View Full Version : Why are potty shots unreliable?

So based on ramzi and skull theory I would have a girl, but when I got a quick glimpse at a potty shot (12 wks)- I saw what definitely looked like a penis. The baby had its ankles crossed and the pic was from feet up. I'm kicking myself for not asking if what I saw was a penis. I want a girl so bad, but I'm pretty sure it's game over with what I saw on the potty shot.

Potty shots are not reliable at 12 weeks because boys and girls have nubs at that gestation. 14-15 weeks is better for a potty shot, but 16+ weeks is even better since girl parts tend to be swollen. Ramzi theory and skull theory are not accurate so please don't rely on those.

Clearly I am driving myself crazy over this. Pathetically I was up about 50 times last night worrying about it. I need to let it go but it's so hard. This is probably my last baby.

What will be, will be. Your baby's gender was decided many weeks ago and nothing you think, say, or do can change that so there's no point in stressing over it. I hope you get your girl.

Potty shots are not reliable since boy and girl parts look very similar from below at that point and you just can't tell the difference. Even if you had asked they would not have known anyway and if they'd said something either way, you couldn't have put any stock into it. Plus, at that point it's really easy (since baby is so small) to have cord there and that just confuses everythign anyway.

Try not to obsess and feel anxious! Like everyone has said, there's nothing you can do, and what you saw could have just as easily been the cord!
Have you booked a gender scan? X
