View Full Version : When to DTD, if at all?

Hi all! I'm brand new here, and we're trying to sway for a girl this time. We have one son who's 19 months old :) We kind of hemmed and hawed (well, I did, not DH!) about trying this month and I just decided I was ready. But... I'm about to ovulate! I always ovulated on CD18 (learned my cycle is super consistent from TTC with DS) and we're on CD17, took an OPK this a.m. and got a positive.

I went and bought a ton of girl diet foods this morning, too; I know you're supposed to start further ahead of time. So two questions: would you try this month or just wait?

And secondly, if we're trying to do O+12, should we dtd... tomorrow? Or today? I know OPK's say O is coming in 12-24 hours but it's not always right. If my CD18 is always the ovulation day (lowest day of temp on my chart), what would you do? CD18 is tomorrow, although my month is a little wonky since CD1 actually started when I was on Europe time but back in the States. Weird. Anyway, hi! And thank you :)

Hi and welcome!

Since we've had best results with 12 weeks or more I'd probably have you wait, but that's up to you of course.

What I do really want to stress is that it's best to have one attempt. Timing hasn't swayed, so don't count on O+12 to do anything (other than prevent pregnancy, unfortunately, which it does for the majority of people who actually manage to pull it off) but the one attempt has, for reasons we can only guess at.

You CAN'T rely on CD 18 to always be O day. Ovulation can and does change, and swaying definitely makes it happen. But that having been said O Day is not a good chance of conception anyway so I'd personally not want to wait till O Day (after all, if you do believe in timing, then DTD on O day is pretty darn risky, since there is no way to know based on OPK when 12 hours after O will be anyway!!)

So if you MUST try this month, I'd do just one attempt. If you want a decent chance of conception I would have that attempt tonight, CD 17, O-1. If you want to do O+12 I'd try to DTD as late as poss tomorrow night and don't be surprised if you get BFN this month.

Thanks! That all makes sense, and I was just reading your other posts about O+12! I think I'll skip that one and work on my diet this month :) There is just SO much info. I remember feeling this when TTC'd last time but holy - it's another level with swaying!

LOL! I know it seems confusing at first but just ask, ask, ask till it falls into place. A lot of the stuff, we've been finding, doesn't even work and the more of that we have given up on, in favor of the few things that DO, our results have gotten better and better!

Awesome! I just signed up for a custom plan so I'm excited :D Does that make me a soon-to-be "custom swayer"? I do have a couple questions in the meantime - is there anything you recommend for ALL girl swayers? I'd like to be able to buy whatever we need and work on that in the meantime if so. And with the different diets in the spreadsheet... like "Diet diet"? Is that just a reduction in calories? Is the InGender Diet the "Girl Cookbook" I saw on their site? I apologize if these have been answered before, but I'm so overwhelmed with info and I'm sure some of it I'm finding out there (in general) is wrong!

Yes! Thanks for your purchase!

I recommend folic acid or folate for everyone, and some kind of fiber for most people.

We are moving away from the supplements as they have not worked for us. I sometimes will put them into the plans at people's option to use or not.

I honestly don't know what that means. I don't keep my own stats since it's unethical for me to do so. I feel like we've seen such good results with LE Diet that it's what I recommend.

IG Diet is the diet that comes from Ingender. I think their cookbook, if I recall, is based on their diet - I haven't gone onto that site in years so I am not sure what exactly they're doing with that now.

Hi melewen, welcome here, all the best for the pink sway. Agree with atomic folic acid is quite helpful
