Olivian Elizabeth arrived Wednesday, Oct. 4th at 1:44am. She is 8lbs 3oz and 20in. She was successfully turned head down and was born vaginally. She is a perfect nurser and has had 3 wet diapers and 2 poopy diapers already! We are SO in love and forever in the Lord’s debt!

Pics to come!

Ahhh I’ve been MIA with sickness going around our family.... hopefully no one else comes down with it. BIG congrats XX!!! So so soooo exciting she is here!! We are still doing two weekly NSTs and I gotta stop stressing bc now my blood pressure is up. After being sick they decided to do labs since there was a little protein in my urine. Praying everything comes back normally so no early induction. So exciting all these babies are coming! This was by far a “shorter” pregnancy than my first two lol

Hi everyone! I’m loving all of the babies being born and can’t wait for all to come!
I just had my 36 week check up this morning! My doctor asked me to keep this baby in until 37 weeks which is Wednesday of next week. She said if I were to go into labor she wouldn’t do anything aggressive to stop it though.
I am 2cm dilated and 50% effaced. She said my cervix is still posterior and somewhat firm but she said that can change quickly. Yikes girls! I guess she thinks he will be here sooner rather than later! [emoji170]

Roe - how exciting you will meet your little man soon!

I am still hanging in there at 34.5w. Baby is head down, but not engaged and all is looking good. Kidney stone appears to have passed and pain is gone so far. :)

I have so long still (6.5w to our due date) so I'm still in the "get all the stuff ready" mode before I can't do as much anymore...

I have been trying to replace our Amby baby hammock (we thought we were done so we gifted ours to a friend). It's like finding a needle in a haystack, literally! And I don't want to pay $300 for a new one, for a single baby... Ugh. Besides that I just have pretty minimal stuff to get. (And have to pay off our midwife and birth photographer).

Did any of you do pro maternity photos? Or plan to/did professional birth photos?

Maybe try checking Craigslist for one? At least in our area,it seems if we are patient and look ahead of time we find what we want. I got a mama roo rockin swing that I’ve wanted for ages now off of craigslist!

We got professional newborn photos! Best $170 we ever spent! Thank goodness the CD was free because every single pic was Ah-Mazing!!! They would’ve been birth photos too, but we couldn’t since my labor was considered high risk. That was ok though- my DH captured some beautiful moments!

huge congrats, XX. That picture of your DS3 is soooooo cute.

I haven't been on here much lately. This pregnancy has been a bit rough. Platelets and iron low, no energy, lots of stress at work. Now I found out that my placenta is too low to birth vaginally so I'll need a C-section instead of the natural birth I'd planned with a midwife. *sigh*. At least baby is healthy. I'm only 34 weeks so I probably have at least 4 more to go or so, I haven't been scheduled yet.

XXforhubby
October 6th, 2017, 08:31 AM
(((Huge Hugs))) Erin514! I hope there is still enough time for your placenta to move 🤞🏻[emoji1317]! I’ll keep praying for you! I too was scheduled for a C-section, because Olivian was footling breech but not engaged. Luckily the ECV worked to turn her! Then she kept having dcells after contractions while on pitocin, and we thought I was going to have a C-section. Luckily inserting fluid around her relieved the cord and we went on to have a vaginal delivery.

I’m praying that you will too! Ask for another scan around 36-37 weeks. Keep us posted!

Thanks XX, I saw your updates back a few pages. I'm so glad a vaginal birth worked out for you. I do have another scan scheduled for 36.5 weeks, but the last scan was at 32 weeks and they usually don't move up much this late in the game. I'm currently at 6mm between the cervix and placenta, I need a minimum of 2cm to birth vaginally. Cross your fingers for me just in case!

She is a dream baby! Easy going, loves the boys, nurses well, and only cries when she’s hungry or needing to be changed! I mean, she can sleep and nap through my boys playing, rough housing, or with my DS3 having an epic meltdown! She even slept through Church service, when I got her out for communion, and even when I put her back in to leave!! I’m SO not used to this, but I’m loving it while it lasts!

