How would I know if I have it? My only symptom is long, somewhat irregular cycles.

I am 32, with 2 boys and trying to sway for a girl next year. I am starting the LE diet but confused what kind of carbs I should be eating.

My GP referred me for an internal scan to confirm

You don't need to know for sure, anyone with any symptoms, I put you onto the alternate diet by default. You don't need to be quite as strict as someone who has full blown severe PCOS but you do need to follow the basic tenets and not eat a bunch of sugar and white carbs.

Thank you. I will switch over to the PCOS version of the LE diet (even though it seems to be a lot harder to stick to :( )

About supplements, currently in my Amazon cart I have: for me- folic acid, fibre gummies, saw palmetto, vitex and for DH- licorice root and cranberry. Thoughts?

Should I also get calcium and magnesium?

Also wondering about caffeine- in the PCOS thread it says avoid caffeine but I thought coffee was good for pink swaying? I love coffee and drink 2 cups a day so I'm hoping I can continue with this. I don't know for sure if I have PCOS but I think likely insulin resistant because I had low breast milk supply with both boys and I've read there is a link between IR and not enough milk.

I would use it for everyone if not for that (harder to stick to and more expensive) and also that it can make weight fly off of people.)

I can't sign off on supplements without knowing about people's unique health situations but yes that's what I do give to a lot of people in your age range. Do be aware that aside from the fiber and the folic (which is non-negotiable, we all take that or folate) none of the others have really been heavy hitters so may want to take that into consideration before buying them, unless you're super sold.

Technically speaking, those with moderate to severe PCOS are supposed to avoid caffeine. HOWEVER, as with all data, apparently, it's a very, very mixed bag in terms of real evidence about coffee - after all a lot of evidence is indicating it actually improves insulin resistance and can prevent Type 2 diabetes and I personally believe (based on a lot of research) that it is fine and also helps sways. Now, a lot of PCOSers (not swayers) may be adding a large sugar sweetened latte to a doughnut for breakfast and obviously that is not gonna fly with moderate to severe PCOS. But if you're changing your diet to control PCO anyway, you are absolutely fine to add in coffee for your sway, we've had outstanding success rates with the combo, and I recommend it.
