My DS1 has a confirmed case of the seasonal flu virus type A today. He has taken one dose of Tamiflu so far. No one else has symptoms, and we hope it stays that way! We all got our flu shots this year, which is contributing to him not having severe symptoms- Thank goodness! One of his classmates had to be hospitalized for severe dehydration [emoji20].
Has anyone gotten the seasonal flu while pregnant in the first trimester? Has anyone taken Tamiflu while pregnant?
It is a category C, mainly because there are no documented studies on humans. However, the seasonal flu can cause birth defects or miscarriage. I was told that if I develop a fever, that I should call my doctor for a prescription for Tamiflu.
I'd love to hear anyone's experiences or thoughts.
Thanks!

I had to with DD2. I was maybe 8 weeks along. If you get it my opinion is you need the tamiflu. But with some luck you may avoid it. Fingers crossed you don't get it hon..Hope your baby boy feels better soon. Yucky flu.
ETA: miscarriage is mostly due to the high fever the flu gives. So the other thing I recommend is to keep your fever down or mild with Tylenol.

So far, no one is showing signs of getting it. I've been cleaning and disinfecting things. We also run humidifiers everywhere, which reduces the spread of viruses in general.
Thanks! He's feeling much better

I'm making a giant vat of my homemade chicken noodle soup. My DH swears that it prevents him from getting any illness that he encounters at the school he is the principal of! I'm hoping it works for all of us!

Well I managed to dodge the flu but not the cold my youngest two got. I now have a MASSIVE sinus infection that requires me to take antibiotics and low dose pseudophed. I HATE taking medicine when pregnant, but my sinuses are so swollen that the doctor could barely see in my nose. He told me that the risk is my sinus pressure being so great it could cause brain swelling. My head also hurts on top and the bottom sinuses in the back of my head [emoji20]. I literally feel like I have been ejected from a car and landed on my face on the pavement - seriously that is how bad my face/head hurts [emoji20]. The plus side is my blood pressure was normal and my O2 saturation was 100%! At least the baby is getting plenty of oxygen despite how badly I feel.

OMG I had that exact same thing. I think it's whatever is going around that Halliburton brewed up for us this year. The one night I was ready to tell my husband to take me to the ER because I thought I was having a stroke or something. Never felt anything like that in my life and I've been sick a kajillion times.
I hope you're feeling better soon!!!!!
