View Full Version : Does Hubby on Antibiotics Sway?

Hi,
So of course it's my first sway cycle and DH gets a bacterial eye infection! He's on eyedrop and oral antibiotics for 7 days and will finish up when I'm cd12. I usually O around 19-24.
Do antibiotics for the male cause any sway issues? I'm TTC blue.
I've also started to get a sore throat yesterday morning, however it isn't bad and I'm already getting over it. I thank that to the supps and HE diet! Will this little hiccup of a sore throat for 2 days cause a pink sway later when I O? Currently cd6.

Traditionally antibiotics sway blue, I believe? But that might be only for the woman; not sure about how it would affect the man. I also don't think a brief sore throat would necessarily sway one way or the other, especially if it was so brief -- remember, a sore throat could literally just be cold air, or sinus drainage, or even irritation from a pill (supplements with HE maybe went down a little hard, perhaps?) or food the day before, without being an actual illness!

I feel like we have so little ACTUAL data that I would be tempted, were I in your position, to wait this one out.
I know the "old school" sway gurus claim it sways blue because of "pH" but several studies done since 2010 have shown that antibiotics may harm sperm and since it's your first month and your daughter is still pretty young my inclination is for you to wait, if at all possible.

Thanks atomic. So with waiting should I wait the next cycle for my first attempt or wait the three months seeing as that's how long sperm takes to form?

Oh gosh just till next month! 3 months that's forever! :)

Thanks atomic. I just thought because you said antibiotics cab affect sperm (and I did a lot of researching about antibiotics affecting quality and quantity) that I should wait for the 74 day sperm regeneration cycle. But if you don't think that's necessary then we'll just wait till next month.

Also DH wanted to ask - "Wouldn't you try to conceive this cycle because my matured sperm is from the last 20-40 days when I was healthy and skip next month when the matured sperm is from the new developing sperm that is affected now from the antibiotics?". Then he goes..."does that make sense?" Hahaha

I understand why you asked the question, but here's the thing. We don't KNOW any of this is even a fact. If someone had come down and shot his jewels with a sperm laser beam or something and we knew they were bad, then yeah maybe, but we don't know that, and we also don't know what may happen in the future that would possibly be worse. I see too many people wait months and months to TTC only to find that things are actually worse, and then eventually they say "oh screw it" and end up TTC in a worse month than the ones they'd skipped!

Sperm aren't in little compartments, they're all kinda mixed in there http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gender-swaying-general-discussion/10156-jellybean-factory-%96-understanding-sperm-count-frequency.html and even the mature ones can be hurt. So you wouldn't gain yourself anything except for ensuring that the batch you're using will be the closest to the antibiotic use.

Thank you! So much great info! I think we'll skip this month because DH is still battling this eye infection and like you said this month's batch of sperm is closest to the antibiotics and we'll try next month. You're a legend atomic, thanks for all your advice.

Can I ask, Atomic, I've been prescribed keflex for a UTI. Would this be likely to affect my sway at all?

The old school sway gurus claimed antibiotics swayed blue but I've never seen an iota of real data indicating that they do. If you need them, take them.

There are not enough evidence to conclude role of antibiotics. All the best for attempt
