Thinking I might hold out until 18dpo/day 31 to test (I haven't had a 31 day cycle in years). I'm being ridonkulously cheap with my HPTs so would rather not waste one on a BFN. Plus, DH said he wanted to be there to see the results (reading only, not for the peeing part!). We'll see if he can actually get up in time for FMU!

goodluck everyone! Im 8dpo today. Crossing my fingers I can get past the next 2 days without AF showing. I am so over this 9-10 day luteal phase ruining everything. I have tried quite a few different things this month including dropping breastfeeds. Nervous about taking iron & zinc supps before I found out that my levels were actually ok. Happy that we BD every 4days &one ended up being at +opk. A little sad that I have had to reduce my breastfeeds from 3 to 2 a day to see if that helps lower my prolactin & raise my progesterone. Fingers crossed everyone!

FX and GL Robin!!!

MeanVeggie Gal- I hope AF stays away!!!

AFM I guess I'm 5 DPO according to my FF app but since I didn't ovulate until CD17 or CD18 it put me at a 32 day cycle. However, on my Ovia app it still has me a 28 day cycle so I'm confused about that. I'm also trying my hardest not to symptom spot but it's really hard lol! Also, for those who are doing cardio are you keeping up with it during the TWW? I'm just so unmotivated now...

Having a tiny bit of pink spotting, so I think af is almost here. [emoji20] That puts my luteal phase at 8 or 9 days at the most. Have any of you had success with lengthening your lp? I've heard of progesterone cream. Can that be bought over the counter?

Katt - I use maca powder to raise my progesterone levels. I believe it may lengthen your LP, but I'm not positive. Maybe try researching it to see if it does? It has most certainly raised my post ovulation temps from the previous month.

November 2nd, 2016, 09:34 AM
KC- what is your BD schedule like? I am betting you are ovulating much later than you think you are. I found that when I really paid attention during my 2ww I was absolutely ravenous the day of or day before ovulation..I thought of course I had already ovulated but in fact knowing what I know now I had not as my dates were off 2-3 days. Come to find out it's actually pretty common for pink moms (so I'd assume pink swayers too) to have spikes in their hunger at or during ovulation...probably to do with the normal LE lifestyle and your body trying to ramp up everything it needs on such a restrictive diet.

I'd imagine even someone who ovulated fast when they got their boys would have a delay in egg release on the pink diet. An example as a pink mom..two pregnancies now I ovulated 3 days after my solid smiley face. With DD3 I had a positive Friday night but her dates show her conceived on Sunday night Monday morning.. with DD4 I had a positive OPK at 12 am Wednesday and still didn't ovulate until Saturday morning it seems. Watch for those hunger spikes and see if they correlate with a temp rise or fertile CM because depending on your Bd schedule you may be missing the egg. And I know sperm can live for days but that's just it.. not every mans sperm WILL live that long and it's impossible to know what's going on inside our bodies in regards to that knowledge

I had regular blood tests through this cycle & it confirmed what I already knew. I have really strong ovulation signs each month (drop in breastmilk supply, tender nipples, flat open cervix, ewmc at +opk), then the next day I always get bad cramping which would have to be ovulation. Im ovulating around CD19/20 each month. My problem at the moment is a 9-10 day luteal phase. Im trying a few things to extend it but nothing has worked so far.

Awweeeeee no sorry katt!
Personally I am now doing DTD alot.
CD 9, CD 12, CD13,CD 14, CD15, CD16
Lol!
I got a more positive opk today.. but still not a solid smiley (which means not peak day of ovulation yet) so I'm just going to continue on DTD everyday!

I just went back and read the thread "how we made our girls " and lots of those woman did diet and DTD everyday.. or just lots of times around "O".
I don't know if my plan is solid but I feel confident knowing I am trying everything I can this time around.
Also I 100% know my boys were made with DTD every other day. Never have we DTD everyday And of course diet has changed dramatically.

So even when you get a solid smiley.. it could still be days away from o?

