Yesterday... 2cp of coffee with creamer, 10am fat free yogurt, 1pm CL w/fiber and about 4 bites of leftover Chinese food, 4pm fat free yogurt, and at 7pm CL w/fiber some buttered bread 1/2cp of carrots and 4 bites of chicken. I drink about 1cp of water every 1 1/2 - 2 hrs. If I had to guess the calorie count was about 1200 but I was so full.

Today will be about the same but for dinner we will have pasta (the boys will have sausage, they love it so much I let them eat mine)

I did a little to good loosing weight so I added a few sugar free snacks for this next week... I am afraid of loosing weight to fast.

I only cheated on 2 meals last week and they really weren't that bad. I ate a small amount of chicken panang and some nachos. Not much meat but the fat and salt were high.

Found a promising salad dressing…It’s from the Panera Bread place (not sure if anyone knows this place) but now they sell the dressing in our grocery stores. It’s called Panera Raspberry Vinaigrette and here’s the info for 2 T.:
Cals - 20
Fat - 0
Sodium -45 mg
Protein – 0

While I’ve tasted the dressing and it’s not my favorite, it’s definitely okay and maybe something to use when I need to keep fat, sodium &/or cals low for a meal.

I love, love, love salad and eat a HUGE one at least once a day but I’m always getting bored w/the dressings I buy or make. Does anyone have a good one I can try that’s girl-sway friendly???

Good for you, PP! When will you next TTC? That weightloss is great and you're smart for not wanting to lose too much too fast.

My next cycle starts 11/23... the night we drive 4hrs to spend 4 days with my amzing IL's and my horrible SIL. I have to be good with my diet until then because I going to have a 4 day affair with a 4lb Honey Baked Ham, and I don't plan to share! I am also going to enjoy my stepmoms Cranberry Jello Mold (sugarfree jello and fatfree yogurt).

I can't believe I lost 6lbs in about 4 1/2 days... I am adding skinfree apple and pear to my day and a few sugarfree cookies. For the extra calories and my POT was to low. so far it is hard but in a few days I should be ok.

Wowzuhs! You must have had the flu or something (which I had last week but didn’t lose much weight unfortunately). I'm slightly jealous...I need to lose 6-7 lbs. Hope all is well. You’re doing great!

I have had a sore throat and a little cough but no flu.... My cals were way to low. I hate loosing weight so fast because it makes me feel sick and lazy. I added a few more things and I will work up from there a little as needed. I just finished eating 1cp of fat free yogurt and 1/2 a pear... I can't belive I feel full.

Kinda hard to avoid the SIL she is in the next room and everyone spends the days watching her child. I just wish she would parent her kid because I am tired of my boys learning from her... Why do I have to scold a child that isn't mine, while her parents are right there laughing at what she just did! They yelled at her once last year for opening her mouth with pasta in it but they didn't say a thing when she threw a hard plastic ball at my sons head (he was 2 1/2). And my SIL better not dare try to insult us again for given our kids meat. When her daughter wanted some ham she told her "you don't want to eat baby piggy"... my son is old enough to understand this now and we tell him about eating meat but we don't use the words baby.

I really want to hide in the closet this Thanksgiving... with my kids and the ham!

Hey!

I'm not on the diet as yet but i am making small changes to my current diet so the change isn't such a shock to the system when i do start it properly.
I'm usually a high ish protein eater, i'm really struggling to lower my protein to 40-50 grams. Its not unusual for me to have over 150 grams.
I've noticed even a single chicken breast is 35+ grams which scares me lol!
So my question is, if there is a significant reduction in protein in your diet will that have a positive effect on a sway or do your levels have to be as low as 40-50 to make the difference?

Can someone help me (new here). Am I right in thinking that Splenda adds to girl sway? And Truvia would work for a boy sway? I am currently using a LOT of truvia and ttc a girl. Thank you so much!

Sorry to ask again (new here), but how many calories a day should I be aiming for to sway for agirl? 1100?

rainbowflower
November 9th, 2011, 05:30 AM
Kell - having less is certainly better than nothing. You're right that even chicken is very high in protein which is why the LE diet says to avoid all meat. If you have to have it some days try and limit the days you eat it on and only eat a small portion when you do? When doing the LE diet I allowed myself chicken twice a week, and the rest of the days were vegetarian.

