This is my second month attempting to read the ovulation test strips. From what I understand, the test line must be darker or as dark as the control line. From my testing I saw that CD 12 was close and I assumed CD 13 (today) would get darker and today would be the day. Now I wonder if ovulated earlier or not at all. Does anyone have advise for reading these test strips correctly? The last test is from today, just not labeled.

I'd definitely have an attempt. the rate at which your tests go negative don't tell you that youve ovulated. You'll O 24-36 hours after the first positive which I agree may have been CD 12. Attempt tonight!

Is it possible to see another surge and darker lines in the next couple days? Thanks for your quick response, I was feeling a little bummed that I might be out this month already.

It is possible you geared up for O but it didn't happen for whatever reason. Usually if that happens, the body will try again in a few days. I think you did ovulate, it was just a shorter surge. Sometimes certain brands of OPKs will never get really dark I've found. The test line will be almost as dark as the control line but no more. What may have happened (and this has happened to me) is you had a really short surge and you either missed it by a hair with your test on CD12 or took the test just before the surge so it's not quite so dark. As Atomic said, if you haven't had your one attempt already then go ahead and have it.

Thanks we had an attempt last night on CD 13. I appreciate having a place I can ask these questions, and how quickly responses have been.

yes, it's possible, and I'd keep testing or go to every 4 days method after this to cover you either way.
