I had a cervical check at 10 this morning and I am 4 cm dilated and then I went to the bathroom and when I wiped I seen this.. is this from the cervix check or bloody show? I will be 36 weeks tomorrow 37272

It's probably from the cervical check because it tends to irritate the cervix and cause bleeding. It can also be from the cervix dilating if you're already four cm. Sometimes it breaks blood vessels and causes spotting but most likely it's from the doctor checking you. It could also be your bloody show, but even if it is it doesn't mean labor is imminent. I had mine a week before DS2 was born!

It is probably from the cervical check (and honestly, they have no real need to do that at 36 weeks and it is falling out of favor!) but at 4 cm dilated, anything is possible. Do you tend to go early??

I agree with ks - I had bloody show several days before I went into labor, at least a week with one of mine!

I also agree that checking for dilation is pointless. I was 7cm for a WEEK with ds2! With DS3 I was barely dilated and had him a few days later after being in labor for only an hour. My midwife has known women to walk around at several cm dilated for weeks and others be closed only to have the baby that night.

:agree: I was not dilated at ALL with my 3rd and I was SO disappointed but I had a super fast labor (and very painful too BTW!). I was having mild pains after a doctor's appointment earlier that day, then had one really big pain at home and something in my mind said it was time to go. I got to the ER and I just felt in my gut that I was having a baby soon, even though they checked me and said "nope, no way, you're only 3 cm dilated" (my husband was furious with me LOL) and they actually sent the doc home. Luckily for me a doctor was walking by in the hall an hour later when I had him! So I had gone from not dilated at all "maybe a 1/2 cm" in the doc's office that afternoon, to 3 cm when I showed up to the hospital, to a baby in my arms by 11 that night.
