Hi,
I just discovered this website today. DH and I have been TTC girl for a few months using shettles timing with no success. I would like to try some of the other techniques suggested on this site...but there are so many. I am currently on CD 9 and I have very regular 28-29 day cycles so I expect to O this weekend. Is there anything I can do now, this week to sway girl? I am taking calcium & magnesium supplements and I also just started acupuncture. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Hey , I'm also pretty new but the best advice I've been getting is to stick to the LE diet for at least 12 weeks

I believe calcium and magnesium are now thought to sway boy (any supplements are) and so is acupuncture. Timing isn't believed to sway at all anymore. The one thing I can think of that you could do now in such a short time is to have only one attempt at your first positive opk. The most important part of a sway is diet but it's really suggested to be on that for at least a couple months before trying. The best results come from being on it 12 weeks but I believe anything over 6 gets better results than no le diet at all.

Agree completely with thinking...supp sway blue and timing is no good. At such short notice your best bet is one attempt only at +OPK. But if you can wait, diet for 12 weeks and drop all supps in that time too. Good luck.

Ok thanks for the advice. So I'm supposed to eat calcium rich foods? I will stop taking the supplements and cancel my acupuncture appt. I did notice after further reading that I already meet some of the girl sway suggestions- I workout 5 to 6 days per week but I have always done that and I have conceived two boys. I don't eat much salt and I drink a lot of Diet Coke. Also frequently skip breakfast. What about taking sudafed?
Also, I'm avoiding "O" when we bd because I've read that may sway and I know I had the big O when I conceived my boys.
I was just reading the "how we got our girls" thread and a lot of them mentioned that they bd often up to ovulation. So which is better one attempt or frequent bd? Sorry lots of questions, thanks so much for advice!!!

Frequent attempts were the advice a few years ago but the stats aren't supporting that whereas only one attempt is doing well. If you can't wait till next cycle then yes drop supplements and only one attempt in your fertile window.

If you're really keen on swaying pink then wait for a couple of cycles. Continue with your workouts, making sure you're doing it 5-7 times a week for at least 60mins per session (I.e. all in one go, not a 20 min session and and 40 min session later).

The LE (low everything) diet is having great results. It basically means to stick to 1500-1800 calories a day in either two or three meals (no snacking in between) allowing your blood sugars to be low for a while say by skipping breakfast. Within these calories you need to eat 40-50g protein and 50-60g fat a day. Read the LE diet thread for ideas or buy a diet plan from Atomic who's the brains behind it.

Calcium and magnesium are thought to sway blue as are most other things that boost fertility.

Avoiding the big O seems to have a small impact on the stats as does taking antihistamine for example but not huge. Timing and sexual position don't seem to sway.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the recommendations weezie. I'm on the fence as to whether or not I want to just skip this month all together or not. We've been trying shettles for a while so I'm getting impatient but I really want my girl :)
A few more questions, you mention that calcium & magnesium sway boy, but on the most recently published girl sway spreadsheet it indicates at 69.77% success rate for cal + mag. So I'm still confused on that... also, am I correct in my thinking that I should be eating lots of calcium? I already do that but if I need to stop I can, I just love cheese, milk etc so that's easy for me to follow.
The Le diet is a little harder for me because I work out a lot and I get hungry! :)
Also, is there a list of the acronyms? I don't know what j&d means? Or Cfr?
Thanks again for advice & guidance!!!!

I'm sure Atomic will reply RE minerals but my understanding was as we're trying to reduce our fertility we shouldn't take any supplements except folic acid.

Shettles has been debunked I believe because no researchers have ever managed to replicate his results. DS2 (Dear Son 2) was conceived four days before ovulation!

J&D means jump and dump, i.e. getting up immediately after sex and going to the loo!
CFR is compressed frequent release i think, but I can't explain that one very well!

Hi and welcome!!

The most important thing to do at the last minute is sticking with one attempt. If you're ready to give up timing, that's great (I do not believe timing does anything other than prevent conception) but just be sure you have one attempt at a point in time that is good for conception - O-1 is best with swaying, if you really can't give timing up O-2 is also ok odds of conception and if you were doing a super long cutoff, will be a huge imprvement in your odds of getting pregnant this cycle!

Re minerals - while they certainly did not work for me and the science doesn't support the idea, some people really want to use them. It's your sway, your way - the catch is that if you are a cal-mag believer, PLEASE use supps only, NO Vit. D with them, and do NOT do the super high dairy intake they recommend on some sites - it's sooo chock full of nutrients!!!

The only reason cal-mag appear to have high results is because they do not inhibit odds of conception, so people who believe in them, take them for long periods of time (we tend to drop other sway tactics that are bad for pregnancy). Since we have good results with 12 weeks plus on diet, virtually everyone on the site goes for that and so the same people doing cal-mag are the same ones who do 12 weeks plus on diet - just about the same results = 70% range for both!

I got my 3rd and 4th boy taking cal-mag supps and dropped them to get my girl. :)
