I have 3 boys and we are ttc for a girl. We've been trying the shettles method but after reading this I feel I may have ruined my chances for a girl! I ovulate in a few days and have stopped intercourse as shettles suggests. What are my chances? What are your recommendations?? I've cut down my sodium increases my calcium and magnesium, no caffeine I did a vinegar douche last night as it was our last time before I ovulate. Am I missing anything. By what I've read here I should have sex the day I ovulate?? Please help!

Hi, welcome.
As a general rule the Shettles method is not followed by most women here, his theories have been debunked and many here have opposite genders based in Shettles timing. Most women here go with 1 attempt in fertile window for a girl (can vary depending on circumstances but this has the best results). There are a number of other factors incorporated by women swaying pink on this site such as diet (12 week recommended) and exercise but given you are already ttc these may not be useful to you at this point. GL.

Thank you for your reply! If I end up not pregnant what would be the recommendation, diet and sway method?

I'm a blue swayer so haven't done any indepth reading on the pink sway diet or other factors so dont want to misguide you. Have a read of some of the ttc girl forums on this site, there will be people there that can give you more specific advice.

Hi C!

Most of us on here have 2-3-4 or more Shettles opposites and the science behind his claims has been fully debunked. Some people do want to try Shettles and I help them do that.

When you say "a few days" how many days?? If any longer than 3, your odds of conception drop to barely anything.

Caffeine has also been debunked and we get great results using coffee as a sway tactic.

Douches do drop odds of conception too.

Most of us have our one attempt on the day of positive OPK for convenience. It's good odds of conception with one attempt (which for reasons we can only guess at, has been effective for pink). But it's fine if you want to just stick with the attempt you've had this month and see what happens! Maybe you'll surprise yourself and get pregnant, maybe you won't and then have more time.

We find that our best results are 12 weeks or more on LE Diet plus fiber, coffee, and alcohol, cardio exercise 60 min. a day 4-7 days a week, Clomid or Femara if you can get it, and one attempt. All the other stuff seems to mostly just prevent conception without adding much of anything to the sway.

I have another question. If I'm ovulation bleeding ,Would it be a good idea to dtd?

Not if you've already had an attempt in the fertile window! More than one attempt in fertile window may sway blue.

What really my chances if I bd before I was ovulation spotting?

My husband works 24 hour on 24 hour off shifts so it is kind of difficult to do the every 4th day. We dtd 2 days before I started ovulation spotting.

It's ok to bend the rules on e4d for work. There is no "pink magic" to it, it's just a way of having regular attempts without having to think about it much. Err on the side of further apart at first, so if you have a choice of e3d vs. e5d (because he works on the 4th day) then stretch to e5d. You can always squeeze it closer over time.

I can't tell you when you Oed from here. If you Oed the day you had the spotting (maybe, maybe not) then 2 days before O is good shot of conception.
