Genesis implanted the wrong gender in someone, probably a mixup in the lab. It was their baby but not the right gender.

Clinic C, on the other hand, gender selection is illegal there. So unfortunately one of our members only had an XY and the doctor refused to reveal the gender of the embryo till it was implanted. Going to Clinic C we exist on their good graces and the reality is that they can change their mind at any time and refuse to disclose gender, so you have to know that going in.

That's misinformation though. They will usually let you pick (and they don't disclose anything I believe, just give you a lab report and then you select the embryo to put in). But it's not all straightforward, not at all, and everyone has to be secretive. Totally open is a gross overstatement and it's all very stressful and fraught with uncertainty.

Luckily the lady in question did end up getting a girl naturally in the end.

Hi Atomic, are you sure this wasn't clinic R you are referring to? Are you talking about fiveboys? Because she went to R not C. :) just trying to avoid some misunderstandings here :)

Yes I'm sorry you're right, thanks for clarifying.

Dear Atomic Sagebrush,

If they give you the lab report and you get to select which one to put in, you do get all the info you need after all, don't you? Or is the gender not always included in these reports?

Okay, then I was misinformed regarding the openness :-( It all sounded a bit too good to be true, I guess... I don't really relish secrecy but I guess if it gets me my longed-for little girl, I could live with it.
If they hide the gender once you're there, however, that's really bad!
I don't suppose you can simply say that you don't want a transfer then at all, can you?

Good thing the poor girl got her daughter in the end after all :-)))))

But...are you sure it was clinic c where it happened, not clinic r?
And did it only happen once or several times?

I keep hearing different things from different members and am very confused right now :-(

They don't have to tell you anything. They do it as a wink-wink, nod-nod, under the table thing but it is entirely dependent on the good will of those involved in the process.

I think you need to take away this - it doesn't matter if it happens one or two times or twenty times, or even what clinic it was. The fact is when you go to a country in which this is illegal and done under the table it is ALWAYS possible that you will get in there and the policy will have changed and you'll have shelled out $$$$ for something that is now off the table for you. This has not only happened in this country (CZ) but at least 2 other countries that people in the midst of a cycle, the law of the land changed or there was a crackdown by the authorities and they had to give up on cycling there even after having paid for it. It seems a HUGE massive gamble to me in an arena that is already fraught with uncertainty.

People have a tendency to feel loyalty to the clinics that worked for them. This is completely human nature and understandable but those of us who don't feel that loyalty (perhaps obviously, LOL) are trying to look out for your interests.

Exactly. It's SO stressful for people. I know they're good clinics and have worked for many people including some personal friends but I sweat bullets every time you guys go there.

How old are you??? Please don't think you are setting your sights too high because you might be lucky and it would be such a shame if you 'waste' time you have. I think if I'd joined and read lots of the info before I cycled first time, coupled with the low odds Savvas gave me I don't think I'd have bothered and would not now have my darling DD. Have you thought about doing a couple of banking cycles??? Really might be worth it, especially if you are going to give C a shot and might not be told the gender. Good luck x

Dear all,

I have the same request.
I've also read a few good things about "clinic C" in the Czech Republic. Could anyone send me a (private!) message with the full name and location?

Thank you so much.
