We just lost our sweet boy at 17 weeks. First miscarriage after 2 healthy boys. We were team green but at our 16 week appt we learned baby’s heart just stopped beating and they induced me a few days later and we learned our sweet angel is a boy. We’ve decided to try again in a few months but are hoping to add a girl to our family. Anyone know that can help where to start as we’ve never even slightly swayed and will obviously be a nervous wreck this next pregnancy. I’ve also read that most times after MC you tend to get opposite gender. As well as heard that most times after MC you conceive a boy. I don’t know that there is any truth to any of this but am hoping for some enlightenment and direction. Thank you!

I'm so very sorry for your loss. We've found that miscarriages tend to sway girl. For swaying pink, 12+ weeks LE diet (1500-1800 cals, 30-60g fat, 40-60g protein), 60 min cardio 4+ days a week, one attempt at pos OPK, coffee, alcohol, fiber, and Clomid/femara are getting best results. Check out the TTC a girl section for more info or Atomic's signature. Let us know how we can help!

I'm so sorry Boymom. Did they have any reason why it happened?
We have seen girls conceived after a loss but usually it's within a couple cycles. The longer you go between conceptions then the less it sways, most likely. (But please don't rush, TTC when you are ready!! because it's no guarantee even if you conceived right away.)
I have a guide to swaying after a miscarriage here: http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gender-swaying-general-discussion/29504-guide-swaying-after-miscarriage.html#post402053

No don't apologize, we want to help.
One attempt just means have one and only one unprotected round of intercourse. Most of us do that at positive OPK simply because it is easiest and a good chance of conception, but you can do it with a Shettles cut off if you'd like. Totally up to you.
We don't totally know for how long a loss may sway but it's likely only a couple cycles after.

Right away after a miscarriage and likely for a few months after especially with a late loss. One attempt at pos OPK means you have sex just once in your fertile window (when you get a positive ovulation test).

This is such great information. Thank you. This happened just a few days ago, so no reasons as of yet but my OB said they are doing everything hey can to figure it out and test results should be in 2-4 weeks. This only happened a few days ago so we are still grieving the loss of our son. Part of me wants to be pregnant so badly again but I know it would be smart of me to wait a couple months at least.

We are finding that we ~probably~ do not need to wait the suggested amount of time ~most~ of the time (occasionally people do have complicating factors and need to wait longer). Most of the doctor's guidelines about how long to wait are based on Freudian psychological assumptions about women's minds that have been completely fabricated and not good scientific data. Please follow your heart and do what you think is best.
