Attempt at solid smiley or night before?

I am using the clear blue advanced opks, and just doing one attempt. Since with clear blue you test first thing in the morning is it ok to wait till that night to dtd or is it possible that the attempt will be too late. My cycle is still fairly regular in that I get a positive opk on CD 17 so I could dtd on CD 16 night to make sure I don't miss ovulation

I've never done just one attempt before and it makes me nervous!

Most will O 24-36hrs after +opk so the night of +opk is usually plenty of time to catch the egg. Some can O as early as 12 hrs after +opk but if your checking in the am and pm you should have plenty of chances to catch the surge with time to BD.

^^What she said. DTD later that night after getting a pos OPK is fine. Ovulation usually happens 12-24 hours after the first positive OPK so that's generally enough time for the sperm to capacitate and get up to the egg.

why does one attempt make you nervous?

It's fine to just BD the night of the first solid (positive). Plenty of time still

Then do every 4 days instead.

Most of the people who "ovulate 12 hours later" do so because they don't test often enough or at the right time of day. So they get less of a warning then those who test religiously and regularly
