Hi there,
This is our first cycle TTC. I have read through what feels like a million threads, some are fairly old though, so I just wanted to be sure I understand the most recent recommendation if TTC a boy.
I have both the CBFM and cheapie OPKs and plan to use both. Will use FMU for CBFM as requested, and use the cheapie OPKs for afternoon/evening urine.
I'm expecting AF to end today or tomorrow.
Here's my plan - after AF ends we will DTD every 2-4 days. Once CBFM shows High, we will DTD every second day, and then first day of Peak we will DTD that night and possibly the next morning. We will not DTD on the second night of peak, because it may sway pink - is that correct?
Please let me know if you think this is reasonable or if I'm incorrect in my understanding for swaying blue. I will say that DTD every day is not reasonable for DH and I for more than a couple days tops, just based on work and schedules. Even DTD the morning after peak may not be possible unless it falls on the weekend...
Thank you!!
(PS - sorry, I'm never sure which thread to post in, so posted in Gender Swaying General Discussion and in Trying to Conceive a Boy).

not seeing it now, maybe deleted? here's my answer
That plan is ok, but I do want you to be aware of a downside that many blue swayers don't foresee.
Sometimes when you've BD a lot coming into the fertile window, hubby can't manage to get r done when it really counts - this is especially true when you guys are busy. This ends up with some couples having had one attempt instead of more, and even sometimes with a cutoff (which doesn't sway, but most still want to avoid it anyway). What you don't want to end up with, is an attempt on O-4, then O-2, and then hubby is SO tired or you guys get busy then that's it you end up with an O-4 attempt which is probably not viable, an O-2 which is viable but is only one attempt (and may even be a little lower sperm count due to the O-4 attempt) and then nothing else. It happens ALL the time. So you may want to be cautious because it is totally poss to get many, many days of high before peak, and we don't want to hit it too hard too soon.
The night of second peak DOES NOT sway pink. O+12 is a nonsense sway tactic that does not and has not ever worked, the only reason people ever thought it did is because it's done with one attempt and one attempt sways so strongly pink that it made O+12 look like it worked even though the vast majority of the people who thought they did O+12 didn't (it is impossible to pin down time of O like that. Doesn't work)
I like you guys to sneak in that night of second peak attempt if you can because it covers you in case your O is a little later than the CBFM thinks it should be.

Thanks for the quick response!
This is the first cycle I'm tracking so no idea if I'll ovulate early or late or not at all, so I agree that too much, too soon in my cycle might hurt our chances overall if we can't keep it up and end up missing out on O or the couple days before.
So would you recommend to just DTD every 2-4 days from end of AF until we get the Peak and then 2-3 times between Peak day 1 and the night of the second day of Peak - if it falls on a weekend we could prob do:
Day 1 Peak at night
Day 2 Peak in morning
Day 2 Peak at night
If during the week our best hope would probably be just once both nights.
A bit of our back story:
When we fell pregnant with our blue angel it was a one time oops - first time DTD in a couple weeks and condom broke. I was on CD16, but no idea when I ovulated. I had IB right around when I expected AF but my cycle had been gradually getting longer (the cycle before was 32 or 36 days). I thought maybe I just had a super short/light period. It was middle of summer, my routine was off, busy with two of my best friends' weddings, showers, stagettes, had just finished a huge exam, was traveling a bunch, so it took probably four or five weeks after DTD, and waking up nauseous for four or five days straight to even realize I was pregnant.
I had tracked my period, but never paid attention to fertile dates or ovulation signs, so this is all so new to me and so overwhelming. I didn't realize until recently how blessed we were to fall pregnant surprisingly, and not have to "try".

Getting pregnant easily may mean you're more set for boys anyway.
I would recommend exactly that plan laid out above and then also keep going with the every 2-4 days in addition to that (so keep going after the peak as well). That protects you against delayed O - in case you actually O later than the OPK says.
