View Full Version : How many months did it take you to get Pg with one attempt at positive OPK?

Just interested in putting this question out there.
I've been Ttc for 3 months now. Each month have stuck to the one attempt at positive OPK.
I got pregnant second month of trying with my first child.
I know 3 months is no time at all (and my first month wasn't a very good attempt as I messed it up a bit)....
But I just wanted a bit of a boost that one attempt is possible? What worries me is that I get quite a bit of CM in the run up to my positive OPK but by the time I get the positive result, it's started drying up and I'm worried that that will mean I'm BD too late because the CM is no longer enough to provide a good enough environment for spend to live in
So ..to summmarise...two questions
1. How many months did it take you to get Pg with one attempt at positive OPK?
2. Has anyone else found that by the time they actually get a positive OPK, they have dried up slightly and CM levels are lower? (Sorry TMI)
Thanks as always

my youngest was a 1 attempt at positive opk baby :) it was 2 months for me, first month we bd the day i got the positive opk but i noticed i only get 1 day of positive opk so i think i ov quickly after i get the positive!
second month i had been using opk's for a few months and always got positive opk on cd17 so we bd early hours of cd16, got positive opk on cd 17 and bfp that month
if you get positive opk on the same day each month it might be worth bd a day early.. though you do run the risk of *sods law* it being delayed that month
good luck with your sway :) 1 attempt is all thats needed for bfp it 100% works xx

My DS3 was one attempt at pos OPK. We did also BD 4-5 days before O as well but I doubt that counted. That was month 7 of TTC but two of the losses I had before were conceived right off the bat with just one attempt. We found out later on that DH has a super high sperm count. I did notice that the longer I swayed, the shorter amount of time I had a pos OPK and the quicker my cm dried up after.
Keep in mind it takes normal healthy couples up to one year to conceive. DS1 took a year to conceive yet we have no fertility issues. Some pink swayers that have been at it awhile do e4d plus one attempt at pos OPK but I think really, one attempt is good enough.

My DS3 I didn't get a positive opk the cycle I got pregnant with him. We resorted to BDing E4D that cycle, which was cycle 9 and 8mo TTCing.
This pregnancy I got pregnant from an attempt around positive opk, although we were doing E3D (I could only BD when my DH wanted to- he wasn't too keen on TTCing). My attempt that resulted in a BFP was either 2 or 3 days before ovulation and either the 2 days before positive opk or the day after positive opk. It was cycle 8 and 12mo TTCing (I had some crazy long cycles postpartum from DS3!)
Hang in there! I know it's hard seeing BFN after BFN but know that it WILL happen for you!

Of course one attempt is possible or I wouldn't have you guys try it.
In our results 88 people got pregnant with one attempt + J and D, and an additional 201 people got pregnant with one attempt alone.
I got my daughter with one attempt. Took me 6 months to get pregnant with her but many of our attempts were very halfhearted and not good.
I know we've talked about this already but just for anyone else wondering, yes, it's super common for people to notice that their EWCM dries up after the surge, I have it reported to me all the time (and I Googled it really quick and got thousands of hits about women asking about it on other sites as well) There is still fluid up inside and you can get pregnant with no visibile CM. I did - I conceived while testing pH and CM 2-3 times a day and my pH did not ever go up and I saw no EWCM and didn't even know I ovulated.
I honestly think you guys do yourselves absolutely no favors dwelling on things like this. If you've tried one attempt and haven't gotten pregnant after a few months, just go to e4d. Don't start pondering every microscopic detail about your CM consistency and what day it comes and try to figure it all out. It is un-figure-about-able LOL. Every person is different, every month is different, and you can drive yourselves mad thinking about a particular pattern of EWCM only to have an entirely different one show up next month. In fact, I suspect people actually outwit themselves constantly because they decide "well this pos OPK thing didn't work, this must mean I need an earlier or later attempt" and end up changing it to be actually much worse chances of conceiving (BD before pos OPK, or a day or two after) when really it just wasn't the month one month or they were doing 57 other things to sway or it was a bum egg or whatever. Don't do this. Just go to every 4 days, and don't think about it.

