View Full Version : How long does Clomid stay in the body?

Hi!

I just wondered how long Clomid (and its effects) last in the body as I’ve read conflicting things.

Will Clomid have an impact in the following cycle (i.e. the cycle after you’ve taken it) as I’ve read that it leaves the body within a few days?

Thanks.

I think it can linger for a month or two in your system.

I know it doesn't really make sense biologically but Clomid really does seem to both sway pink and boost odds of conception for another month after it's dropped. We know so little about how any of this works that this is sheer observation here - lots of gals who had took it for 3-6 months, stopped it, and then got pregnant the very next month with a girl.

I read that it has a really long half life so it stays in the system for at least a month. I heard of women who don't ovulate on their own taking it and not getting pregnant so stopping it, but having it make them ovulate for the month after they stopped.

From my personal experience, Clomid made me ovulate the month I took it (50 mg), but I didn't get pregnant, and the next month I did not take more Clomid and did not ovulate. So I probably still had some Clomid in my system, but not enough to ovulate.

Right but it's confusing scientifically about how it could still work given the mechanisms it works by (first blocking and then triggering a big surge of estrogen). If a person doesn't take it, it can't block estrogen and therefore shouldn't be able to trigger an estrogen surge...but it does still seem to help people get pregnant! One of those things someone really should be investigating! So it's actually not surprising you didn't ovulate the month after stopping the Clomid, it's surprising how many people do! :)

I took it for 6 consecutive months then stopped and fell pregnant the following month. Was doing alot of boy friendly tips too. I had a girl
