Hi everyone,

Hubby and I are team green for this baby, mainly because he doesn't want to know! We somewhat tried swaying pink, but I'm not sure how well I stuck to the diet.

I had an ultrasound today at 26 and a half weeks to check on my placenta, but the tech measured and showed us the baby as well. We told the tech we didn't want to know/see gender. Well, to my surprise, she was measuring the length of the legs, and then panned the camera through them and put both of them into the shot on the screen (that classic potty shot you see posted for gender reveals) and said: and there's its bum...and the bowels! So there was no mistaking what we were looking at.) So on the screen for a few seconds was this potty shot where the bum and legs were completely visible. My husband was horrified! I was surprised she even showed us this area as in all my previous ultrasounds the techs have avoided that area, told us to look away, or turned the screen off to take leg measurements.

Before leaving, I asked what baby was measuring and she said: umm...he's measuring at...
After we left, my husband was very upset as he feels the tech completely ruined the gender surprise, eve though she referred to the baby as "he" at the end (my husband thinks she was trying to cover up what she gave away on the screen.) We compared "notes" and both saw the same thing: nothing in between the legs. Baby's legs were both visible, not overly close together, and eventually came together (connecting at the base of the body) and behind it was the bum. My question is this: At this point in gestation, would there definitely be a visible penis and scrotum on an ultrasound at this angle? Is it possible it was hidden in the shot at all? Or is it more likely my husband is right, and the tech did give the gender away with this view? Anyone have any similar experiences?

Thanks for any replies! I would be thrilled with a girl but don't want to get my hopes up.

they always call the baby he, it's a rule they follow

but be careful because they can focus the wand to show the butt and not the genitals so you may have just not had the bits shown up on the screen.
