Had my first US today! Measuring only 6 weeks 5 days! So VERY early I know!

Heart rate was 138! It was a vaginal US so the ovum on the right of the photo is my right side!

Lemme know! Would love a blue bean.. I'm just happy I'm pregnant finally after trying so long!35029

It appears that the placenta is on the right, so I'm giving a boy guess.

What is the mass to the right there? The black opening or blob?? She called it an ovum.. what would that mean?

That looks to me to be the yolk sac, which provides nourishment for the embryo until the placenta fully forms/matures.

I mean the black gaps to the upper left side of the photos. What would those be? She said it was probably just an ovum? What does that mean?

No guess from me - but congratulations honey! Xx

Gotcha! That would be the corpus luteum cyst on your ovary providing hormone production to sustain the pregnancy until the placenta gets large enough to produce the hormones to keep the pregnancy going.

That makes much more sense! When she called it "probably just an ovum", I looked up what an ovum was and I was just so confused!

Update with my 10 week ultrasound! Heart rate went up to 170 ugh! Also- is that the labia in baby's crotch? I know 10 weeks is too early and it's not all developed yet... but it already looks like a vagina to me :( 35273

It's way too early to make any gender guesses, trust me! As far as the heart rate goes, around 10 weeks it does get higher before settling to a lower level. All of my boys were around 155-170 at this gestation.

FX and loads of blue baby dust for you [emoji597][emoji92][emoji170][emoji843][emoji170][emoji94]

Yeah heart rate started at 138 at 7 weeks, jumped to 183 at 9 weeks then 170 at 10 weeks

I know it's just a theory.. so I should get so bothered by it.. but can someone explain the theory for me? Isn't placenta on the right side of my body - boy and placenta on the left side of my body - girl??? I've had a few people tell me "oh that's for sure a girl cuz of the yolk and placenta placement.."

Now maybe I'm just sensitive cuz girl guesses make me sick to my stomach.. but if the tech said my yolk and placenta are on the right side of my body, what would make people say girl so confidently? Are they just assuming the ultrasound is flipped even though the tech told me right is right and left is left?? I'm just confused. Again maybe I'm overly sensitive.. I just don't know how people could be so sure yet give opposite guesses

Heartrate doesn't work at all and at least one of my boys was regularly that high. My daughter was the lowest heart rate of the 5.

Yeah heart rate started at 138 at 7 weeks, jumped to 183 at 9 weeks then 170 at 10 weeks

That's normal though. It changes by gestational age, not gender.

Re "labia in baby's crotch" you can't tell gender at this stage. ALL babies are "girls" until at 10 weeks and then the Y chromosome "wakes up" and starts making testosterone. ONLY after this happens, the "ovaries" move down into the "labia" and turn into testicles in boys and the "clitoris" grows and changes and turns into a penis in boy babies.

Re Ramzi - I've seen people send Dr. Ramzi himself $10 to guess their ultrasounds and he guessed WRONG. If Ramzi actually worked, it's so well known that every ultrasound place in the land would be doing it. But they don't, and the only logical explanation is that it really doesn't work.
