View Full Version : Add pink sway tactics with Clomid, or no?

I'm slightly confused about whether or not to use other pink sway tactics with Clomid. I read in some areas that Clomid has such good results that it basically eliminates the need for much else (plus you want to get PG as fast as possible.) But then I read about people claiming that Clomid sways blue (or got them boys), and the argument is "well, you weren't swaying pink while you were on Clomid, that's why you got boys."

My thinking is to do the things I've learned to sway pink (LE diet, one attempt, exercise) for at least 12 weeks. (I also am on Spironolactone which I hope will help). What I'm wondering is if I do get Clomid, should I continue with my "pink sway" or drop them/lighten up while on Clomid?

What I understand is that while on Clomid you should only drop sway tactics that hinder conception. Diet and exercise would be great as long as they are not extreme, because losing a few pounds even if you are at a healthy BMI and especially if you are over weight actually helps conception. Exercise also is good for conception unless you are running marathons or something extreme.

In addition to Clomid I am doing a vegetarian diet, losing weight (just a few pounds left from my pregnancy gain), and I would skip breakfast but since I can't I'm just eating low sugar and low carb for breakfast.

I would exercise but it is so hard now that it is winter. I got pregnant last time in fall and was running a lot more.

When I conceived my girl I was on Clomid, did one attempt, and left the semen in a condom for 15 minutes before inserting it with a syringe. Atomic doesn't recommend the condom because it lowers chances of conception, but I told DH that and he said he wants to do exactly what we did before because it worked. So I'm stuck doing the condom thing.

Good luck!

Condom idea is interesting girls.
Can you tell me everything you did with it? Like was it at pos opk, had Dh abstained, how did you insert it- lying down etc? And when you say syringe what do you mean? I keep envisioning a needle eek!!
I don't think my hubby would do it but I'm intrigued! I can definitely see how it would reduce sperm count and I'm impressed you got pregnant mrs English while on clomid and using a syringe!

It wasn't actually the plan to insert the semen plain, we were going to add lemon juice, but I chickened out last minute so I inserted regular semen that had sat in a condom (non spermicidal!) for about 15 minutes.

Men on average ejaculate 2 -5 ml semen, so you want to use either a 5ml or 10ml needle-less syringe (buy at any pharmacy for about 10 cents). The advantage of a 10 ml syringe is that it's longer so deeper release, but if your DH only ejaculates 2 - 3 ml, you might go for the 5 ml syringe because it will suck it up better.

I had used OPKs for 5 months and found out they corresponded exactly with my ewcm, and the OPKs were a PITA because I had to hold my pee for 3- 4 hours, then test between 10am - 2pm which was when I was at work, so it was just a PITA so I stopped using them and just went by ewcm.

I inserted it laying on my back in bed with my head propped up with pillows. Even though the syringe is small, I had to put a little lube on it because it was dry. I tried to put on as little lube as possible because lube is slightly bad for conception.

This happened over a year ago and it was my 12th month trying to get pregnant, so I can't remember how long I kept it in. I never tried "jump and dump" on purpose, but there were some attempts where I'd get up after 5 minutes to pee, some attempts I'd get up after half an hour and go on with my day, and some attempts where I'd go to sleep right after, and I can't remember what happened that night, but I would have at least kept it in for 5 minutes.

THIS is REALLY going to be TMI, but when DH and I first started TTC we'd do doggy style because it was our favorite position, and I had read online that it was good for conception. BUT it would seem like all of the semen would instantly fall out of me as soon as it got it. When we'd do missionary, I could keep the semen in for as long as I wanted until I got out of bed, but with doggy style it would all just fall out immediately. Now I know that people must be getting pregnant from doggy style because otherwise there would be no need for condoms or BC, but it is hard for me to imagine how. With the condom and the syringe, I was able to get about 95% of the semen volume into the syringe, so I was getting at least 90% of the semen into myself, so I don't feel like it would have reduced sperm count that much, but I did read that even regular latex condoms slightly harm sperm. So I feel like conception would be more likely inserting sperm while on my back, than regular sex doggy style, but that's just how I feel.

I know that when men bring in semen samples for sperm analysis, they are told to have it there up to an hour of ejaculation, so that must mean that sperm can survive for at least an hour in a cup/condom.

With us, it's DH who doesn't want a son. I would like a son, but would like a daughter more. DH wants to keep doing the condom/syringe thing because it worked for us the first time. I'm just happy that I was able to talk him out of doing IVF for gender selection.

Anyone who says Clomid sways blue has not read the many scientific studies that clearly show it sways pink 3-5% across the population of everyone using it. In our results, which we have now been tabulating over 7 years, we get 75% with Clomid + a pink sway.

The reason why Clomid may appear to sway blue to some people is because the people who take Clomid are a)mostly PCOSers who are coming in to TTC more set for blue anyway and b) are usually doing everything in their power to get and stay pregnant (all of which sway blue)

If you are asking me "should I continue diet, exercise, and number of attempts while on Clomid" the answer is an emphatic YES!! We will add attempts pretty quickly but it's fine to start off doing one and just see what happens.

If you are asking "should I add in 9 million other things that are much less effective and cut odds of conception while on Clomid" the answer is no, not really, if you must you can try one month using all that stuff but then ditch it.

Spiro is fine but be sure you've talked to your doc about coming off it for TTC.

You can use a syringe without a needle in it. It's basically turkey baster method http://genderdreaming.com/forum/gender-swaying-general-discussion/2598-how-do-tbm-why-you-probably-shouldnt-do-gender-swaying.html

I do not recommend it since we are having enough trouble as it is with people getting pregnant. It makes it just that much tougher.
