Hello everyone,
I have been watching and reading all the threads on this site for a long time, but just recently decided to join. I am 23 years old and was recently diagnosed with PCOS. I have 2 little boys ages 3 and almost 2. This is most likely my last chance for a little girl.
Atomic, I need some advice please!
I am currently on the last dose of my first round of Femara (days 3-7) and have been on 1500mg of Metformin for about 3 months. I am on day 7 of my cycle. My dr told us to BD every other day on cycle days 9-17 for best chance of conception. My question is what else can I do to have the best chance at having a little girl. Lubes? Change the days we dtd? I have no idea when I'll ovulate as I haven't ovulated naturally since my youngest son was conceived. Is there anything I can do or take to increase my chances of having my baby girl??

Is there anything I can eat or drink or anything specific I shouldn't? Or certain positions we should try? I know my timeframe is very short.. I just want any tips at all that may increase our chances of having a daughter.

M, please give me at least a few days to answer before bumping. I go from oldest to newest posts and so it only makes it take longer for me to catch up to your question. I will answer every post in the free forums so just give me a chance to catch them. :)
Timing and lube have not worked for us. I would NOT have you BD every other day though. I would BD every 4th day instead. We have had good results with that for pink and additionally, the Femara and Met will be helping you enormously.
I don't think worrying about your diet here and now is going to do anything at all to help and may cause some stress at the last minute that may sway blue. I want you to try this month since you've taken the Femara though - you can't skip months on the fertility medications.

NONE of the little things like positions make any difference really. Femara alone is MUCH more effective than any of that stuff. I would urge you not to start doing a last minute "swaycession" over all these things that haven't helped anyway when you already have in your corner.

Thanks Atomic! Sorry, I didn't know about the bump! So how long do we BD on every 4th day? Starting on what day and until when? Im on cycle day 8 today. My husband won't like that very much lol can he still release on the days in between?

Start the day after af ends and then go until you get a bfp or af starts.

No don't even worry about it, I just want you to get your answer as fast as poss.
Start right away and go through till when you are TOTALLY convinced you've Oed (even if that means you go all the way to next AF!)
You CAN let hubby release in between but it will cut odds of conception at any closer pattern than every 2 days. So since we don't want to cut odds of conceiving on the Femara I would not have him go any more than every 2 days.

So to be clear he can release every other day and we can BD every 4th day?

Or did you mean every third day? Sorry, I get confused with which days are which!

The best way to think of it, is that you want the worst case scenario to fall on O-3 and O Day. You will probably end up with your attempt on O-1 or O-2 but if you don't, if it ends up O-3 and O Day, that's ok. If there's anything left from O-3 that will fertilize the egg before the O Day sperm has a chance to capacitate and if there isn't anything left from that far out the O Day BD will back you up. So whether that makes sense to you to call that every 4th or every 3rd day, whichever works for you to keep it straight in your head. :)

Okay ladies, one more question and this may be WAY tmi. But, I just had a huge gush of cervical fluid while laying in bed. Never had this happen before... any idea what this could mean?

It's probably the Femara. Since it blocks estrogen and then you have a huge rush in it when you stop taking it, it's not unusual to have sudden onset of symptoms. Now, I've never heard of that particularly but I have heard of many people who have huge libido and also huge O pain all of a sudden with it. :)

Atomic, im noticing significant hair loss since starting metformin. Would it be okay for me to take vitamin D?

It is very, very unlikely you are losing hair from low Vit. D. What is happening is normal and called telogen effluvium (I think I'm spelling that right LOL) and it's the same thing that makes you lose hair after you have a baby (also very common coming off of birth control as well) It has to do with hormones putting your hair into basically a "resting" state where it just kinda hangs out there and doesn't fall out, and then all of a sudden your hormones change and you lose gobs of it all at once. It seems very shocking when that happens and since it happens suddenly there aren't a lot of new baby hairs there to replace it and your hair can appear thin for a while till it grows back in again.
Now, if you have reason to believe that you have low Vit. D or a thyroid issue (thyroid is WAY more likely than Vit D!! Even people with very low Vit. D have normal hair most of the time) you should have that checked out but I'd hesitate to take Vit. D without reason for the sake of your sway.

Thank you Atomic! It has definitely been shocking!
Update:
I got a positive OPK and intense cramping on my left side and a tiny bit of cramping on my right side for a good 4-5 hours on CD 14 into morning of CD 15. So, now I wait! My sway didn’t go as well as planned because DH couldn’t do the e4d.. so I’m hoping the Femara/metformin will be enough!

When did you have your BD in relation to pos OPK??
If you are super concerned with the hair loss you can always run it by your doc to see what they say but 9 out of 10 times when women of childbearing age have that hair loss it is the hormones.

We BD 2 night before(CD 12) and the night before(CD 13) positive OPK. It was positive around 1pm the next day (CD 14) and I had the intense cramping around 10pm-2am night of positive OPK. We BD again on CD 15... so im afraid my sway isn't looking too great. My DH isnt so great at planning or abstaining..

There is still a good chance of a girl - Femara really does help!

I hope so! Honestly we've been trying for so long at this point, we'll be happy to even conceive! But this will most likely be our last baby and I can't imagine our family feeling complete without a baby girl! I've had a little cramping in my lower back today.. not sure if its all in my head or not. Lol

Our two boys were conceived without any medication. We also had a miscarriage in September and our angel baby was conceived without medication as well.