Hoping - the LE diet says this:

1)Lower calories - aim for 1500-1800 cals a day, but lower is lower, going from 2500 to 2000 is still an improvement. The Oxford study found that moms who conceived girls ate hundreds fewer calories than moms who conceived boys did. PLEASE try and resist the temptation to cut back further than this.

The Low-Everything diet is meant to be a healthy alternative to some of the more restrictive swaying diets out there, that you can stay on in the long-term and give yourself the freedom to pursue other swaying tactics without worrying about destroying your health if it takes you several months to conceive. Eating too few calories will reduce your fertility (which is what we WANT for TTC pink) but if you restrict yourself too far, you'll stop ovulating. 1500-1800 calories is recommended as safe by reproductive endocrinologists as a good caloric intake for losing weight while maintaining fertility.

 Hi, Kell and hopingforagal!

Kell, rainbow is right...any reduction in your high protein diet is a step in the right direction!!! Just try to gradually reduce it and see where that'll take you!

hoping, I've heard that Splenda is okay for a girl sway. I'm still using Stevia/Truvia sometimes although it is said to sway blue. For me, I'm just going to leave it in my diet for now and then slowly cut it out but I won't be including Splenda or Aspertame. As far as cals go, I agree w/rainbow. Right now, I'm going a bit lower since I'm just starting out on my sway and want to jump-start things and lose 6-7lbs. In a few wks, I'll go back to 1500+.

I have been very bad today and dinner is going to be killer.... 2cp coffee, 1/2 roasted chicken for lunch, CL with fiber, and a Lamb Roast for dinner. Tomorrow until Thanksgiving I am going to not cheat and see how much I can loose.

I did 1hr on the exercise equip, 2hrs of workout videos (a friend came over), and 2 hrs of carpet cleaning... I hope I burned off the chicken!

Hey ladies - I'm back after a m/c a couple of days ago. I'm hoping to make my attempt after my first period, so I'm starting to ease into the diet again now to get ready for that. I'd like to lose 5-10 of the pounds I gained while pregnant (almost 3 months of eating anything and everything made me pile on the weight after being so skinny when I got my BFP). I'm not going to be as strict with the diet this time around - partly because I know that TTC after a miscarriage already sways pink, and partly because I just don't want to put my family and friends through that kind of worry again - I just got too skinny too fast.

I'm going to go vegetarian really soon - I might eat meat for a couple of days since I'm sure I'm very low in iron after all that bleeding I did, but then I'll stop all meat. I'll go back to a lot of my old staples: rice with yogurt and lemon juice (what I'm eating right now for lunch), pasta with creme fraiche and parm, pasta with pureed butternut squash and parm, etc., but I'm going to eat more normally when I'm out with family and friends so they won't think I'm starving myself again. I'm also going to allow myself small quantities of both chocolate and garlic - two of the things I missed the most last time around.

I've already started skipping breakfast - that's something I never found hard to do anyway. I'll be watching sodium, protein and calories, but this time I'll make sure to get a minimum of 1500 calories a day so I don't lose the weight too quickly. I also may allow myself 40-50g of protein instead of sticking just to 40g all the time.

Christmas is going to be tough - we'll be flying across the country and staying with my in-laws for a full week. I can probably skip breakfast without anyone noticing, and I might be able to manage most lunches since they usually have very informal make-your-own lunches, but I'll have to eat whatever my MIL serves for supper. That sucks because that might be right around the time I'll be O-ing. It all depends on when my first post-m/c period arrives.

It's weird to be back on the diet. This diet consumed my life for nearly half a year and I thought I was done with it forever. It was a little depressing grocery shopping today and seeing all the things I can no longer eat, but at least I know I *can* to this diet - I've done it before and I survived. The first time I did the diet I didn't know what to expect, but I know now that eventually the hunger pangs go away and your body gets used to less food. I also know all the tricks for finding allowable treats - ice cream, gelato, candy - I'll be indulging in them all as a reward for eating tiny bland meals and not snacking in between.

