Hi everyone,

I am lucky to be mum to two lovely boys (4 and 2) and now would love to try for a girl. I have decided that January is going to be the month I TTC, as I have consulted 10 different Chinese Gender Charts and they all say that Jan for someone my age (33) will be girl. I know some may raise eyebrows, but I've cross-referenced it with lots of my friends' births and it's right in 90% of cases! The Chinese do seem to have their finger on the button when it comes to lots of things, so I'm willing to give it a shot! (The next one that seems to be a definitive girl month is May, so I'm hoping Jan works..)

I'm having a little trouble finding a specific list of correct foods on here for TTC a girl. Is there one? I know to basically avoid salty/tinned foods, and to not eat too much on the run-up to conception, but is there anything else I should really take into account? Is it still good to consume dairy? I've not been taking supplements apart from folic acid (obvs) and zinc (for my skin and immune system).

I ovulate on day 14 fairly consistently and often have mittelschmerz, so I'll probably know once I'm ovulating. I was lucky to fall pregnant on the first month of trying with both my boys, so fingers crossed it works this time too! And a girl would be very nice :)

High five to all other girl swayers out there.

Hi there honestly u haven't left yourself a lot of time with regards to dieting but timing wise u could try having just one attempt in Jan during your fertile window or once every 4 days to get a single attempt in there ... wishing u lots of luck x

If the Chinese were privy to some ancient wisdom that predicted gender with 90% accuracy there would not be orphanages full of unwanted Chinese baby girls and millions more gender abortions in that country every year.

You can, of course, use whatever tactics you would like, but I did just want to point that out.

We do a different type of diet on this site than on the other sites. We limit our nutrients overall and you can read a short version of that here http://genderdreaming.com/forum/trying-to-conceive-a-girl/16780-low-everything-diet-nutshell-version.html

:agree: the most important thing to do in a kind of "last minute" sway is to have just one attempt in the fertile window. If you O on CD 14 your best odds of conception will be to have sex on CD 13, or if you want more of a cutoff on CD 12. I would not go any earlier than CD 11 absolute max (3 day cutoff)

Ha, thanks. I do know it's unlikely to be a magic solution, but in my friends' cases it IS proven 90%, as I've tested it myself. It was right for both my boys too. Like I said, unlikely to be concrete, but 90% are pretty good odds so I'm giving them a whirl.

Just as long as you don't compromise your sway overall in order to conceive in those months. That's all. Don't do things that sway blue trying to get pregnant in a certain month. :)

The Chinese chart shows different genders for every individual person based on their "lunar age". So it can be a girl month for some, and a boy month for others.

March may be a good month for any woman in the Northern Hemisphere in places where there are 4 distinct seasons as something about the day length may help sway a tiny bit pink.

Eek.... not much seasonal change here in Abu Dhabi tbh. Just constant sun, although the temps do vary by season.

Right, but I think I put this in your plan but maybe I forgot, that around the equator, more girls are conceived anyway. So it's all good if you want a girl and are in an equatorial country. :)

Thanks, Atomic. There is hope!

lol I know this an old thread.... but I just want to say I have four children... lol it was right for two of them and wrong for two of them.... so I wouldn't rely too much on that Chinese calendar. In the end you get what you get, not what a Chinese gender calendar tells you are going to have. Anyways good luck and I do hope you get your baby girl!