Solid smiley can be anywhere from 24-48 hours before O as a general rule, and then many times there are exceptions where people get that first solid 48-72 hours before!

Burakoam
November 2nd, 2016, 06:07 PM
And in my case and a few others Robin, i got a solid and then didn't ovulate.. 5 days later had another solid and then DID ovulate. People should be on the lookout for that possibility too.

atomic sagebrush
November 2nd, 2016, 06:13 PM
^^^^ :agree: that is also a possibility - you can gear up to ovulate and then your body just decides "eh not yet" and waits a few days or a week and then actually surges again and O's. :)

Hello everyone! :: raises hand:: Two days after we BD we planned on impromptu trip to Disney World at the beginning of December! I will be seven weeks at that point if I do get pregnant. I'm so worried I'm going to be sick and tired for the whole trip!! I'm very nervous to find out if I'm pregnant or not and very conflicted. I don't want to keep up with this diet and exercise anymore but I wouldn't mind trying next month and not being pregnant for our trip. I have a feeling I'm not pregnant. And it's only our first month trying so we will see what happens!!

So it's been a really weird week, sorry for the book in advance :).

Tuesday the owners of our company came for a visit to inform management that they sold the business 5 weeks ago; They have a contract to stay on for 3 years. Don't have a whole lot of info on the new owners but some of the work will be moved overseas. I think management is safe for a couple years but who knows. The kicker is they said their goal is to get us moved onto the new company payroll on 1/1/17 so that would mean we would have to change to their insurance. Just from what they said about other benefits, they have a non matching 401K which sucks, so I am not expecting there insurance to be stellar.

The thing keeping me going after all this time and losses was having my backup plan which was always IVF; since my current insurance covers 4 cycles, which is pretty much unheard of to be covered. So my plan before last week was to do medicated cycles to the end of the year. Then go natural for a few months to lose the 20 pounds I need to lose in order to qualify for the IVF and then in spring if not pregnant to try an IVF cycle. Those plans flew out the window Tuesday and I felt really down. I joked with my husband about doing a crash diet to try and time a attempt before losing benefits but didn't think there would be time.

So yesterday I had my already scheduled beginning of a new cycle doctor visit with RE. She said basically my next step should be IVF since nothing else was working and asked if IVF would be a possibility. I told her up until a few days ago I would have said yes, she asked what changed and told her about losing my good insurance at the end of the year. She asked if I wanted to try to get a cycle in but I told her I couldn't because I was over the weight limit by 20 pounds. Long story short, she got approval for me from the group to do the IVF procedure even though I am over the weight limit. So I start on birth control pills today to get ready for my IVF cycle in December, starting a low calorie diet on Monday to try and get some of the weight off before the procedure for my own peace of mind to give myself the best odds of success. Fingers crossed this works and I get a BFP since I won't be able to try another round most likely.

Good luck to everyone still trying, I really hope you get your BFP's soon.

OMG Tfahn! This is really good news! I have such good feelings about this! I am hoping and praying that this does the trick!

Well December is the cut off for me. We made an appointment for my DH to get a vasectomy. I want to be done. We will keep trying until then though. I'm feeling more at peace and content with our family. Some acquaintances at my DS2's preschool are pregnant and one had a baby last week. I am genuinely happy for them, and I haven't had the least bit of envy or broodiness! While I'm not quite at the point where I feel like I'm glad it's not me, I am no longer negatively effected by other people being pregnant or giving birth.

:omg::running: BFP at 3an this morning! I am cd12 & I just couldnt wait any longer. 40 weeks on LE diet, 17kg lighter than when I conceived ds1, still bf. I have to say if I dont get my pink bundle I gave it a bloody good try.

