View Full Version : Grapefruit Juice Question

I am ttc a boy (trying to increase my fertility overall). I always get ewcm but in an attempt to try to get more I decided to use grapefruit juice this cycle. I usually get at least five days of ewcm total, but it doesn't always seem to be a lot at one time (I do have to take allergy meds this time of year, so that may be why - but my hay fever is so bad this time of year I really can't avoid taking it - I did switch to Claritin though because I read that it is generally less drying than Zyrtec).

Anyway, on to my grapefruit juice question: does it matter what kind of grapefruit juice it is? I thought I read that the regular yellow / white, not from concentrate kind is best, but unfortunately after checking all the grocery stores in town, none of them seem to have that - all of the yellow kinds are made from concentrate. I did find a Ruby Red not from concentrate, so I bought that, is that good enough? Or would I be better off buying the yellow from concentrate kind?

I am also drinking club soda and spring water with lemon juice to help as well, and have more or less eliminated soda (maybe have one once every week or two). I mostly drink club soda and water anyway so adding a little bit of lemon juice to it was an easy thing to add.

I am currently on CD 11 (looking like O on CD 15 based on advanced digital OPKs and cervical position), and I do seem to be getting more ewcm today than yesterday, so something seems to be working, for what it's worth (or it could just be because I am moving closer to O).

Hey, I will say I have definitely gotten boys during times when I had to take antihistamine due to allergy so I know it's possible.

I think most of the Ruby Red ones have a lot of sugar or corn syrup in them and are less effective (but so much tastier!) than the white/yellow kind. Technically I think the NON Ruby Red ones are better for EWCM but ya gotta do what ya gotta do...I'm not sure I could stomach the other kinds of grapefruit juice TBH!!!

Good luck and blue dust headed your way.

Thanks Atomic! Next cycle I might make an out of the way trip to Whole Foods or another shop like that to try to find the non-concentrate Grapefruit Juice, or I may just not use it. I have noticed it seems to make the ewcm really runny / watery / not as much like egg white consistency (though still stretchy, just not as much so), and still slippery. I read it thins the cm so I'm wondering if it thins mine too much. From what I understand the closer to egg white texture it is, the better?

Nope, watery is still fertile. Doesn't ahve to be egg white. :)

Sofull, I'd not have you do the grapefruit. Yes we believe it may sway blue. If you are lacking in EWCM we can use some tricks to improve upon that but I don't think you need the grapefruit since you are swaying pink.

Thanks Atomic! Here's hoping it worked fx

Sofullofhope pink dust your way!! I will gladly take your blue dust!!! I actually have no children yet but due to my age I will likely only be able to have one at this point and I have always dreamed of having a little boy..... That said, I have four nephews, and my parents have no granddaughters, so I know a little girl would bring so much joy to the family too. Although I'm swaying boy, I really wouldn't be all that disappointed either way (which is a good place to be, I suppose). I will just be grateful for a healthy baby.
