Ok guys... I need your help!

I am going to buy ovulation test strips and do one everyday to find out when I ovulate. My question is, if I am ttc a girl, should I do these tests everyday for a few months so that I can get an idea of exactly when I ovulate so that when we ttc we can do it a few days before, OR do I take these tests and when it says I am ovulating, THAT is when we dtd?!?!?! I thought for a girl you are suppose to dtd a few days before you ovulate. ??!?!

I have never taken these tests before, so I am doing more research. It looks like when the test is positive, or smiley face, that means you will ovulate in a couple days? So dtd when the test is positive?

Aghhhhh too much info! Lol

One attempt at first positive opk is what has been swaying girl most :) (trust me I've read countless posts to be sure hehe)

No. Your cycle can and typically WILL change while swaying and there is no benefit to tracking for months on end. Plus, contrary to popular belief, timing doesn't sway anyway and most of us on here have at least one, if not multiple timing opposites.

Full case against timing is here https://genderdreaming.com/forum/gender-swaying-general-discussion/7691-trouble-timing.html

Yes, when the test is positive you still have a day or two until O occurs. We have found that having one attempt at that point is a good idea becasue while timing doesn't sway, one attempt only seems to, and it's a good point in time to conceive from one attempt.

And how do we work around this? I've read some people getting positive twice within a two week span..how do you know when to DTD? Thanks!

Yes, both false pos and false neg OPK are possible. The work around for false negatives is just to have attempt if you think you might be ovulating, and the workaround for false positives is to have attempt at the first pos OPK, and then if you get another later on, have another attempt then if it's been 4 or more days later