Isn't it strange being back on the diet, Mocha!?! A few days on it and it all comes back to you! I say take a few days, even a wk if you need to as far as cutting out some of the foods you love and cannot eat on the diet. That way, it'll be easier to stick to the diet if you ease your way into (at least it worked for me!). For Christmas, I think it'll be a tough one for all of us! Just do what you can but try not to worry too much. If you O while away, I know you guys will make it work...I remember the time at the summer cottage, lol! You certainly made it work that time!

What is everyone eating these days? This whole wk, I've been eating HUGE salad & air-popped popcorn for lunch and then a HUGE salad and my raspberry/psyllium husk/rice milk smoothie for dinner. I'm not sick of it yet and may keep doing this for the rest of the week and then change up my menu...

Mochagirl
November 16th, 2011, 02:31 PM
Oh dear, yes - the memorable cottage stay while O'ing . I learned how completely unromantic it is to dtd in the woods in northern Ontario at dusk - mosquitoes biting our nether-regions, worried that a bear or worse...my Mom...was going to suddenly come ambling down the path....

Yes, I'll make do. Ack! But I just realised we'll have the same problem since our whole family will be sharing a room at the in-laws! Maybe I'll luck out and O before Christmas, then I can just try to watch my snacking but otherwise indulge while away because I'll be in the 2WW. Otherwise, we'll be having to dtd at night in our rented car on the back roads of Nova Scotia...

It is very strange being back on the diet. It took me months after my BFP to feel normal in the grocery store - I still felt like I needed to read every label and be constantly on the look out for hidden low protein and sodium foods. Now, just as I was starting to feel normal while buying groceries, now I'm back to obsessing about the nutritional content of everything again. I logged into FitDay for the first time in months today too.

I'm definitely going to have some treats this week. My Mom's coming to visit for a couple of nights while dh goes away this weekend for a conference, and as I said I really don't want her to worry I'm not eating enough. We'll probably eat pizza, milkshakes, etc., but it will just be for a couple of days. I might make supper one night, which would be easy because she likes a lot of girl-friendly foods. I could make her squash risotto and she'd love that.

As I said, I had rice with yogurt and lemon juice for lunch. Luckily I kind of like it and it really fills my stomach. As of now I'm at only 350 calories, 40g of sodium and 6g of protein for the day, so I have lots of room for a yummy supper. I'm thinking I might have pasta (the real stuff - I'm not quite ready to go back to rice pasta yet) with roasted butternut squash and parmesan.

Hi girls - I am new to thus forum do sittings I am going back over old stuff.

But may I ask, what us the rice/yoghurt/lemon juice meal you are talking about?

Thanks

Mochagirl
November 17th, 2011, 10:33 AM
Welcome, Pray4Pink. The meal is nothing exciting - just a way to make rice a little more exciting while staying within the bounds of the LE diet. I started by mixing a TBSP or 2 of plain yogurt with my white rice. Then I thought I'd like to add a little more flavour to it, so sometimes I added a squirt of lemon juice or balsamic vinegar. Every once in a blue moon I also add a little cumin to give it an Indian flavour. It's actually quite yummy, and I even found myself eating it once or twice after my BFP.

I tend to eat rice almost every day for lunch on this diet - it fills me up nicely, but uses very very little of my protein/sodium budget for the day.

Pray4Pink, a few mos ago a few of us would post our menus for the day. Mocha came up w/the Yogurt/Rice/Lemon juice/Cumin meal. Basically, you take plain low-fat or non-fat yogurt, some cooked white rice, a bit of lemon juice and a bit of cumin seasoning. Stir it up, then eat! If you like the taste of cumin, you'll like this. Otherwise, you can do like Mocha did yesterday and just have the plain yogurt w/a bit of lemon juice. Hope this helps!

This is weird. I gained weight REALLY quickly after my BFP - 13 lbs in less than 2 months. I also had quite a belly developing - not a baby belly yet, but just flab and bloating. Now, only 2 days after my m/c, I've already lost 5 lbs and my belly is completely gone. I've gone from wearing loose tops and hoodies to hide my belly to wearing my size XS shirts again. Maybe it's the sudden elimination of salt from my diet and the resulting loss of water weight? At least I'll be able to get a little more use out of my size 0 stuff before I start gaining weight again, cause I'm sure I'll never be this skinny again.

