View Full Version : Frequent release confusion

Hello everyone. So I’ve been lurking here for some time and have been following the girl diet for the past 5 weeks. I’ve read a lot of Atomic’s amazing information but I have to confess to being confused about FR to sway pink.
My hubby is 42 and I am 37 so I think abstaining is not recommended due to his age. Therefore to follow the frequent release strategy, do I have him release each day for the 7-10 before my estimated ovulation date (not inside me) and then we BD the day I get a +OPK?
I am confused because I also read a post from Atomic saying releasing every day significantly reduces the sperm so essentially the man would be releasing “dust” and significantly reduce prospects of falling pregnant.
Due to age I want to conceive ASAP really, with as much pink sway as I can. Ultimately a healthy baby (& soon) is most important to me though.
Thank you for any clarification!

Well, it does really cut odds of conception that's for sure. Some guys can shake it off and others can't. Unfortunately virtually all pink sway tactics DO cut odds of conception. Seems to be how it works.
The real issue is that it does that, and then it's not helping with sways anyway. Doesn't seem to be adding anything at all, so if you're concerned about that, just skip it. have hubby do regular release every 2-4 days instead, or just let him "do what he does" and then keep that one attempt. The one attempt actually works, the FR doesn't seem to (or at least not enough to justify the amount it reduces conception) and so anyone in a hurry to conceive start out with one attempt but ditch the fr/abstain.

Thank you so much for clarifying that Atomic - I think I was going in circles the more I read!

Think I may be being dim here but the more i read, the more confused i am getting...
Is the way forward 1 attempt better when husband releases every few days and dtd once at positive opk as opposed to everyday 7-10 days prior to positive opk?
Sorry for repeat questions

Yes please just allow me time to get through your questions and I'll be able to explain, it's just that I have not had time to get through them all yet. The more places you post similar questions, the longer it's going to take me to answer them. :)
We don't know which (if either) is better between having hubby release every 2-4 days (regular release) vs. having him do daily release for 7-10 days (frequent release, also called FR). We just can't compare them because two different groups of people use them. What we DO know is that one attempt has been very effective.
So, while some people want to try first using FR + one attempt (and that is fine if you want to do that) others choose instead to do regular release + one attempt for a better chance of conceiving with the one attempt. Either way can work, you need to do what feels better to you and will give you more peace of mind.
We have a lot of options because many different people want to have many different sways. The important thing is the one attempt. That has worked. So do that to start with, and then if you want to do FR in addition to that, totally fine, or if you prefer better odds of conception and go to regular release + one attempt, that's also totally fine.

Thanks for the reply and sorry!
Do you refer to 1 attempt as abstaining and 1 attempt
Or is the regular/frequent release still 1 attempt aswell - so sorry confused!

Don't apologize, just trying to make it a little easier on both of us. :)
One attempt is just having sex one time in the fertile window. Regardless of timing, frequency, or any other sway tactic. One attempt is just one attempt (and it has worked.)
then you can add things ONTO that one attempt, like you could do abstain + one attempt, or regular release + one attempt, or cutoff + one attempt, but the one attempt works without ANY of those things. One attempt is always just one attempt, no matter whatever else you're doing.
None of the other things - not timing, not FR, not abstain - have worked. One attempt HAS worked. We don't know why, but one attempt is gold and so you should do whatever you need to, to get pregnant with one attempt if you possibly can. You should drop all other sway tactics - FR, abstain, timing, jellies, etc. (other than diet, exercise, clomid/femara) before adding attempts.
