Hello Everyone

I am not sure how to use this site fully yet so hope I'm posting in the right place. I will be going to see Dr Savvas in a few months and was wondering if someone could give me advise on where to get Metformin in the Uk? This is one of the supplements I have been advised to take because of potential POCS?

I would love to hear from anyone else who is just about to embark on their first IVF journey !

Xxxx

Ok thanks yes Genesis said they can send it but thought I would see if I could get it online. I have found a US site that will ship it to me. Do you think it might not be as good as what Genesis will provide? They want to charge a 70 euro shipping fee which seems very high ?

Thanks I've emailed them to see if they can send some details to my GP who said she would then prescribe it so fingers crossed.

Why don't you call Fetility2U or other UK based on-line fertility provider and ask the price. You should then be able to get Genesis to email a prescription to them - they certainly used to do this. In the grand scheme of things 70 euro isn't a huge amount! good luck x

Hi Ever hopeful,

We have decided to get all medication from them out of ease and so only have to pay 70 euro for the whole lot! I had a shop atound and foubd Genesis to be reasonable.

Thank you very much for your help x

I had an unsuccessful cycle with Savvas in November. I just found out I am a poor responder to medication. I am going to cycle again at the end of this month but with a short protocol (last cycle was long), higher medication and FET (last time it was a fresh transfer).

Heya just curious is genesis the clinic where you need to ask for gender selection discretely? Just so there is no confusion when I decide to go there. TIA

No, at Genesis you can talk openly about GS. It is legal in south Cyprus.

Hey Pepper I hope you dont mind me asking but how did you respond poorly to medication ? And ladies how did u decide between Dr Pottor and Savass?

Jaynelouise
February 15th, 2017, 08:46 AM
My decision came down to cost and location. It would be really hard for me to travel to America for FET.

Well I have decided as Jayneluise. Cost and location.
You are lucky if you can get a share risk scheme, I didn't qualify probably due to my poor AMH and FSH.
But I am very positive it is going to be my lucky cycle. I am going to start stimulation in 6 days.
Please give me luck and hope to go through all this. It is hard to be optimistic after my failed cycle...

Jaynelouise , is the risk sharing get thing when you pay an amount and get as many cycles as u need based on ur pre tests ? If so he said I may be eligible but hasn't given me an amount . How much is it
?

It depends very much on your pretesting (good AMH, FSH and AFC) and age (usually less than 33). I think it was 14.000 per 2 cycles (including FETs and everything needed) and they return you the money if you don't get a heartbeat.

Pepper is correct! You have to pay for medication and scans/blood tests as well !

Hi Pepper,
Wishing you luck this time.
I'm on the money back scheme.
I have 2 girls so I'm hoping for twin boys. I spoke to him about this already.
I received my meds on Wednesday but I have had a delay in my period ( I was scared I was already pregnant but a pregnancy test proved negative).

I just received my meds on Wednesday(15th). I have had a delay for 2days though, my period didn't show up as expected. I was scared I was already pregnant. My ER was supposed to be March 20th.

Hi Ladies, I have tried to contact Genesis by filling up the form on their website, but no responses for two weeks. How did you contact Dr. Savvas directly? I also hope to start in Spring.

Lucky you! I wish I had qualified for the shared risk scheme. Are you going to follow an only menopur protocol. Is it going to be short or long? Why don't you make a sticky so we can follow your journy? I have one if you wasn't to follow.

Good luck and tons of blue dust for you!!

My dream will be to have twins girls too...

If you go to "the forms" section "international ht family balancing" you will find an orange button which says "new post". Then you have to fill the post with the information regarding you cycle or at least the information you know already. You can update your sticky as you move on in your process. If you can find someone's sticky you can just copy and paste and then edit according to yourself.

I must do my sticky as well.

How do I know if mine is long or short? I think I'm doing menopur only as well!

Long is when you start your medication (such as suprefact) on the cycle before stimulation. In the short cycle you start the agonist (suprefact) only one or 2 days before stimulation with menopur/gonal.

I did a fresh transfer in my last cycle. I didn't travel home because I am from Spain and it takes time and flights are expensive. If I were in UK I would rather have come back for the transfer.
Take into advise that they cannot tell you the exact day for ER. For example mine was delayed one day when savvas saw me in Cyprus.

I travelled home in-between second cycle - basically flew in with DH late Sunday night (ER Monday morning), flew home Monday afternoon and then I flew back on my own Friday night (ET Saturday morning, had a chilling day and evening and I flew home again Sunday afternoon). It worked and she's now a v happy 3 year old! First cycle had a scan in UK on Saturday - sent Savvas results and booked flight after talking to him - flew in on Monday am, went to clinic for final scan Tuesday, triggered Wednesday night, DH arrived Friday night, ER Saturdayam and ET following Wednesday, flew home late same day. Hope that helps and good luck. Good luck x

Had a quick question, my OCP should finish on the 28th March and my AF should come 2 days later on the 30th. I should then start my stims on day 2 of that cycle. What do you do if your AF is earlier or later than the regime given?

In my case AF was 1 day earlier and he told me to attach to the plan so I started stims on my 3rd day.
You should tell him and he will tell you what to do.

Hi Janelouise,

I'm booked to go out on 28th June 2017 to hopefully get our baby girl at genesis. We already have two little boys conceived naturally and would love a little sister.

When are you going out?

Jaynelouise
March 17th, 2017, 06:35 PM
I will be going in April and then going back for FET sometime in June.

Are you planning a fresh transfer?

I start my stims in about 2 weeks!

Xx

Hi,

sorry for my late reply I hadn't checked my replies properly. I spoke with my husband about me going out there myself to do a transfer before June but logistics of having 2 small children and the cost meant we've decided against it. My ultrasound and blood results were all good so we are staying for 10 days in June and hoping that the eggs they collect will be ok. But know you are making me wonder if I should go out there first??

Are you hoping for a boy or a girl?

xx

Jaynelouise
March 27th, 2017, 04:39 PM
Hi,

If you are doing a fresh transfer then you only have to go once but I have to do a Frozen Embryo transfer because I am at risk of OHSS. That's the only reason as it gives my body a chance to get rid of the medication before the transfer.

We are hoping for a boy!

I'll be travelling on my own in June and we might be out there at the same time.

It's great news about your blood and testing results. I'll look forward to following you and send you lots of pink dust xx

Hey ladies , I finally got an af after removing contraception so managed to get my tests done . My Amh levels were a bit low which had me worried but everything else is good. I read the terms of the risk sharing scheme is anyone else doing this as I'm scared of putting 2 embryos back ( please God let me have enough I am just worried incase of twins )

I'm doing risk sharing and if I'm lucky to get more than two eggs I have the chance to potentially only put back one ( I already have 3 children)

I wanted to go shared risk for the same reasons as BGQ (for the peace of mind) but I didn't qualify.
If my current pregnancy goes well I would spend more or less the same amount of money as shared risk. I did 2 cycles instead of shared risk and it costed me around €15.000.