Mocha, that's really cool! :agree: WOO_HOO!!! You are off to a great start...infact you're there already, I think! I only lost 2-3 lbs after my m/c and I didn't really eat for a wk but my weight just stayed the same for the most part. I am not as skinny as you (and was never a size 0!!!) but I do fit into my size 26 jeans. If I lose more weight, great! But if not, I just want to be preg w/a healthy bean this time. Yesterday, it was tough but I stuck to the limits. I'm already ready to eat again, and I just started the diet again, lol!!!

Thanks, Jen. I figure I'm good to go regardless of whether or not I lose more weight, since I'm now at 118 lbs and I was 128 when conceiving all my other kids. I don't really want to get back down to 109 again like I did last time I was TTC - I think I was so skinny it was making it harder to get pregnant.

Yeah...you were super-skinny!!! All you need to do now is O, girl!!! I was 20+ lbs heavier w/my boys so I'm not too concerned. I'll try hard to go no higher than a size 27 durning/after pregnancy, but won't be bothered to go lower. Come, on, AF, I want my next O!!!

Last night I had one more big clot come out (sorry for the TMI) that contained lots of grey tissue - I'm fairly sure that was my baby's sac they saw on the u/s the other day. Hopefully that means my uterus is clear now and I'll stop bleeding soon. I'm definitely going to start monitoring for O and I just might take a chance and try for it (though I may panic and decide I should wait until after af arrives). It would be soooooo nice to be done with the diet by Christmas!

Ok, I need to get back into sharing my food for the day to keep myself accountable. I had a lot of cheats over the weekend while my Mom was visiting, so I'm trying to get back into the swing of things.

7am: coffee
12pm: spinach salad with chopped egg (atomic suggested this to increase my iron levels) and balsamic vinegar, 2 Peek Freans Lifestyles (sugar free) cookies for dessert
5:30pm: 1.5 servings pasta with pureed butternut squash and parmesan, a small serving of my kids' caprese salad (this tipped me over the edge with protein for the day), 2 more sugar free cookies for dessert
8:30pm: grapes, a glass of wine and Sour Patch Kids (very elegant, I know)

Calories: 1465
Protein: 49.5g (I'm ok with this - I think this time around I'm going to let myself eat up to 50g)
Sodium: 512mg

Wow...feels like old times...logging food again w/you! So glad you were able to get a nice visit w/your Mom, Mocha!

- Coffee w/a bit of rice milk

- BIG salad, little bit of dressing, big bowl of air-popped popcorn

- BIG salad, little bit of dressing, Raspberry/Fiber/Rice milk smoothie, 2 packages of Trader Joe's Seaweed (it's kinda my vice lately...)

That was yesterday's...Today will be similar. I'm really into my salads but still searching for flavorful, yet girl-sway worthy dressings. I found a really great one a while back but it had Sodium Benzoate in it (I don't touch that stuff) so it's a no-go.

Mochagirl
November 24th, 2011, 09:20 PM
Hi GeCon - I eat a lot of pasta too, but there are definitely ways to eat other things on this diet. In the past I've made veggie quesadillas/burritos by combining and heating no salt added black beans, a can of no salt added tomatoes a bit of chli powder and cilantro, spreading it on salt-free corn tortillas and adding 30g of cheese, then eating them with fresh low sodium salsa and fat-free yogurt. I've also made cannelloni stuffed with ricotta and spinach with low sodium pasta sauce and parmesan on top. Tonight I made pizzas on low sodium pita with low sodium sauce and 30g of mozzarella (I could have added lots of veggies too but I didn't have anything on hand).

Mochagirl
November 24th, 2011, 09:28 PM
So...last night was a bit of a wash. I did really well all day:

9am: coffee
12pm: spinach salad with beans and balsamic, pineapple, 2 sugar free cookies
5pm: apple
8pm: Greek food takeout - veggie pita with tzatziki, Greek salad

Before dinner my intake was:
Calories: 294
Protein: 11g
Sodium: 98mg

But I'm sure that Greek food tipped me waaaaay over the edge with sodium (that salad dressing was gloriously salty and so was the feta). I might have been ok with calories and protein, though.

