What should cervical mucus look look and feel like when swaying for a girl. I know egg white and stretchy means very fertile so BD would likely produce a boy. Any input would be great as I am nearing ovulation. thanks :ttcgirl:

You can't tell by how it looks visibly. We have had people study/obsess over every aspect of CM and there seems to be no reliable info we can discern other than that O is appraoching.

That's the thing - we have had so many EWCM opposites (myself included) and it's a fact that we do need fertile CM to get pregnant with ANY baby, boy or girl, that at some point it has become pretty hard for me to buy into the CM idea. If there are differences, I suspect it is happening on a level that we cannot see with the naked eye (otherwise, we'd have gotten WAY better results than we did (especially back on Ingender) since a lot of people were not BD with fertile CM at ALL, only with creamy, and quite a few were still getting boys anyway.
This is one of those things that seemed plausible but over time and with observation I've had to admit that this is probably not a thing we can in any way rely on, unfortunately.

Thanks atomic. I haven't had a positive OPK yet but we BD on the 6th and I should get a positive on the 12th. Should we just wait until that positive OPK to BD or did I mess something up by BDing on the 6th?
The reason I was asking about CM is because mine seems to be clear and watery...is this normal leading up to Ovulation?

Thank you sofullofhope! I have never paid so much attention to CM but I've been freaking out when it gets closer to ovulation. I just want to do things "right" if there's even a right way lol. Last month we BD on first positive OPK and didn't get pregnant! I just stopped birth control the month prior but AF is on time so I'm thinking this might be the month! **fingers crossed**

Lol I've been obsessing over CM and OPK. I still test Ph although i don't think that plays that big of a role in gender. I'm sure hoping this is the month for me! I was pregnant the first month off birth control with my second!
this morning I got a positive OPK. My charting says I would ovulate on the 12th. Does this seem right? I'm so confused with the OPK and what a positive means.

No the BD on the 6th is so far away from the 12th (and you'd not O for a day or two after that, anyway) that everything would be dead and gone by then.
Clear and watery CM is still fertile and you can get fertile CM even a week in advance of O. I have gotten fertile CM even as soon as CD 3 (while still having AF, even) for a CD 14 ovulation. So while it is fertile it doesn't necessarily mean you will ovulate sooner.

No, I suspect you will O sooner than the 12th. Charting only tells you what happened last month. It is not predictive of what will happen this month, necessarily.
Obsessing is not great for a pink sway so I'd try to put the kibosh on that.

Dear Atomic,
Last night the control line looked close to being a positive... but this morning the 9th I got a positive OPK (I think?) I took 2 OPK in the morning. One was when I woke up at 6am and then at 9am. We BD before husband went to work this morning. Should that be considered as an attempt? Should we BD in 4 days? 37608

Dear atomic,
This afternoon I just had a little brown discharge when I wiped. None the next time I went to the bathroom. I did a little research and read something about ovulation bleeding. I'm wondering if maybe this is the first egg I've released since stopping my birth control. Are you familiar with this? I'm just a little worried that it messed with my CM environment as we BD this morning. Can the spermies survive in a climate with a tinge of "blood"?
***update 9/10 OPK getting lighter! I think I caught the correct BD day. Feeling hopeful!

Yes sperm can absolutely survive with a little blood in the CM. It's super common for a variety of reasons.
Even though I agree you probably had a perfectly timed attempt, I do still like you guys to pick it up with e4d in the 2ww if possible just to guard against false positive OPK.

Atomic,
Thank you for all your helpful advice! I know you have a lot of questions to go through each day, so I really appreciate you taking the time to help with each question personally :pray: praying for some pink!

I was taking multiple allergy medications and Sudafed (all things that decrease CM) when I conceived my second boy. I remember worrying I wouldn't conceive that month because my CM was almost nonexistent. Just my two cents.
