View Full Version : 2nd trimester loss... back at the swaying

Hi guys!
It's taken me a few weeks since my second trimester (19.2 weeks) loss of my successful sway baby girl, to come back on here. It was just so hard to come on here.
We lost our baby girl on june 29th due to something called cord stricture. Her umbilical cord was very small at the base. She didn't get enough nutrients. Its a freak accident that can happen to any pregnancy and is completely unstoppable. She had no chromosomal issues and appeared very healthy.
She was very much wanted and we swayed hard for over 7 months to conceive her.
I'm back on here now in hopes of giving this whole thing another shot.
We were ready to do gender selection (HT) ivf just to ensure we got our little girl back. However after talking with 2 separate (highly recommend) mediums... both assured me that I'll get pregnant naturally with a baby girl again soon. Like as in Oct. Even if they are both wrong... it gave me hope. Something you lose during a traffic event like this.
Long story short.. I've started cardio and LE again in preparation for our first attempt in sept/oct. My OB cleared us to start trying 1 cycle after losing her. I'll be starting 3 cycles after to give my bofy time to heal. I'm meeting with my RE soon in hopes of getting Clomid again for my attempt.
Anyway just wanted to say to everyone on here... enjoy your pregnancies and little healthy babies. I am so jealous of you all. Thank you for everyone's support on here too! [emoji7]
Anyone else swaying in fall?!

I'm also swaying pink again after we lost our longed-for daughter at 17 weeks in May. She had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck 3 times. She was a successful sway so I'm praying we can somehow make another girl!
I'd love to talk to both of you if you're interested!

Robin, as you already know my heart is breaking for you - I have no words to express how sorry I am.
But. I do have to mention that I really cannot support anyone walking away from IVF on the advice of a medium. IVF is a hard process and not 100% (you get a gender guarantee, but not a guarantee of pregnancy) but your odds of success with it do not improve with time and I have seen too many people decide to sway only to end up with an opposite and going back to HT in the end, only 2-3 years later and with much poorer odds. If it was something that wasn't right for you, wasn't right for your family, that wouldn't matter to me, but on the advice of a medium, I just feel like you possibly need to revisit this in your mind and with your husband (and please don't feel you need to reply to this or argue, I just have to say that because I don't want you to make a choice you may regret)
If you do end up deciding to sway, I'll of course help you however I can. Clomid is a great pink sway, diet and exercise are great, we know it's worked for you in the past but it is not the gender guarantee that IVF/PGD is.
I also want to warn you of a potential pitfall that I have seen with some of my swayers who have lost babies (particularly of their desired gender). They become very, very highly motivated, to and sometimes past the brink of obsession, with swaying. And it is the control-freak kind of behavior where they think about swaying all the time, want to do everything just perfectly, because they believe on some level that by doing so they can force the universe to comply with their wishes. But we've seen so many of the most dedicated, most intense swayers get opposites that I really do think it makes a huge difference in the outcome so I just want to give you a heads up on that pitfall so you can avoid it.

Thank you for your reply! Yes we haven't taken ivf off the table completely yet. If we do not conceive by dec/Jan we will be doing it. I hope to get Clomid in Sept/oct and start there first. I don't believe in ALL mediums but the one I went to predicted both girl pregnancies for me so I have some faith.
I am the complete opposite of those statistics you just posted. If anything this loss taught me how the little things don't matter and to stop stressing over things I cannot control. Also I feel that EVEN if you do get your desired gender it's not guaranteed you will even carry to full term! After swaying hard last time for months with no success... we are doing a more lax away. I am not doing one attempt. It never works for us.
I will be doing a modified version of LE and exercising bc I want to feel better. We just want a healthy happy baby to complete our family. Being stuck in limbo land really sucks!

its good to see you back robin :) i hope whatever path you end up following be it swaying or ht that you get your healthy full-term baby girl who you are all able to have and hold in your arms and not just your hearts, Mrs T and Nebethetepet i hope the same for you both as well
we lost our second child (first girl) at 18 weeks with no explanation ever found and i just want to say that although it may not always feel like it after a loss, a healthy pregnancy with a healthy full term baby at the end of it is possible, the road after loss isnt an easy one but i wish you all the best of luck on your swaying/ht/ttc journeys xx

Could I join? I lost my much longed for baby girl (successful sway) on the 25 July due to clots in the placenta and a potential clotting disorder (I am waiting for the official debrief). In the meantime I am starting the LE diet again and once I feel better from the birth, will begin exercising again. I hope it's ok if I join you x

It's a tough journey. I took some time off as well and then joined a gym. I actually found it helped a lot. It gave me a way to blow off steam.
When are you thinking of ttc again?

Hi Robin.
I want to ttc as soon as possible but have to wait for the post mortem and the results to see if I have a clotting disorder. I would've gone to the gym again but I am bleeding really heavily again and just feel too rubbish today, physically and emotionally. It's definitely a tough ride.

Hi ladies,
I would love to join you all. I am so sorry to read of each of your losses, it is unthinkable the universe can be so cruel. I am getting ready to begin my first sway as we will be TTC another daughter in January.
I have two beautiful boys who are 6.5 and almost 1 and a daughter who would have just turned 3. I lost her the week before she was due as the result of a cord accident. She was absolutely divine, perfectly healthy and my biggest baby yet. I still cannot believe she was lost when we literally had 7 days to go.
I am both excited and terrified to be pregnant again. My last pregnancy was terrifying and I expected to lost my son until he was finally placed on my chest.
I look forward to chatting to you all and hope we all get our take home daughters in the new year.
