So yesterday went to see midwife and told her I had a private scan at 15wk as had some pain and they could fit me in the same day. Showed her the potty shot and she said guessing you were told boy? So i said yeah and ive started my shopping and she then said I wouldnt go too mad as I have seen girl ultrasounds at 15wk 0d that could look like that as there doesnt seem to be a definite willy it could well be swollen girls bits......cue acting fine in the room.....leave the room huge panic what do I do if she is right with all the stuff Ive bought :omg:
I have only had a girl before so cant say I know a lot about looking at boys bits on ultrasounds

I would guess boy off of that shot. I only have boys though, and I don't know what girls at 15 weeks look like. I'm going to look at more pics to see if I can help you more.

After looking at a lot of swollen girl parts potty shots, this *could* be a girl. I don't see a scrotum. However, if the tech you saw was experienced, they may have seen more than this pic to make their determination.
Are you getting an anatomy scan done around 20 weeks? If so, you will know for sure by then! I'm sorry you are going through all of this!

Well the lady at the 15wk scan got very funny when my husband said "you were very confident when you said boy so is that for sure?" She burst out with "I have NEVER been wrong yet of course I am right" resulting in silence from us for the rest of the scan....I was bursting to laugh. Do you know what the 2 white line things are just under the long bit? Could that be a labia then? I did think is a well endowed boy if it is right lol

The more I look at this pic, the more I really think it's a boy. Most pics of swollen girl parts have a triangle close to the body. This is sticking up pretty far to me to be swollen girl bits. I'm thinking this is a boy.

I too would have laughed out loud at your tech saying that! She just may not know that she has been wrong- it's not like people come back to tell her, haha!

So just because I am a dope what are the 2 longer white lines under the big white blob as when i look at similar time ultrasounds none look even similar for boy or girl lol only I could have a strange looking one...as I didnt think boys parts would be that thick :worry: ....omg i sound stupid I was always told bright white on ultrasounds mean bone...think thats whats confusing me

Look, she just didn't want you to buy 10,000 dollars/pounds of stuff on some outside chance that it might not be a boy. But it certainly looks boyish to me. She's not trying to mess with your head, she's just trying to be responsible and have you wait a bit just in case.

Izzy-I'm not certain, but does look boyish. Our ultrasound tech & OB told us at 17weeks that it looked like we were having a boy, but not to paint any rooms yet until 20 week anatomy scan. Just save your receipts if you do go shopping ;) I'll see if I can find DS1's potty shot & compare...

That looks like what I saw with all three of my boys at 12/13 weeks - I would be thinking boy from this shot.

Izzy-I'm def not an u/s expert, but you're right white is usually bone, so not sure. I wanted to share an u/s pic of DS1...without looking at the white parts, I think yours looks similar to mine. I'm guessing boy!! [emoji170]https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170422/884ff4aa23d4c790235bb51dc8140239.jpg

Lol all the clothes are still in the covers they came in with tags etc on. I am a person that anyone with any medical knowledge makes them automatically right lol so I am believing 2 people who do....1 has got to be wrong.

Ultrasounds are weird. They have all kinds of shadows and lumps and bumps that no one (even the techs) know what they are.
Please do not start obsessing over your picture. There is no way to know 100% for sure off of that (which is why the midwife didn't want to completely commit)
You realize the two experts are not disagreeing, right?? They are both saying probably boy, the midwife (rightfully) did not want you to go nuts shopping until it was 100% confirmed.

Looks like a boy to me. But, I guess I just always wait until a 20 week anatomy scan before buying and annoucing.