Keep me in your prayers ladies. I have had to be readmitted to Labor and Delivery today, because my BP and liver enzymes were elevated. I was shocked at my postpartum BP check today that they were as high as 175/112. The thing is I have readings that are 140/80 or 136/72 but then I get readings up to 181/100 or 165/98. They started me on Magnesium Sulfate and gave me the smallest dose of Labetolol. I’ll be here at least until Wednesday morning.

Good news is I didn’t have any symptoms so I feel ok. I’m not having any side effects of the medicine. My baby can be here with me as long as my DH or someone is here with me. This sucks, but at least I wasn’t symptomatic. Ugh.

Thank you all so much for your kind words- they’ve helped me more than you could know! I’m off the wretched Mag Sulfate and now we have to see what my BP does overnight with just 200mg of Labetolol. Hopefully that does the trick to keep things in check and I won’t need to stay another 24hrs with Nifedipine on board 🤞🏻[emoji1317]!

My sweet baby girl is awesome [emoji4]! Nurses like a champ, sleeps well, plays during the day (making eye contact, faces, etc). She only gets upset if it takes me too long to get her latched or if she has a dirty diaper. I’m so thankful they let me bring her with me.

I now need to get better so I can get back home to my DS3. He’s having a hard time. It’s understandable- Mom and Baby Sister left home again. Please tell me he will be ok!

So I just have to put this out there as I feel like I am going insane. I told you all earlier that I had this uneasy feeling that something was going to go wrong with this baby and he is going to die at delivery or just before. Well, I keep thinking that it is just a fear that something will go wrong and put it at the back of my head.
Fast forward to now at 35w and I still have this strong feeling that the reason I am not bonding with this baby and can't imagine him home with us is because he is going to die during delivery. And I have a weird peace about the thought. I KNOW that this is horrible to say and feel, but I can't shake it.
Could this just be because he is not my DG and I am just having a hard time accepting he is my last baby? Or what? It is so very unlike me to be feeling this way about a baby. I have always bonded early on. It is like I just can't wrap my head around the fact that in a few short weeks this baby will be coming home to us.
Not sure if I am explaining this right and I know it sounds horrible, but if anywhere would be ok to write this, this would be the place.
Has anyone ever experienced this? It is very strange and troubling to me.

Well I ended up with pre-eclampsia for the first time. They induced me last night. Three hours unmedicated on pitocin and 30 secs of pushing and our sweet Finley Grace is here! https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171011/2197a070fa8eca29b97bc297681a2081.heichttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20171011/c990d8b9dfdc801c8761935ac1917299.heic

Oh Shannn, all of us here understand it. You don't have to feel bad about it. GD is such a witch!! I don't know gender yet, but trust me, it just make me sooo uncomfortable to even read on others post "its a girl" I mean I do feel happy for them, but just can't read the sentence put loud at all.

I know it is very hard to bond with baby of opposite gender. But I hope and pray as soon as your son is with you, you will be over the moon <3 Please do not feel bad about sharing your feelings, it is all normal. We are all here for you <3

(((Huge Hugs))) Shannshaff! It could be that you’re subconsciously trying to make sense of your GD and this is how it’s manifesting in your dreams. It sounds to me like it is GD driven. I’m hoping that it’s not your intuition, but if it is, I’m not sure if anything could really prepare someone for something like that happening. I would choose to stay positive. I know several people IRL who are fantastic parents, but when they were pregnant they were extremely detached to the whole pregnancy. I think some people just need the physical baby to be with them in order for bonding to occur.

Please know we are all here for you! Hang in there! You don’t have too much longer to go!

Huge congrats Jconger! Finely Grace is SO precious! You look Ah-maxing by the way! I’m so glad that everything worked out for you!