Thanks so much everyone and thanks atomic :) please don't think I was doubting you or anything you've told me. I was just interested to hear how long it took other members of this site to get pg with one attempt and whether they had similar CM patterns. Hearing others saying they got pg with one attempt has really given me a boost today :) :) :)
Believe it or not I'm not getting obsessed with anything else in my sway. I'm losing weight and doing a rough attempt at the LE diet but I've stopped monitoring my exact quantities of fat, protein etc. I'm not taking vitex anymore. Have stopped with antihistamines and sylk lube. Just sticking to diet and one attempt (plus a few silly old wives tales) and keeping everything crossed :) :) :)
Thanks all. Any other posters comments on one attempt are also welcome

Yes I understand that, but of course other people may have similar questions so when asked publicly I sometimes have to say the same thing again that I've already said to you in private which tends to be repetitive for you (sorry!), but may be just what the dr. ordered to answer someone who is in a similar situation. :)
Yes please everyone continue to chime in with experiences!

I have used one attempt at smiley OPK about 4 months with no luck either! My first two I got pregnant so quick that this is getting frustrating but I want that girl!

pinkfairydust i rushed my first reply and completely forgot to put in that as well as my 6th baby (who i mentioned in my first reply) my 5th child was also conceived with 1 attempt (not swaying) we just had 1 bd attempt that month due to me becoming ill afterwards. so thats 2 successful 1bd attempt stories from me, both of which resulted in girls, my 4 boys were all from multiple bd.
**just to add the baby im currently pregnant with was from e4d so both the pink sway bd patterns have worked for me, good luck to everyone who is ttc i hope you all get your bfp's very soon :)

That's interesting that you did every 4 days plus an attempt at positive OPK. How did you come up with that method? Brilliant that it worked.

Ps when you say every four days was that, for example, Monday- Thursday-Sunday
Then on top of those three attempts in a week you added an attempt on Positive OPK?

This is the next step I have people go to once they have had BFN a few months with just straight up e4d.

Yes, that's how it works. You do the e4d schedule whenever it falls, and then whenever the positive OPK comes, you pop in one more attempt at that point while continuing the e4d pattern (you do NOT change the e4d due to the OPK attempt, that attempt is independent of the e4d)
OR, some people will stretch the e4d an extra day and then add in the attempt at positive OPK (so they give it 4 full days between)
I do want to stress that this is something I go to only AFTER people have tried one attempt and then tried e4d. This may sway more blue than either of those and thus it is not something to go to as a first or second or even third resort. I want you guys to have dropped ALL sway tactics that may inhibit odds of conception, plus give one attempt and e4d a good try before going to this.

Three times first month of TTC with one attempt! But I've miscarried twice. Now I get BFP only with single attempt on Clomid.

I got pregnant with one attempt one or two days before positive opk two times in three months. First BFP was a chemical unfortunately. DH wasn't fully on board to ttc, so I had to go with the flow and I thought better bd early than too late.

Well it was me that started this thread so thought I’d update you all that it’s taken me a year (12 or 13 cycles) to get pregnant. I ended up dropping all the swaying tactics as I realised I wanted another baby far more than I wanted a girl.
I’ve basically ended up doing a pretty classic boy sway (deliberately put on weight, started vitamins, stopped alcohol, lots of attempts). The girl swaying just didn’t agree with me and I did slowly drop sway tactics over the months before abandoning the whole thing after about 10 months. But I don’t care. A year of trying really put things in perspective for me. I spent my first pregnancy and first year of my sons life with severe GD. I’ve moved on from that now and am so excited to be pregnant again. Not going to find out gender this time - just don’t want it to be a factor.
I’ll post my sway soon to see if it’s of any help to boy or girl swayers

Thank you Atomic. My “sway” is essentially a boy sway (even though my original sway and preference was for a girl). Like I say I dropped sway tactics gradually but after 10 months I ended up doing a classic boy sway (I think?? I know far more about girl swaying than boy swaying but I was basically doing the opposite of a girl sway). My question is atomic... where should I post the details of my sway? Should it be in the girl section or boy section? Want it to be helpful for people xx

Yes PLEASE and still post it in the TTC a girl sway. There will be places to fill in about what happened and the things you changed over time. It is the sways where people did things differently that tell us the most!