I have been troubled with a short luteal phase & super light periods since I started the LE diet. AF has only been 18-24hrs at best & very very light. We had 4 attempt months in total This month we essentially had one attempt at opk (we were BD e4d with hubby releasing after 2), I dropped 1 breastfeed a day (so still bf morning & night twice in toral) from our attempt incase my raised prolactin levels were lowering my progesterone & inhibiting implantation. I also atea slice of pineapple for 5 days after ovulation. I was also eating full fat dairy once a day, fish once a week & eating at the upper end of the LE diet to maintain weight (I couldnt afford to drop anymore).

This month I have felt eerily calm & the least stressed of all our attempt months. I cant explain it. I did eat breakfast a few times before ovulation as I wondered that the prolonged fasting was causing increased cortisol & more stress so perhaps thats it. I certainly didnt think about food quite so much so maybe that was the key. Knowing that I can now go eat a steak for dinner tonight is also very exciting.

I wish you all luck in this next month! Hang in there. I have watched others BFP with some envy & your turn will come. Blue swayers you can have all of my blue dust & girl mums send your pink dust to me! Fingers crossed this is a sticky bean.

When you said how tired you were the last few days I was hoping that was a sign since I was exhausted during the 2WW (even though I didn't actually know I was in the 2WW yet). Your AF sounds just like mine were, no longer than 24 hours. I also did e4d (well 3.5) pattern the cycle I got BFP and I think all ladies should try for that because it seems so successful.

So question for you ladies.
I do OPKS and charting. Last month I got positive opk day 14 but my chart never confirmed ovulation on that day.
This month I got flashing smiley and positive opk on cd14. Never got solid smiley. Fertility friend is calculating O at day 13 and another app I have is putting it at cd11. My question is..
Which day do you think I o'd on and is it possible to get positive OPKS AFTER ovulation?

Robin- FF and other apps use a formula to calculate O based on your temps and other data that you input. It's all a best guess.

Based on your temps, CM, and opk, I would say the range you could have ovulated would be from cd11-cd14. I suspect you Oed sometime between CD13-14. I think FF has it right.

FX and GL to you!!

I need your advice ladies! I feel like AF is on her way. If this were your last cycle to TTC, what would you do:

a) Take 100mg Clomid cd1-5 (recommended by my RE) OR

b) Take nothing and BD either E3D or E4D until 12/20 when we will have to BD everyday to deplete DH when he gets a vasectomy.

Thanks ladies! I'm fully on board with the vasectomy, since I go back and forth with wanting another child.

Oh, I'm so sorry about your loss, ME Mom, that sounds so hard. I hope you're healing well physically and have good support. Huge hugs.

Late to the party - work was busy last week and the whole city was celebrating the Cubs win. Congrats KC and Cassidy!!!

TFahn exciting news on the IVF moving forward!

XX I hope it's not AF but you know your body best. I think either choice is good. Clomid can work wonders but is the small risk of side effects, you'd only be taking it one cycle so SE are probably nil for you. Either way I am happy you don't have baby envy; it sounds like you've reached the peace you were seeking months ago with the vasectomy. But if there is a secret XX baby I will be so happy!

As for me, CD1. I'm not stressing too much right now, though it does feel like a LONG time since I've had a regular breakfast! Mostly I'm annoyed that SIX days prior to AF this cycle I had some spotting every. Single. Day. Also the variable luteal phase thing is getting to me. I haven't started using OPKs to confirm O, just temps and CM (when I have enough), but I swear O day was day 14 for 4 of the last 6 cycles and day 13 for the others (basically consistent), while luteal phase went 10 days, then 14, then 15, then 12, then 13. According to TCOYF if you have variable cycle length it's supposed to be the other way around (variable follicular phase, stable luteal phase). What gives? Just LE diet/intermittent fasting weirdness?

MeanVeggieGal
November 6th, 2016, 09:47 PM
I totally understand about varying LP. Mine has been anywhere from 14 -18 days in the past. I too read in TCOYF it shouldn't very more than a couple days. Can't figure it out either Mad Sway...

Good luck this cycle!

