View Full Version : Pregnitude - short LP or just spotting? So confused...

I started Pregnitude this month since we will be TTC a girl in January. We weren't careful this month though and had sex 4 days before Ovulation. My cycles have been irregular so it was hard to know when I would even ovulate. My last cycle was 54 days long. I started Pregnitude a couple weeks ago. Well, I am now 7 DPO and started bleeding this morning. It doesn't seem like spotting as I had a couple clots in the toilet and my tampon after a few hours had a decent amount on it.
Is it possible Pregnitude made my LP 7 days!? I was temping AND using OPKs twice a day, so I am 99% sure of when I ovulated. You can see the negative OPKs on my chart and the temp spike.
I've never spotted between cycles and am really confused. Pregnitude was going to be my first attempt at regulating my cycles before just going on birth control, but I really don't want to have to do that...

How long is your LP normally? Are you breastfeeding? Your temps seem rather rocky, are you temping same time every day before moving around? It does seem like you are getting AF and are just having a short LP. I do think it's possible though that it's implantation bleeding. The temp dip could be either from AF or implantation...hard to say. You'll have to see what your temp is tomorrow.

I think you may have ovulated sooner than FF gave you crosshairs but even if you didn't it may just be a goofy short cycle after your goofy long cycle - meaning it may not continue in the future.
Do you have any update? Did AF come all the way?

It ended up being AF. My luteal phase has always been 13 days. I’m pretty sure on ovulation since I was also using OPKs twice a day and didn’t get a positive until right before the day I got crosshairs at. I’m not breastfeeding, but I stopped four months ago and it’s been weird cycles since. At least I ovulated sooner this cycle, but the short LP has me so confused! I’m not the best about taking my temps at the same time since my wake up time varies a little, but I do my best!
I’m going to keep taking the Pregnitude and give it more of a chance since less than a month isn’t much time to do anything.

The thing with Pregnitude is that it does absorb some fat and fat soluble nutrients (kind of like fiber)
So, if you have a short LP due to PCOS that's great, it can lower hormone levels and help normalize your LP
But if you have a short LP because your hormones are already on the low side (both too high and too low hormone levels can cause short LP!!) and take Pregnitude it may make matters worse.
Sooo - while I"m inclined for you to give the Pregnitude another month to see what happens (if it's short next month we need to give er the old heave-ho!) I just want you to understand that we can't totally know what's going on and if the Pregnitude is hurting more than it's helping. :)

Thanks, Atomic! I am having a hard time knowing whether it's doing anything right now. I want to give it enough time to actually work, but I have no idea where my hormones are at. I had actually gone into my OB hoping they would check my hormone levels and all they did was tell me I could go on birth control to regulate my cycle. Sigh. There's a lot of places here who do the saliva hormone testing, but it's pretty expensive.

Yes, unfortunately that's endemic. :/ The thing is we don't even know what your hormones are "supposed" to be and it may not be any set number that we can look at and tell, it may be what your body has perceived to be changes in hormones so your numbers may not even be at all telling.
I would save your money honestly.
