View Full Version : Cardio?

Ever since I started my sway, the only cardio I've been doing is walking. An hour for about 4-5 times a week. I want to try to start upping my cardio (trying other forms of excersizes) but I don't have much longer on my sway. Is walking alone good for a pink sway?

*most weeks I've been trying to get 5 and even 6 days of walking for an hour, (I don't really know the pace I go, I feel like it's pretty brisk, enough to make me sweat) in the mall.*

I actually prefer you guys walk or do mild low impact aerobics (Blogilates and Popsugar fitness on YouTube have these) because I find when people try running or more impactful exercises they invariably get injured and can't work out any more.

I think you're doing great, I'd say to continue doing exactly what you are doing.

Great! I'm not huge into fitness so I was kind of hoping what I was doing would be enough!
Does the cardio have more to do with weight loss or keeping blood sugar low? I tend to walk in the morning before I eat anything, not sure if that makes much of a difference in the blood sugar situation!

Both.

Great to exercise on an empty stomach, we believe.

That's what I've been doing thankfully!
I know just yesterday you were telling me about people getting injured and not being able to excersize, has that been a huge issue in girl sways? I didn't injure myself doing cardio or anything but I did hurt my foot the other night (totally bad timing) and it's a bit painful to walk for long periods of time. I'm hoping to be good in a few days or so, but was still curious if the lack of excersize for a period of time could derail an otherwise strong sway!?

Yes it's a huge deal. People have even broken bones trying to do too much while swaying. A friend of mine was hit by a car while riding her bike for a sway and broke her leg! And all along, walking has been good results anyway. So my inclination is to err on the side of not getting injured and stick to walking unless people are super fit already.

Just take it easy for now and then pick it up when you can. No, I don't think it's a swaykiller unless you're eating a ton of food and gaining weight at the same time. :)

That's horrible! I definitely do not go that hard with the excersize!

Glad to know it won't hurt my sway, hoping to be back to my walks very soon!

Thank you again for taking the time to answer my 1 million and one questions:)

I walk for an hour carrying my 15 kg toddler in a backpack - is that too much weightbearing exercise for a pink sway?

Hi atomic, today I actually looked up the two youtubes you talked about and did a 30 min cardio dance. I'm not gonna lie, it kicked my butt. And according to my fitness pal I actually burned more calories in those 30 mins then my 60 mins of walking! If I do a 30 min cardio dance on some days would that be ok for my girl sway? I don't think I could do 60 mins of that dancing! I used popsugar fitness and it was quite a workout! If I do have to do the full 60 mins could I space them out?

Maybe I'm not sure how to do this properly...I tried to post a thread about this, but I don't see it. Anyway, I did 8 weeks of almost daily walks for an hour. Then I broke my big toe big time. (Unrelated to exercise). Doctor had me off toe for 4 weeks. Started moving again, but had to stop due to poor air quality and asthma (fires in California). I make my first ttc girl attempt after 12 weeks of Le diet at end of this month. I've lost a little over 20 lbs and done well with diet, but is exercise start and stop going to mess me up? Is it ok to go couch potato at this point? I'm unsure of if and when I can exercise again. My lungs suck at the moment. Thanks!!! Proud of myself so far. Two toddler boys and haven't been this weight since college. Wearing skinny jeans before maternity jeans!

no as long as you're not gaining weight on a high protein diet

In that case it's better to stick to walking if you can. It is not about the amount of calories you burn it's the amount of time you are going for - something about doing cardio (even if less intense) for longer than 45 min. makes your body burn off stores of fat as fuel and we believe something about that sways pink.

No, the time has to be consecutive, unfortunately.

BUT all that being said if you are busy and can't get in your walk, and occasionally have to do a video instead, it's ok. but i'd still try to get 60 min. when you can.

They do have easier dance ones, though.

Got it! I was actually doing some more research on YouTube today and found quite a few videos that seem much easier, I'll definitely give them a shot on the days I can't get my walk in, especially with the cooler weather coming right around the corner, they'll be very helpful! I'll definitely stick to the hour! :)
