View Full Version : EWCM at 5dpo?!? Ovulation day wrong??

Why am I getting small bouts of EWCM today, at 5dpo???? Our one and only attempt was last Friday, the day of a positive OPK (although I dont think it was my first positive opk, as it was a barely positive....I cant really be certain, but I didnt opk test the day before)....and I had had lots EWCM for a couple of days, about 2 days before my positive OPK. Why am I getting it now? Should I assume I geared up to ovulate and didnt and try again? But then thats 2 attempts and no longer a one-attempt girl sway??
help please!!

It's called the secondary estrogen surge. About midway during the 2WW your body releases a burst of estrogen that can cause some ovulation-type symptoms like EWCM, increased libido, etc. This burst of estrogen helps maintain the lining a little longer so any potential pregnancy has a chance to implant.

That having been said you should still attempt just in case O was delayed. YOu are far enough out from your previous attempt that it would still be one attempt, there is no risk to trying since you most likely did O already anyway, and even if you didn't, it's still gonna be one attempt.

Thank you atomic! That totally makes sense. So theres no risk with DTD when an egg may be trying to implant, if I DID ovulate and everything went well? Im sorry if thats a silly question.
Id also love to know your opinion on what the strongest girl sway factor is?

No it's totally fine to have sex. No worries about that at all. If sex at that point of the cycle could prevent pregnancy the whole human race would have died out a long time ago because women often have a big boost in libido around then. :)

There is no single strongest thing. But here are the things I think are actually working.

Best sway - LE Diet plus fiber, coffee, folic acid or folate, alcohol
Cardio exercise 60 min a day 6-7 days a week
One attempt
Clomid or Femara if you can get them

For DH - smoking and jogging/biking
maybe OLE, vegan/vegetarian diet, and soy milk/foods

That's it. All the rest of it I believe to be ineffective.