I ended up needing to be treated for Postpartum Pre-eclampsia. Luckily, I wasn’t having any symptoms or here than crazy high, all over the place, BP’s. Hopefully now that you’ve had your baby, the pre-eclampsia will go away. I hope you don’t need Magnesium Sulfate. That stuff is dreadful [emoji13]!

I’m getting pro maternity pictures done next weekend. I was going to have my outfits made but my seamstress flaked on me and just told me Tuesday that she wouldn’t be able to make them so I had to order somethings from eBay which I’m not thrilled about but I’ll make them work. I also thought about birth photos but since I’m more than likely having a csection I don’t think it would be worth it...

By the way, I just got this bra, and it is AWEsome. I can rarely find something that fits small-chested me, has no underwire, doesn't ride up AND has optional padding (my nipples are great for nursing but stick out, and I hate it/it draws unwanted attention). If you need a bra, I highly recommend this one. (I got it in pink, so pretty). https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B071KWKCH8/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?smid=A1YG676VKULD43&psc=1

Alright ladies... I need opinions

Nursing on cue or scheduled feedings?

Wilder is almost 3 weeks old. Surpassed birth weight, I'm using a shield, and I'd like to pump at least once a day to generate a stock for when I take a trip or have to photograph a wedding all day or whatever.

Thoughts?

Nann3r- I would just nurse on demand and only schedule a feeding if he’s gone 4hrs without one. My doctor and lactation consultant said to not let them go past 4hrs until they are a month old, which he is pretty close to.

I would just pump after feedings when you feel like it to build your stash. I hate pumping so I don’t build up a stash, but I don’t work so it’s easy for me to schedule things around feedings.

I’m so glad everything is going well! Olivian is doing great too! She’s already surpassed her birth weight when she was 7 days old! I’m sure she’s well over that now at 11 days old! It’s crazy she’s my biggest baby!

COngratulations to all of you! So many babies filling this place up! 1pink, didn't know you were team green! That must feel amazing!

Nann, he is so handsome! <3 From what I have read as of recent, if you feed every couple of hours, before they have a hunger freak out, you will get longer stretches of sleep at night, so that's somewhat of a schedule I guess you can say. I don't remember what I did 10 years ago... LOL so that's what I'll aim for this time around.

XX, she is so lovely! <3 soooo happy for you!

Roe, you look amazing! love the photos.

I was checked today and cervix is closed, she can't do a sweep even if I asked. I finally got the crib done and nursery will be up tomorrow, God willing. I started diffusing clary sage and doubling my RRL intake. DH is happy to help out ;) looooool.

Hi ladies! Hope everyone is doing well. I am 38 weeks 2 days and went to the doctor this morning. I’m 3cm dilated and 70% effaced. I’ve had a small amount of protein in my urine almost the entire second half of my pregnancy. Today, it tripled. My BP is stable so no issues with preeclampsia but she explained to me that proteinuria can also cause the placenta to fail which puts baby at risk (fetal demise). Well, obviously, at 38 weeks that’s not a risk she is willing to take so I’m being induced tonight. I’ve never been induced. I’ve always spontaneously gone into labor without much time to think about it. It’s been several hours and all I feel is nerves and anxiety. I want to be excited but right now that’s not how I feel. Hoping for a change in my mood and a safe, smooth delivery.

Hang in there Roedinga! I had never been induced either, but I was with Olivian because she was footling breech and has been turned via a Eversion. It wasn’t too bad- they started me out at a low dose of pitocin and worked up to a higher dose. Once I got to 7cm, I asked to have it turned off. They said they would see how I progressed. I progressed fine and delivered without anymore pitocin.

Ask to see if this can be an option for you, too. I couldn’t imagine being on pitocin during transition, since that is such a hard time on its own anyway! Honestly, the contractions on pitocin weren’t any different other than coming at a more steady rate.

Hang in there! Keep us posted! I can’t wait to see pics once you’re all settled!

