A bit of background info..

When I got pregnant with my son my cycle was 28 days and I ovulated on day 14 with a 4 day period, so it was very easy to fall pregnant with him. This time around my cycle has ben 23-25 days since I have been swaying and my luteal phase has been 11 days with a light 4 day period.

I have been swaying for 5 months now and have went from 132 lbs to 116 lbs, I am having a hard time gaining back weight since my appetite has also dropped with the sway, I am eating around 1600 calories a day with no breakfast or snacking.

These past two months my period has been very messed up. Last month my period came on time but only last 2.5 days and I spotted once a day for 5 days after that. It pushed back my Ovulation by 2 days and my period also ended up being late by 2 days, I was so excited and thought I was pregnant. Anyway, that period only lasted 36 hours. So my question is.. is my sway messing up my cycle? Should I stop swaying? Should I go to doctor in case it's something more serious? Or let it be for a few more months to see if it keeps up?

Yes, you're not eating enough and have lost so much weight that it's messed with your cycle.

The lighter period thing is something many, many of us have noticed on the diet and it appears to be part of how it works. So while I know it feels nervewracking that element is actually a good sign. I got my daughter the month after a very light period like you're describing.

All that having been said I don't think the solution is to stop swaying. What you need to do is RELAX on diet without giving it up. Increase cals a bit, be sure you're eating more like 50-60 g fat, add in a serving of full fat dairy every day and 4-6 eggs a week. Drop fiber if you are using it still.

I would not deliberately regain weight, but if a lb. or two sneaks back on that's fine.

Can you tell me more about your diet/exercise, and also what supplements you are taking, if any?

Oh thank you!! That is so reassuring!!

I will bring up my fat and add in the dairy and a couple extra eggs.

I have not been exercising, I work a desk job and don't have the energy at night with my son since my husband is gone often. I have been keeping my fat and protein around 45g. I have chicken a few times a week and have the odd red meat cheat every couple weeks. I haven't had any dairy other than cheese once in awhile and maybe have a few eggs every couple weeks. For supplements, I am only taking folic acid. I dropped fiber probably just over a month ago because I couldn't remember to take it before meals.

Somehow my husband has been home within 1-4 days of every ovulation since we started TTC. Next week I might be ovulating on Thursday and he will be home this Sunday so that one might be a bit of a long shot but I will have hope!!