GirlieCat
November 6th, 2016, 10:24 PM
Mad and MeanVeggie, lots and lots of ladies have said the same thing about their LP changing when on the LE diet. It is very common. Atomic has lots of advice to help with cycle changes on LE. I believe one is adding in a serving of full fat dairy daily (but not certain). Clomid also helps with short LP if you can get clomid.

I guess me. I thought AF was coming yesterday, since I had some brown spotting. Well, it's gone now. Of course I didn't test this morning, because I was certain AF would show. I didn't take my temp either, that's how. certain I was! I hate that this is getting my hopes up...I'm trying to be realistic though. I'm torn! I may wait it out until Friday to give the witch plenty of time to pay me a visit. I will take my temp in the morning to see what it is. I'm curious to see if it went back up.

It's crazy though. I hesitate to call it spotting. It was more like discharge yesterday and today it looks like serous fluid- pinkish, orangish, yellowish and only when I check. Nothing when I wipe.

I swear I've had something like this happen before and it always ends with AF showing up. I just want to be extra careful, since I'm planning on taking the Clomid. I'll definitely take a test out of precaution before I take it, if I get to take it that is!

Damn body! At least my LP is fixed. There's that.

Fingers crossed for you xx, I really hope AF stays away.
I am waiting to test, 11dpo today. Had a small amount of brown tinged cm yesterday (tmi) which coincided with about 3 hours of intermittent sharp stabbing pain in my right pelvic area so I am worried if I was pregnant that it didn't stick as the pain was quite intense and I don't think implantation is supposed to be that painful. I have also had AF cramps on and off for two days so sure the witch will arrive today or in the next few days.
Fingers crossed for those still waiting to test or waiting to attempt.

I really hope so but I have never experienced pain like this before when pregnant with DS. It was that bad I had to stop walking (was at shop with DS) and the stabbing pain was over several hours so I am not that optimistic but will wait another day or two to see if the witch arrives. I tried pineapple core this month so hoping that might have helped and maybe there is a chance I have a sticky bean.

I too maybe experiencing implantation bleeding. On Sunday I had brown CM once when checking. Then yesterday I had light pink CM only when wiping. Today I had a HIGH temp and some red CM.

I'm going to test Friday to give AF plenty of time to decide to show up. I'll be 16dpo then. This temp rise this morning though...it's hard to not get my hopes up...99.6 degrees...confirmed by an oral temp using another thermometer (I temp vaginally)...Damn body messing with my heart!

Sorry Kelbear. Are your cycles regular? What attempt pattern have you been using (1 attempt at +OPK, e4d, SMEP)?

Kelbear
November 8th, 2016, 10:48 PM
We have been trying 1 attempt at positive opk. I think I will try to convince hubby to do e4d next month but will be more diffult as I will be back on shift work. My cycles are fairly regular 27-29 days with ovulation usually around cd12-14. Not sure if we are missing the egg or what is going on. I wouldn't be so upset except I really felt pregnant these last few days with symptom that I never get pre AF. Oh well, just my body playing tricks on me.

November 8th, 2016, 10:57 PM
I would try to move to E4D, Kelbear. I'm still hoping AF stays away for you!

I hate how our bodies play with our hearts so much when TTCing. I was doing just fine until my high temp this morning and now the red/brown (more brown than red) CM is gone! Ugh! I'm like if AF is going to come, then just start already! I hate mind games and that is what this feels like!

I should test too, but I'm too chicken! I'd rather wait for AF. I'm definitely testing on Friday though.

Hello everyone Im back, had another attempt in October, but again no luck AF came like always, it isso crazy, because its never taken so long to get pg we had tried 3 months now, and nothing. We used baking soda the first two times and and this time did not use it because I was so sure thats why I did not get pregnant. I think we are going to start bding every 2 days once AF leaves. I see that I have alot of CM about 4 to 5 days before I get + on ovulation strips and then the day I get my + I have no cm, I am hoping for my BFF this month, and I hope the same for all of you, this can be a really depressing thing when you think and feel like ok this is month, but nope AF shows up. @XXforhubby I hope you get your bfp I've been hoping for a while GL:)

No, I don't feel feverish at all. Maybe warmer than usual, but not like I'm sick or anything. The thing is, I don't have any real symptoms like I had with my 3 boys. If I were pressed to come up with something, maybe more tired (but my DS3 is teething right now), more thirsty, and very tender nipples (I can get this before AF sometimes). Who knows! I know every pregnancy can be different but this would be VERY different!

