I have seen this supplement pop up few times here but I am really not sure about the benefits of using it...

Is anyone using it? DW or DH or both and what is the dosage? Is it required to consult a doctor before using it?

CoQ-10 will improve egg quality for you and improve DH's sperm motility.

If you are younger then 35, you probably don't need it, but I would give it to DH, won't hurt. Recommended daily dosage is 100 mg.

I think co q 10 is a great addition to your blue sway for both DW and DH altho I agree that if you're younger than 35 you prob. don't need it. You will also be getting ample co q 10 from fish and meat. 10-30 mg for DW, 30-50 for DH seems to be the amount that is commonly taken over the long term but some people have taken a bit more than that for a short-term sway.

The benefits are that it seems to make higher quality egg and sperm plus it helps with building and maintaining muscle mass which will help raise testosterone. It also may make it safer for your overall health, to ingest more cholesterol, which you will be doing on the Blue diets. It prevents cholesterol from doing damage to your vascular system (they say.)

My DH is taking 300mg of this -- you say only 30-50mg? Am I over-dosing him?? That is the amount of the pill I got...

My GP suggested I take it (was 31 at the time) and took it all through ttc last time and got my DS2.

AS- Thank you. The lowest I saw so far was 100mg...I will keep looking for lower dosage...

Flava - Thanks for the list.... I have read in the posts that potassium is better to consume through foods than via supplements.. how much dosage are you taking? I was worried about going over the amount through food as I am not really tracking the amounts....

About prenatals - I am still not sure... I took them 6months before TTC for my DD...though my diet was perfect girlie....

Is Zinc for DH only?

What is DHEA and BY? - sorry for too many questions....

I feel like my list is soooo small compared to yours....If i take prenatal, it might pick up some of the list like B12, Vit E ...this is what I am taking so far

Fish Oil
Folic Acid
Vit D

DH
He is taking fish oil and a multi-vitamin that has Vit D, folic acid, B12, Vit E, some Zinc ( I need to get him more dosage to add).

Zinc helps sperm, but you can take a little also. He only needs 50mg a day, I believe. Most prenatals and multis have that in them.

DHEA is a hormonal supplement that helps restore estrogen and testosterone when you are older. (May have to google for more detailed explanation.) You don't want to try this unless you are over 35, and it's best to have your natural DHEA levels checked before you take it also. Too much is counterproductive.

BY is brewer's yeast, which is just a nutritional supplement that is good for swaying blue as it has a ton of nutrients and protein in it.

Look in the sways, there are lots of good lists of supps people took there!

My DH is taking 300mg of this -- you say only 30-50mg? Am I over-dosing him?? That is the amount of the pill I got...Me and DH were taking 200mg a day for about 1-2 months. Theres a link to a blog somewhere where an ivf lady shares that she was recommended the 200mg mark for motility, and she noticed a significant improvement quite quickly. So maybe even to switch to one every other day if you think you are giving to much:agree:

No, I don't think you need it. Save your $$$ for blue clothes. ;)

I don't think CoQ 10 hurts anything if you WANT to take it, but you don't have to. Whereas with DHEA, you SHOULDN'T take it if you are not in your very late 30's to 40's.

I wouldn't go that far, but it can cause jitteriness and insomnia so I feel like it's better to start small and work up to see if there's any ill effects. The 30-50 mg were people who were taking it every day forever and ever for health benefits, not taking it for a short time for swaying.

He seems fine. He's been taking that dose for a few months now. We got the bottle from Costco, and that's what it says the dose is, right on the bottle. So that's why I gave it to him. I guess I will keep it up since we have this far...

That's fine if he's having no ill effects. The prob is that there is just not a lot of study that has been done and so it's hard to say definitively about the safety.

I agree that sometimes the doses on the bottles are not what we would like. I did read that in some studies for people with Parkinsons, they dosed them up to ! 6000 ! mg but obviously that is NOT something that any of us should do.

Should I cut it back to 200mg? Will decreasing it at this time be bad?

I don't know. Since he seems to be tolerating it ok I would prob. just carry on.

You might want to take them here and there for a couple weeks rather than just stopping cold turkey...never a good idea to quit vitamins cold turkey when you can taper them off.
