Hi there!
I've been a lurker for a few years. (Since my in-gender girl sway resulted in a boy in 2014.)
We are going to TTC starting the end of December and I have one quick question.
I'm currently overweight, but am losing rapidly. My question is, a lot of my exercise uses 5-7lb weights. (I do the 21 day fix/21 day fix extreme.)
Is it imperative that I focus more on cardio and less on building lean muscle? I've found that I lose weight MUCH quicker with light weight lifting. But I was lifting heavy weights when I conceived our third boy.
Currently a mom of 3 boys and would love a baby girl for our 4th and final addition.
I am mostly following the diet already, but will be following more strictly starting after grocery shopping today.
I already skip breakfast. My diet is mostly low carb/low-moderate healthy fat/moderate protein. I drink mostly water and coke, but have cut down to just a single cup of coffee in the morning and one caffeine free coke at the most every day. Lots of fruits and veggies, but I'm cutting to the recommended and adding in rice. I'm planning to be mostly vegetarian (maybe occasional chicken?). We are starting to TTC next cycle. I realize now that I should have started the diet a bit sooner, but I've just been focused on healthy weight loss.
I have SUPER low iron. (I get infusions twice per year.) And my body doesn't absorb many supplements due to Crohn's disease. But I'm going to try cranberry and vitex. (I did cranberry and soy last time and got a boy.) My potassium and sodium have also been flagged as low on recent blood tests. (They weren't when we conceived previously.)
Sorry to ramble! My MAIN question is about the weight lifting, but any advice is welcome. I have not purchased a plan.