I may cave and test. I expect it to be negative though. If I implanted on Sunday, I may not get a positive yet.

I know every BFN is a blow to the spirit even if you are at peace ultimately with not having anymore XX but you CAN cave and look at it as you still have 2 days before that BFN would be a for sure BFN...there is always the denial of 'it was too early' until its not too early anymore...and you MAY be shocked at what the test says ;)

with this cycle and the one coming up being your last chance id be using those pregnancy tests so that by the end of the next cycle they are gone wether you are pregnant or not :) at least then you used something you put money into! lol

Aw, It's just the luck of the draw. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. I tested to be sure, because I wanted to take Clomid. My test was faint this morning, so I went in for a blood draw. It is below normal limits, 9, and my RE said to go ahead and take the Clomid. I wasn't sure I was going to take it, but I think I am so I can feel like I've done all that I can. Ok, Really feeling confused at what to do right now. Would love some Opinions.

As I posted a few days ago, my good insurance will most likely be ending at the end of the year due to my company being sold. So since my insurance covers IVF, if we want to go that route we have to start a cycle really soon. I started the process, but didn't sign any paperwork. Did the Sono Hsg and today all the drugs arrived; seeing all those meds really has me second guessing this decision.

We both would love a second child, one the biggest reasons being giving our DD a sibling. In normal life I really try to eat Non gmo/ organic as much as possible , use natural beauty products and natural cleaners around the house. So the thought of putting all those meds in my body goes against a lot of how I like to live.

My husband already thinks IVF is going against nature somewhat. He did agree to do a cycle and does want another baby but he says that it's my body that will take the brunt of it. I just worry about long term side effects of messing with my body, what if it increases your risk of cancer, some studies says it does others say they don't. (My Mother died of Cancer 5 years ago and it's certainly something that weighs on my mind which is why I started living cleaner starting 5 years ago.)

Just hate having to make this decision in such a short amount of time. If I turn it down now and lose the insurance next month, we would not be able to afford IVF later on down the road due to the costs. Part of me is really thinking of stopping this process now and just continue to try naturally, and it I get pregnant then it was meant to be.

Sorry for the long post but this decision is making me emotional and needed to let it out.

Kelbear
November 11th, 2016, 12:04 AM
Tfahn I hope you can make the decisions that you need to, it must be tough to make the decision to go the IVF route regardless, but especially difficult if you have time pressures weighing on your mind. I don't know enough about the meds to give you any useful advise, the only advise I can give you is to think about how you will most likely feel if you don't try IVF, if you will later regret it or if you are ok in knowing that if it doesn't happen naturally that is meant to be. Go with your heart and what will make you happy. Sorry I can't be any more help to you.

GirlieCat
November 11th, 2016, 12:37 AM
Hi tfahn, you definitely have a big decision ahead of you. It really comes down to your hearts desire and if you will regret not doing it. Picture yourself 6, 9, 12 down the line...if you don't get pregnant naturally how will you feel? You have already tried some meds and IUI so how did those make you feel in terms of unnatural?

Most woman, either for infertility or gender selection, would kill to have an insurance plan that would pay for it (I know I would). I have never heard of that so consider that in your decision too. This is a very unique opportunity.

FX with whatever you decide.

tfahn
November 11th, 2016, 09:28 AM
Thanks Kelbear and GirlieCat. I think it comes down to feeling rushed into the decision and not having a backup plan if we skip this cycle as we can't decide later to try ivf, I am really going to try and think it over this weekend and try to decide what to do. I know a lot of people would love the chance at IVF but can't afford it, we would not even consider doing this if the insurance wouldn't cover it. I think already having 1 child sways into my decision as well. I can say with 100% certainty if I had no other children and this was my one shot at having one I would most likely go through with the IVF cycle.

