Hi all. We are ttc this cycle. I have been testing my O with digital Opks from day 10. My AF comes in 28 days usually. Positive opk on cd16 with the 28 day cycle. This month it came a day before.
We aren't doing anything different this month except for me taking Mucinex and drinking plenty of water. And I haven't had a good night sleep a few nights last week due to dd being sick.
My question is that today is cd17 morning and my opk is still showing flashing smiley and the other one is blank circle which is consistent but is it ok to still try 3 attempts when I get solid smiley?
I mean with Oting late. Can this sway opposite?
Today is the 5th morning of abstaining for dh.
Is that too long even if I get my smiley anytime today.
Please help!

Oing isn't "late" until after CD22 (which mine did at CD24 for some reason this month), though I get this is a delay for you. Lack of sleep could definitely delay it though. There was one study done in the 90s that noticed shorter follicular stages seemed to lead to more boys, but it's been disproven like so many other grasps at gender straws lol
I'm concerned about the abstaining-- that's not the recommended advice on here (the spreadsheet isn't updated). I'll defer to atomic's advice on both.

Have DH release right away. You don't want to have him go any longer than 5 days. Better to have two releases back to back than more than 5 days. Personally I'd do it inside but that's up to you.
Yes, it's still ok to BD when you have solid smiley.
Sometimes just thinking "when am I gonna O!!" can delay it. It will happen, try to just stay calm. :)

Thankyou Throwaway_panther and Atomic for giving me my much awaited replies. [emoji4]
I was afraid to update the post yesterday since didn't want it to get bumped. I got my solid smiley in the afternoon yesterday so we dtd late last night and this morning and hoping to do at night. Now the only thing is that it was end of 5th day. Hope that won't cause a problem.
What about the BD after tonight??
Thankyou once again. Can't say it enough.

Oh yay, one more attempt and you're definitely getting nice and blue friendly. Then bring on the 2ww.

I'd go to every other day in case of delayed O

We can't BD before tonight since Dh is at work. And I noticed a chunk of thick CM this morning and I am all dry after that. Tmi sorry. Could that mean that my O has already happened. I had cramps until last night and now nothing at all.
Should we still BD tonight and eod?
Has O+12 sways girl also bn debunked? I m just worried about that.
Sorry for too many questions. And A big Thankyou for being there always.

that's fine. If the egg has been released it's either dead or fertilized. If it hasn't, then you need that attempt!!
Women have all kinds of weird EWCM patterns. Studies showed that even experts could not predict O Day using EWCM any better than one out of 3 days. Don't worry about whether you Oed or not. O pain also does not tell you if you Oed or not.
yes, O+12 has been debunked. The only reason it was ever said to work was because one attempt sways pink and it's always done with one attempt.
I know you guys are scared of O+12 but what you end up doing, when scared to have that last attempt, is you end up in a very risky position of having ur attempts before O, and then if O is delayed, most of that sperm will die off and it ends up being pretty much one attempt! Please ahve another attempt as soon as you can then every other day after that.

I just hope tonight isn't too late considering the smiley turned solid on Saturday 2 in the afternoon.

It doesn't matter if it's too late though. If it's too late, the worst that can happen is that the egg is already fertilized or dead (and 2 attempts is still good). If it's not too late (and going from Sat to Mon is still within the window of what we regularly see with OPK) then it's preventative and just a sensible precaution. :)

I got at least 2 of my boys with only 2 attempts (wasn't paying attention with other two). Please don't worry. That 3rd attempt is just icing on the cake.