Today so far I've had:

7am: coffee
12pm: 1/2 cup mixed beans with balsamic, banana (this was tough - IG taught me bananas were evil and I've had trouble eating them while swaying since, even though they're fine on the LE diet)
5:30pm: 1 1/2 pizza made on low sodium middle eastern pita, with low sodium tomato sauce and 30g mozzarella, 1 cup steamed broccoli
8:30: ice cream, red wine

As of now, 8:30 I'm at
Calories: 748
Protein: 34.4g
Sodium 801mg

This always happens to me when I stray away from calorie-heavy pasta - I have trouble getting enough calories without getting too much sodium and protein. I think I may eat some candy and drink some cranberry juice to try to get myself at least to 1000 calories - I'm aiming for at least 1500 each day, so today was not very successful. Back to pasta tomorrow.

Hey, Amari...I just picked some up on Sunday. I haven't tried it yet but I'm excited to! I've been using Trader Joe's Ranch Dressing (in the refridgerated section). It's not too bad for girl swayers either...For 2 T., 30 cals, 1.5g fat, sodium 130, protein 2. It's not as flavorful as other brands of Ranch but it's not bad.

I've been MIA due to all the Thanksgiving craziness. I was pretty good w/the diet, even on T.G.(although I was a bit over in all catagories). I've been skipping breakkie for over 2 wks now and honestly, it's really easy. Here's yesterday's menu:

- 2 C. half-caf coffee w/ricemilk

- Smoothie (froz rasp., psyllium husks, coconut H2O), BIG bowl of airpopped pop-corn

- BIG salad w/a bit of goat cheese and dressing, coco pops (like rice cakes but w/corn instead, confusing name since theres' no chocolate in there at all) & strawberry jam mixed w/lite cool whip and a T. of low fat cream cheese.

- 4 C. Peppermint Tea, 2 C. Raspberry Leaf Tea (throughout the day)

I'm thinking today, I'll grill some portobellos and zucchinis (courgettes). Not sure about the rest of the day but I suspect there'll be a BIG salad in there somewhere!

I've been MIA too - it wasn't Thanksgiving here, but I was at my Mom's house and cheated quite a bit. Both of my days there I had yummy cheesy vegetarian lasagna and quite a bit of curd cheese, so I'm sure I was over for protein and sodium...though it could have been worse.

Yesterday was my first day back fully on the diet again.

7am: coffee
12pm: spinach salad with 1/4 cup white kidney beans and balsamic vinegar, 2 sugar free cookies
5pm: pasta with creme fraiche and parmesan, 2 sugar free cookies
8:30pm: raspberries, Sour Patch Kids, Skittles

OMG...I've got the worst ever heartburn from 3 wks of coffee for breakkie. I had one cup this a.m. and then switched to tea. Hope it'll help. TUMs does nothing for me but Zantac or anything else sways boy. I don't want anything like that in my system as we'll probably start DTD on Thurs or Fri.

Here's yesterday:

-Half-caf coffee w/ricemilk

-Grilled portabello & zucchini & air-popped popcorn

-Big romaine salad w/goat cheese and balsamic, rice cakes w/jam/cream cheese, TJ's seaweed (curses! If I get a boy, I'm blaming it on the seaweed!!!)

-Pep Tea and RRL Tea

My cals are still around 1200ish but the scale is tipping in my favor...I'm now down to 110 so I'm almost where I want to be. All my muscle is gone so although I'm skinny, I have no muscle definition. As long as T is low, I don't care what I look like!

Yay for 110 lbs, Jen! That's right about what I weighed when I conceived my angel baby. As of this morning I'm down to 116 lbs, which isn't great, but it means I lost 7lbs since my m/c 2 weeks ago, which seems pretty good, and it's also 12 lbs lighter than the weight I was when I conceived my 3 boys.

I'm trying to be really careful about what I eat right now because O could be (hopefully) coming anytime.....

Hey , girls! Out of the blue, I use that ranch dressing too, and those coco pops cakes from whole foods! I feel like I eat a lot more food than anyone else quantity wise, but my calories and fat are still really low. I hope I don't shoot myself in the foot. The problem is I can't skip breakfast. Glad you all are doing well! Way to go on the weight for you both!