In the past I did take some of the medications and didn't go into that lightly. But they were such small doses for only 5 days max. In my previous Gonal F cycle I only injected 75 units for 4-5 days. In the IVF cycle it would jump to 300 units every day for 12 days at least. Plus there is 5 boxes of another medication, 5 days of anti biotics, a trigger shot, and a different progesterone supplement for afterwards. I think it was just overwhelming to get all that medication at once and think about it all going into my body.

Both me and my husband also think being on the birth control pills this month might help too. That maybe it will regulate/balance my hormones and I might be able to conceive naturally after stopping them( Could also be wishful thinking). We got pregnant with our first child 2 months after stopping the pills after being on them for 18 years. With all the tests coming back normal and only being diagnosed as unexplained infertility, really there is nothing stopping my body that I know of.

MeanVeggieGal
November 11th, 2016, 09:44 AM
Tfahn- have you looked into herbs to help balance/regulate your hormones? I use maca root and Ashwagandha powder and they do a wonderful job of helping the body maintain homeostasis.

I know it takes time to research herbs and see how the body reacts/adjusts to them; but you can exercise this choice after your insurance no longer covers IVF.

Good luck to you and your family on a difficult decision.

Aw, Kelbear, I think we all know CD1 disappointment. Treat yourself to a drink, or otherwise pamper yourself?

Anyone else still in the TWW? I'm starting to feel like we're all cycling together.

I'm currently CD 18..We did one attempt at positive opk on CD 14. Fairly sure I o'd on CD15..It's our second month trying..but I was on clomid last month and now I'm on femara..so that might be why Atomic had us do one attempt and then q4day. Are u on any meds?

This will just be my 2nd month...

I am on metformin for my pcos and Atomic had me do 1 attempt at first +opk, she said if we wanted we could to the e4d since my cycles can be irregular which would take the stress off of that. But this was our first attempt/cycle swaying, so I decided to just do the first +opk for a couple months first and then go from there. It's totally up to you though!! I think either way is just fine :)

Anyone else waiting to test or O?

No not on any meds. I conceive my others fairly quickly when coming off the pill. I'm currently on CD9 and will start doing OPKs in the morning just to check if I'm ovulating this month because I know that our bodies can go kinda wacky when coming off the pill. For right now I think I'm going to go with 1 attempt at +OPK.

Pretty sure I am having a chemical. Tests have gotten lighter over the past few days and this morning basically a BFN on a frer with smu. My temp dropped today just below cover. This is beyond devastating. I am not sure what I am going to do now. Also for some reason my wondfo OPK result line was darker than result line...so who the heck knows what my body is doing.
Good luck to all the ladies waiting to attempt and test.

Oh Robin, I'm sorry. Any signs of bleeding or anything? I remember my temp dropped significantly a few days after I got my BFP with one of my pregnancies and it ended up being nothing, I think it was DS1. The stress is the worst.

Hi ladies - sorry to say, I'll be joining you again. I went to have my first ultrasound on Thursday after some bleeding and found out I had a blighted ovum at 9 weeks. I'm scheduled for a d&c on Monday. Very sad, but I'm okay, and going to keep TTC, not sure how long it will take to get back to normal. I'll probably be around more in December.

I quickly caught up on this thread, sorry to about your losses XX and Robin. This is a grueling process sometimes. : (

Hello everyone Im hoping that I am now in the 2ww, Ive had a positive OPK for 3 days now which has never happened before, this month we bd every other day, because I just am not getting pregnant for some reason this is going on our 4 month trying. With our 4 daughters it was a 1 try and I was pregnant, but now trying for a boy and it feels like it's taking forever. I just hoping to get a BFP this month.
