I am so so sorry for posting my scan again. I must be the most annoying person on this forum. I just really need feedback and reassurance from you guys as I don't have anyone else to talk to. Ever since my doctor told me she thinks it's a boy, I have been over the moon extatic. But then I started reading online about how 14 weeks is too early to guess gender, and that a boy can still turn out to be a girl. And now I am having sleepless nights over this. Of course I would be happy with another girl, but everyone is praying and hoping for a boy this time. So do you think this protrusion can disappear and the baby can turn out to be a girl?
Gosh I feel like a crazy-lady, but I hope you understand how much I just want an answer. But please be honest.38575

Really?? So it should be pretty clear at 14 weeks? And it can not turn from that to girl parts? And it can’t be the umbilical cord right? Gosh I’m so sorry for being annoying.

The reason why 14 weeks is too early to guess gender is that rarely sometimes babies that look like girls will still end up being boys. This is because all babies start off looking like girls, and then in the 10th week of gestation, the Y chromosome, which was dormant up till that point, "wakes up" and starts making testosterone. This testosterone makes the genitals, which up till then had looked girly, start to grow and move around (the "ovaries" move down and become testicles and stuff like that) and all this takes 2-3 weeks to complete the process. Along the way, babies that are visibly, obviously turning into boys are visibly, obviously boys (like yours!) but there are still a few who are boys but the process just hasn't been completed yet so there can still be boys that look girly at this point. Boys who look like boys are almost always boys, it's boys that still look like girls who may not be (and that is very, very rarely into the 14th week! Only seen 2 at the end of the 13th week that looked girly but ended up being boys)
Additionally there are sometimes pictures that aren't clear, techs that don't know what they're doing, etc and so it is this group of people who may be told boy but it was cord or leg or baby's hand. But your pic is clear and looks all boy to me.

I am so happy and relieved right now. Feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Everything is so much clearer to me now (thank you Atomic for making me understand the process). You ladies are amazing, truly!
