View Full Version : Do gender predictor tests work? Anxiety and already feeling GD creep in...

Hi,

I'm having doubts about my sway and my luck in general. I'm not a lucky person and there are things in life that I've worked hard for and often bad luck, timing etc. caused me to not achieve it.

I feel very confident that I did not get my DG (boy) but my hubby is convinced that we did and it's pushing my anxiety and stress to the max.

Are there any tests that we can take to confirm the gender? I just want the truth now...I don't know how I can wait much longer. I am very stressed and only 7-8 weeks pregnant at this point...

You could look into getting NIPT done. I see that your location says Canada, I don't think any province covers it (AB definitely doesn't) and the cost is generally around 500-600 if you can't get your insurance to cover it.

None of the home tests work reliably that I know of.

If you are this stressed I think you should definitely do the nipt/ harmony test. I think you can do it from 9 weeks...
Hoping you get your DG and am sending you all my blue dust!

You sound so like how I used to that I thought I had written this post!

Definitely look into the early testing which would also show sex. But I'm going to say look into therapy, too. That level of self-defeat + hormones can really foster depression and anxiety, and a good therapist can help you navigate that AND GD.

I would do the Harmony test (or any of the "nipty" ones) and then see!

Good luck and blue dust!

Agree with the others, do not waste your money on any of these home, prick your finger or spit in a jar type tests, they are all rubbish:) If you can't afford the proper nipt tests then if possible book a scan for when you think you are going to be 13 weeks on the dot for some solid nub shots, again this is if you cash:) I would book this even if you have a NT scan a few days near your 13 week date as you may not get a solid shot from the NT:)

My doctor uses the Panorama nipt test. I've not heard much about this particular test on this site. I'm assuming it's as good as Harmony etc, is that safe to assume and worth paying for?

Thanks everyone...talked about it with my hubby and he sees no point in spending $800 and going through a hassle with the genetics counselor etc...will try to hang tight.