Hi Roe you will do great. Since this is not your first pregnancy your body should be able to handle an induction better. I had a last minute emergency induction with my first baby with max dosage of pictocin and everything went fine. Just make sure the doc does not break your water too early (wait until 7 or 8 cm) to avoid a c section if that's not what you want. Also walking and bouncing on ball really helps the labor to progress!! So stay on your feet and move around as much as possible. They can give you a mobile IV. I will be induced at 37 weeks with this baby so good luck to us both!! [emoji4]

Roe i agree with ford. I think inductions are more favourable when you've had previous children. I was induced with my 3rd and it was not what i expected. They had broke some of my waters first but nothing happened so the drip went on. A few hours later he was born.

I completely understand your feelings though. Wishing you all the best

So excited with all these beautiful babies...and babies to come!!!

Just wanted to pick your brains....for those of you that have had your desired gender....are you done...? Are any of you contemplating swaying again?

I’d love for my girl to have a sister....but am I being greedy....?

Other half definitely doesn’t want any more...our girl was number 4, after 3 boys...

What do you guys think about swaying again?

Would you?

One reason that influenced me swaying with #6 is to give my daughter a sister. I would have loved her if she had been a boy, just as much, but I am elated that for our last little one, we have another girl, who will have and be a sister in my other daughter.

I have a twin sister and I can't imagine life without her. But I'm not sure giving anyone a specific gender sibling would be the "why" that I tried again... however if I was going to try, I'd try for a particular gender without pause (which we did).

Flomama- We are done! 4 kids is the max for us, and we both feel complete! After my postpartum pre-e, we are SO done! I’m not going through that again! Plus, my DH already got a vasectomy. We just felt we are done. I think you should keep your options open, since you don’t feel like you’re done.

Good luck to you!

Aw that's awesome!! [emoji171]
Well I'm "older" (41y) so my kids are 15, 13, 11, 9, and 5. That definitely helps. I work full time but used to be a full time Mom. I swapped my husband 7.5 years ago for that roll because his job was sending him out of town in increasing increments and it was going to be full time away and I couldn't do it. It was a hard but very worthwhile switch since we are still married and all that. We live by a shared Google calendar, let a LOT of things go, sometimes don't get any quiet time together for long weeks at a time... but life has been awesome in the stressful and hard parts put together and we wouldn't change things. We never expected to have 6...
And yes, we are blessed. Very. [emoji1373]

Roe, I was induced this time around due to my liver enzymes being elevated (no urine in protein) and was 38 weeks exact. I have always gone into labor on my own and arrived at the hospital at a 7 or for my second a 10. Being induced was very different and scary for me to. I won’t lie it was equally as tough as my first but i labored unmedicated (outside the pitocin and magnesium) and she came in three hours from when they started pitocin. Very quick. Difficult but an incredible birth story. I literally pushed her out in 30 seconds. Remember, all that matters is having a healthy baby in your arms. I kept telling myself that after my friend lost hers at 39 weeks just a few weeks ago. Hold tight and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s already here!!!

I find that my sacroilliac belt (SI Loc, recommended by my physiotherapist) helps my pubic pain a lot more than a generic maternity support belt. My SPD got really bad with DS2 but hasn't gotten as bad this time around. I find that keeping my knees together when I move (roll over, get out of the car, etc) and avoiding pushing movement (stroller, grocery cart, lawn mower) helps a lot.

Thank you all for you words of encouragement and thoughts! Palmer Kenneth arrived this morning at 11:34am weighing 7 lbs 13 oz and 20.25 inches long(smallest of my 3 boys). They started pitocin at 9-9:30 last night. I labored as long as I could but as they bumped up the Pit it got unbearable especially because my cervix wasn’t changing at all! I got my epidural which was lovely until it bottomed out my BP 80/50. It was scary and I felt like complete crap. They gave me meds to bring the BP up and then all was good. However, I still hadn’t progressed. Not even one centimeter! They decided to break my water at 6am. I quickly went from 3-5cm and stayed there. I thought for sure I’d be getting my first c-section. They bumped the pitocin to the max infusing dose and turned me on my side with what they call the peanut pillow to keep my hips open. By 10:45 I was feeling a lot pressure. She checked me and I was complete and ready to push. We waited for my doctor and after two contractions, our perfect little guy was here! We couldn’t love him more!

