I personally believe if there is anything to it (and I have seen some things that make me believe that it has some sway over character traits) it is because of signals a mom's body receives during pregnancy - maybe day length, temperature, etc - and so I think it's when baby is in your womb that matters and not conception. But then again the signals you get when developing those eggs/sperm may matter too, so it may be more than one factor coming into play.
