I am no stranger to the LE diet, but I'm needing help from all of you ladies on what you do to help with no snacking and limiting sweets.

I've been depressed lately from not getting a BFP and super stressed from my DS3 getting surgery to remove his adenoids, tonsils and lip frenulum. I've been having a snack of junky carbs (fruit candies) and having way to many carbs in general. I am swapping some out with fruits and veggies. But I am an emotional eater when stressed/depressed and need some strategies on how to stick to 3 meals and NOT have one of them be junk (or at least mainly junk!).

The reason I need to kick this into overdrive ASAP is today when my DS2 was being admitted for his surgery, the nurse asked about our family. She mentioned she had a daughter and a son who is my DS3's age. She asked if we wanted a girl. My DH said I have been content with our boys, but he wanted a girl 3 times over and is hoping our 4th is a girl when we get pregnant again. I need to get my head out of my ass and stop self-destructing NOW. I know that this cycle and maybe the next is a wash, but I need to get back on track.

I am looking forward to hearing from you all what you do/did to help to stay on track. Thanks!!

Weirdly, the solution to this situation is eating more when you need to.

The problem is (and this is true of any diet, not just LE) when you are trying to somewhat deprive yourself, you feel, well, deprived. It makes you do this thing where you try to be good, and then end up saying "oh, eff it" and you end up eating more than you'd have eaten if you just ate the thing you wanted to eat in the first place.

So in times like this, go to four meals, and when you're deciding what you want to eat, figure out what you actually want, and eat it. First. Don't eat 20 other things trying to satisfy yourself. It is not going to undo your diet to have a couple days where you eat more regularly and have some things that you don't normally. remember even our prehistoric ancestors had feast days now and then.

This cycle is not a wash. Things like what you've been thru this last month I believe to sway strongly pink. There is never a perfect month and I think that the best strategy is just to regroup and move on. This WILL happen but let's not start skipping months, since we never know when Goldie is going to show up! :cheer:

I hope your little guy is doing better. I had that surgery as a child too (don't remember it tho)

Thank you! I'll keep track of my calories and do what you recommend. It's nice to know I haven't blown it all!

XX, from a strictly emotional side, with swaying or anything else that I am committed to I try to surround myself with positive reminders. During swaying I put a sign up in both my office at work and my kitchen at home that said "If you saw the size of the blessing coming, you would understand the magnitude of the battle you are fighting"

Just reading that daily helped give me strength both in what I ate and also being patient with the TTC journey and the month after month BFN. I reminded myself that I wanted a baby girl more than I wanted that morning bowl of cereal (not that I didn't cheat once or twice). And reminded myself that it is only a temporary sacrifice...once I got my BFP I have cereal several days a week now- yummy!

I print stuff off pinterest for whatever inspiration I need during whatever season in life I am facing. Good luck and I hope your son is feeling better soon.