Ok I officially want this baby out lol. I'm tired of worrying about movement everyday. I wanted to go take some photos on wednesday since my step son will be here, but I dunno if I want to wait that long to try and get things moving. My hips and pelvis hurt, it's a huge pain to get out of bed, I can't drink much fluid or I may as well camp out all day at the bathroom. SO DONE lol.

I feel a bit crampy and I have a midwife appt on Tuesday. I'm really tempted to get a sweep, but afraid that if it works I won't make it to the photos wednesday haha. What to doooooooooo?! Midwife is okay starting things early for me since I'm VBAC and she'd prefer to see me go by 40W.

Anyone get membrane sweeps? How many before it worked?

Hi all...

Would you?

Xx

Hi! Just chiming in to say we are considering swaying again down the track. I'd love for my baby girl to have a sister. Hubby has given the go ahead for #6 if I really really want another baby lol. Not for at least another 18 months though...this last pregnancy was awful, not in a hurry to go through that again haha

Congratulations to everyone who has had their babies :)

just popped in from the december group and thought id answer this.. we swayed last year for baby #6 to give our daughter a sister, we had 4 boys followed by 1 girl and i really hated her being the only girl :( im not in any way slating families who feel complete after 1 of the opposite gender but for me it was not going to work, i always wished i had a sister(s) growing up and my mum was the same so i felt really determined to give my daughter what we never had.. it worked and we now have 2 little girls

i should add we want a big family :D and my 4 boys are so close that i really want to give my girls what the boys already have. we swayed pink again with this baby and our fingers are crossed it has worked (team green) we will also sway pink for all future babies too, after spending 4 years convinced i couldn't successfully carry a girl i will happily take as many girls as i can!!

i really think you know when you are done, if you dont feel that way then id keep the option open :) you only regret the children you dont have, never the ones you do.. good luck with whatever you decide to do xx

I had it done with my DS1. You can only have it done if you’re already dilated and effaced some. With my others, I didn’t start to dilate or efface until Labor started and then it progressed quickly from there.

I had them swept at 9am and was in active labor by 9pm. I also walked a lot that day to try and get things started too.

Hang in there!

Eve is now 2 months old can you believe! We are complete with our three kids.. I physically am not allowed to have any more anyway. I have a question, everyone that knows they are done, so you guys feel kind of sad? Well, not sad, more like bittersweet? I constantly feel torn between wanting her to grow and then wanting to pause time because she is my last and I'll never have a newborn again. It's such a strange feeling knowing that this is my last baby!
Anyway, here are some more professional photos of when she was 5 days old and now at 2 months

I just felt done when we found out we were pregnant with our 4th. For me, 4 is the max. Our family just feels complete. I’m still in the throes of the newborn stage, so I haven’t had time yet to see if I’ll be weepy about not having another baby. I’m sure I’ll feel bittersweet like you mentioned though. I think as mothers it’s only natural to feel that way, even if you’re done.

Mama-of-boys she is so adorable!!

I'm not even un-pregnant yet and I feel the bittersweet, yes. Time is crazy... and I have teenagers, it's going too fast...

I have resolved every season has wonderful and not wonderful parts, I want to spend some time writing what I love and love less, along the way, so I can enjoy it in retrospect too.