Here's today:

7am: coffee
12pm: rice with yogurt and baby spinach, green grapes
5:30pm: rice pasta with sauteed leeks, mushrooms and zucchini + creme fraiche and parm (this was REALLY yummy - I was much happier eating this than the hot dogs dh and the kids were having)
8:30pm: (I haven't had my snack yet, but this is what I'm planning), green grapes, wine, Mike & Ikes

M.J. - Your dinner from yesterday sounds just wonderful! YUM! Your snack was probably yummy too!

Here's yesterday for me:

* 1 C. half-caf coffee w/rice milk, 1 C. black tea w/rice milk

* Air-popped popcorn w/parm cheese, coconut water

* Girl Sway Smoothie (froz rasp, rice milk, psyllium husks), seaweed () & coco pops (those corn cake things) w/jam/lite coolwhip/low fat cream cheese

* 2 C. Pep Tea, 1 C. RRL Tea

My heartburn is a lot better today...Hoping that by omitting the coffee, it'll solve my issues.

I forgot to mention I'm drinking lots of tea too - 2 cups per day of RRL and 1-2 cups of peppermint. That on top of a bunch of CL and diet Pepsi. It's really hard to fit all that drinking in to the day without timing it so it dilutes my early afternoon pee too much for the OPK! Sometimes I have two cups going at once trying to drink it all down!

I know! When I wake up, I try to drink 16 oz of water straight away. Then comes the coffee (which is now black tea) and then Pep/RRL tea before lunch and then again in the evening. That's why I haven't been drinking more coconut water. I really need to make it a priority b/c I'm not getting enough at all! I'm going to try to drink that at lunch time if I can remember. You're right...drinking so much can make it tricky when you're using OPKs...

What does the coconut water do? I've never heard of drinking it as part of a sway.

It's actually on the boy swayer's list b/c it's really high in Potassium but I've found that what I eat doesn't give me enough of it. We should be getting 3,500 mg of Potassium per day but I need some help...

Aren't those coco pops way better than rice cakes? Great for the girl sway!!! So if you shop at T.J.s, do NOT try the roasted seaweed snacks...They are soooo addictive! I can't believe I'm cheating on my sway with seaweed...of all the things I could indulge in, I choose seaweed, lol...

Also, do what you can about skipping breakfast but if you can't do it, it's okay. If skipping dinner or having an earlier dinner is easier, do that instead since it has the same effect. Even if none of those options work, it won't ruin your sway. Sounds like you're doing a great job keeping the other stuff low so just do what you can so you can stay on the sway. Keep it up, girl!!! :cheer:

I'm crapping my pants! My sister is coming with me to help look after DS3 but now DH has decided he's annoyed that he's not coming so is going to try and get a couple of hours off work so they'll both be there - no pressure on me then!!

I'm on the VA side of D.C. actually but we're close!!! I think a lot of swayers wait until the week before O to skip breakfast since it can be really tough if you're used to eating. I struggled with it during my first sway in the summer but drinking coffee w/rice milk really helped out a lot. This time around I found it easier to skip breakkie b/c after swaying last time, I was never hungry in the a.m. after I got preg and never went back to my usual big morning meals.

Wow, you don't eat much!

Amari, I usually eat much more on the diet but right now, I'm trying to do the "crash and burn" method in hopes that I'll only have to keep it up a while longer. I should be Oing in the next week or 2 and I've got my FX for a BFP but if I don't get it this time, I'll go back to eating more. This is by no means a long term thing, just wanted to give it an extra push and lose a few lbs before I O. Your diet looks GREAT, Amari!!!

I'm finding the pasta is sooo much better if I take the extra effort to add alll those veggies. It's sooo much more appealing to have a big, full pasta bowl instead of a half empty one (seriously - last night my bowl was overflowing, yet I was still waaay under for calories for the day), which is what I get if I eat one serving of pasta with no added veggies. It also really helps to fill me up.

I know! It gives the pasta so much more flavor too (I :awe: leeks!!! Portobellos are yummy too!) and there are hardly any cals! I loved my lunch yesterday but I'm out of veggies and will have to run to the store after I pick up my son from school if time will allow. May be a very late lunch or else will be dinner...???
