If sperm can't survive below 7 why do we douche after dtd to get it under 5?

To kill off some sperm to lower sperm count. Most which can fertilise the egg are in the cervix within 5-15 mins after bd anyway

Ah yes, lowering sperm count. Makes sense. I am doing o+12 with a dc so I will lower the sample with lime but maybe just to a 5.5-6 and then see what our combined ph is. I think lowering the splime under 5 kills off too many too fast.

Along these lines - how quickly do you check combined pH? Do you check just at the entrance? How often after?

I have mostly read that you just check at the entrance so as not to disturb the sperm and that you check every half hour for 4 hours.

The theory is that X sperm "love" super low pH and Y sperm "love" super high pH.
Obviously, since all sperm prefer and thrive in a pH in the 7's this notion does not make a super huge amount of sense to me, either.
To explain my thinking on the idea, since people are douching and acijelling themselves and are seeming to conceive girls doing so, and also because low female pH and low semen pH can be signs of infertility and couples who struggle with fertility tend to conceive more girls, we can't discount the idea that pH does sway in some way. Since we also know that everything that lowers a guy's sperm count also sways pink even though he still continues to shoot 50-50 X and Y, logic then seems to dictate that maybe beyond sperm count itself, that lowering sperm numbers overall also sways pink, even if equal numbers of X and Y sperm are killed by this low pH.

If you're doing a Diva though, you might want to err on the side of lower pH to kill off more sperm, because you'll be keeping pretty much all the semen and sperm near the cervix which will keep sperm numbers higher than if you had done, say, a jump and dump.

:agree: that the best way to check combined pH is at the entrance to the VJJ.
Re testing pH every 30 minutes for at least 4 hours...that is the IG way of doing things and that is fine. It's worked for some people. I personally prefer that people try and chillax after DTD rather than obsessing constantly over what their pH is on a minute by minute basis. Firstly because if you use Rephresh you know it will keep lowering the pH of everything it touches to 4.5-5 for three days after you use it (can't use that with lime douche tho, because we haven't tested them together yet and the combo might make pH spike). Secondly because the sperm are already long gone from the vagina 5-15 minutes after DTD. In fact, with O+12, the sperm don't even wait around in the cervical crypts, they head up into the uterus and Fallopian tubes looking for the egg and are shortly out of reach of anything you do inside the vjj for pH (despite what IG says, it is highly unlikely that anything you stick into your vagina is affecting the pH at your egg). And thirdly because it has the potential to raise your testosterone through the roof with all the practicing and monitoring pH you need to do.

If you want sperm numbers low would it be good to get DH to pull out before he finishes completely ?

A jump and dump kind of achieves the same thing - and is less pressure on the man, quite a tricky thing to do in the heat of the moment!!

I had aways heard that sperm can survive as low as a pH of 4....

Only because they are surrounded by much higher pH semen and CM. Even if hte overall pH is 4, there are little pockets of higher pH that are protecting the sperm until they can make it into the cervical crypts (where EWCM will protect them.) They can withstand lower pH for a little while, but in time it will kill them (and kills the weakest ones right away anyway.)

Some people have tried it, but it makes it very hard to conceive.