Saying goodbye to my reproductive life will be strange and sad and I plan to celebrate and mark it somehow... because it's note-worthy. You have done a beautiful job... [emoji175]

Yes it's strange isn't it! I also felt done as soon as I fell pregnant and we feel totally complete. But there is just something bittersweet about having your last baby I think. I find that I'm savouring each moment much more and reminiscing about all three of them as newborns, theirs births etc. However it is also nice knowing that I'll never be pregnant again and that we can now enjoy the next chapter of life.
Birthfree I love that writing idea - I may have to do the same!

I bought a new journal to do just that. I plan on writing highlights of each of their pregnancies, births, and unique things about them as they have grown. That way when they get older, they can read their section, or I can read it later as they get older.

It’s a strange time, both happy and sad for many different reasons. I agree, it’s totally noteworthy.

Congrats Roe and Wantanother! And all the other babies born. It has been a while since I have been able to post. Thank you to everyone that has asked about me.

I am still itching, but it has not gotten worse and my blood levels were in the normal range. I have been spilling protein in my urine for the past few weeks and have just had bloods drawn to check everything today. I have had a headache for a week and am seeing spots, but my BP is just fine. Not sure what the next steps will be, but I am starting to feel unwell. I will be doing what I can on my end to start things up and pray that all stays healthy for our baby.

Our mw told us at our 32w appointment that baby was a boy. We were team green, so this was upsetting to say the least. Then at our appointment last Friday, we were told that the mw made a mistake telling us that because nothing in our chart indicates gender. Say WHAT??? I am not sure if this is actually true or if they are just trying to cover their butts, but it has been quite the emotional roller coaster.

So now, I just want this baby OUT! End it all finally. I am assuming it really is a boy and just going with that, but what a cluster it has all been. Now to know my body is not doing well, I am just done. Work has been super busy training the temp to replace me, so I have not been able to catch up until now.

Now to know my body is not doing well, I am just done. Work has been super busy training the temp to replace me, so I have not been able to catch up until now.

Glad to hear the itching is not getting worse! Are they doing weekly bile acid blood draws giving that you are still itching? That would be the standard protocol given you are still itching and bile acid levels can spike towards the last few weeks of pregnancy. Hope everything goes well!!

Nope, since the last tests were negative and within the normal range, that was the end of that testing. They did do another test this week because I am showing signs of pre-e. But again, they are taking a very laid back approach and I am not real happy about it. At my appointment on Friday, I will be talking more about what needs to happen if I am still feeling this bad. (headaches and spotting in my vision).

Yes please follow up with your doc about a bile acid test. You can go to Icpcare.org for more info on the importance of regular blood test since you are still itching. ICP can sometimes trigger pre-e as well. I don’t mean to scare you but I am at the hospital as we speak getting a last min induction bc my bile acid level spiked from normal level to 66 within a week. Hoping that your bile acids and BP stay normal and you can avoid an induction.

Wish me luck ladies really want a healthy baby and no c section!

Good luck to all having a baby today or tomorrow! So exciting!!!

AFM - spent a few hours in L&D last night. The headaches and seeing spots got worse and I had one leg swollen, so I was advised to get checked out. My BP was 138/55 and hr was 124, so they did lab work and gave me an IV for fluids. Blood work came back normal and protein was trace after the IV, so they are having me do a 24 hr catch to see what that shows. If there are elevated proteins in that the midwife will refer to the maternal fetal med group for advice on if they will induce. UGH. I think my body just needs this baby out before something goes wrong. :(

I’m hoping that everything finally gets figured out for you Shannshaff! It’s unacceptable what they have put you through! I’m hoping they induce you soon!

Keep us posted!

Shanshaff, I'm glad they're monitoring you and will refer you if the 24 comes back abnormal. It sucks that you've had a rough pregnancy. I hope everything goes ok.

Congrats for all the new babies! They are all adorable.

AFM, I had a follow up u/s today for my low placenta, and it moved up from 6mm from the cervix to 4cm!!! This means they'll let me deliver vaginally instead of via c-section like I was told last time. I'm thrilled, especially since I've read it's rare for the placenta to move up at 36 weeks.
