What is the best way to track ovulation? CM or OPK?

I got smiley faces using OPKs, which was good - then a few days later I got CM like egg whites etc that lasted about 5-7 days - I thought that a positive OPK and CM would coincide meaning I was ovulating? What is accurate? I feel like the OPK showed ovulation before my CM turned up which is weird - should I just DTD on the smiley or wait til CM? TTC a girl!!

Attempt Monday then attempt again Friday
Sometimes ovulation can be delayed.

Atomic counts every 4 days for example - dtd Monday, dtd Thursday, dtd Sunday, and so on. So the day you dtd might be cd1 (probably won't! But just to explain) then cd4 is your next attempt.

They both have their issues. I feel like OPK are more reliable BUT sadly, even they suck LOL

What can happen is as follows:

Your OPK were accurate and then the EWCM was from the secondary estrogen surge that happens about a week before O. I have definitely had this myself sometimes for several days in a row, right when nothing should be happening.

OR

Your OPK was NOT accurate, it was a false positive, and then you stopped testing (understandably) or if using CBFM, you couldn't have continued testing anyway since it shuts off after positive OPK even if you don't actually O. Then, you actually Oed or tried to a few days after that and that is what the CM was about.

Sooo, either of these two is possible, the latter is a little likelier than the former. The only way to know for sure without blood tests/ultrasounds is to wait and see when AF comes in relation to these events . :)
