I had them allll through my first pregnancy with DD! I was really active and bad about hydration -- how are you doing on those? I also have an irritable uterus I think and am just sensitive to everything (I get Braxton Hicks after orgasm pretty much immediately after I'm pregnant).
I have a scan at what should be 9w1d this Friday. I am so, so nervous. Even more moms in my loss groups have had bad news follow ups even after seeing a HB at earlier scans :( DH says he might not be able to get off work to come like he planned and I'm so scared to go alone. I've started getting more nausea, but it's still sooo mild. Nipples are tingling/stinging too but not really all over breast tenderness. I'm just so scared of any symptom change at this point meaning something is going wrong...

Just a late update, me and OH ended up having a dinner date for our wedding anniversary straight after the scan! All was fine and she’s ALL GIRL :)
TP I completely understand the nerves you’re feeling, I have such a good feeling for you though :)
I’m good with keeping hydrated regarding the BH but don’t sit down much that probably explains it!

And so happy you had a good, girly scan ;) We must have close anniversaries since ours was last Friday!!

know what you're feeling 100%.
I don't know if this uneasy feeling ever really goes away TBH.
At first I thought when I get to see heartbeat I'll feel good.. then I thought if I make it to second trimester I would be more assured... But I wasn't. Then I thought after anatomy scan i'd be more confident... But I still check her heartbeat daily. It's not easy. Just try and remain positive. Easier said then done I know. [emoji170]

Tp, I understand too. The anxiety is horrible, I wish I could just enjoy pregnancy but I also check the heartbeat daily. I think I'm starting to feel some movement and in all scans she has been a real mover and shaker so I'm hoping that continues and she will reassure me with lots of kicks!
Glad to see all the scans are going well. I got my apt for my 20 week scan on June 13th so will be nervously looking forward to that.

Thank you all! And I had the weirdest dream last night that I was pregnant with a girl and we had two different surrogates pregnant with boys. STRANGE! I also spewed all we've gone through to my mom in my dream (my mom doesn't know we've had more than 2 losses; most of our families don't). My anxiety is spilling over into my sleep!!

Also, have any of you had really dry, itchy hands early?! I started freaking myself out about that with cholestastis but that's in the third trimester, right?! I'm practically taking the skin off my left hand it's so itchy, and it is VERY humid outside. I'm mositurizing often, too! I think I'm seriously giving myself a panic attack because I'm so damn nervous about that scan tomorrow. I keep just picturing the worst possible scenarios. Now I'm literally thinking, "Oh watch my liver enzymes be somehow messed up and cause me lose the baby!" Wtf!! Someone needs to sedate me for the next 30 weeks!

Gah TP I cant wait for this scan to be over and done with for you!!
Speaking of itchy hands I didn't know it was a 'thing that's common in the 3rd trimester as I had terrible itches in my hands [emoji33] and yes broke the skin on more than one occassion! I tried to tell myself it meant I was in for a windfall as per old WHT's [emoji23][emoji23] obviously never happened hahaha!!

Supposedly it's not common and can be a sign of the cholestasis, which has all of these awful things with it! But you didn't have it then right? So that's good! But haha, I also aways try not to scratch my palms since I was always told scratching itchy palms took the money coming to you away!! hahaha, these damn wives tales!
And I also can't wait for the scan to be done -- I'm so sorry, I must be driving you all batty! I wish I had insisted on weekly scans this early -- it's the particular 7-8 week period that had me so stressed from previous losses!

May 31st, 2018, 09:17 AM
TP my left hand has also been really itchy off and on the past few days - however it's the back of my hand, not the palm. I think it's just dry though - it looks really dry (I keep using lotion) and I wash my hands A LOT. Yesterday I was scratching and it looked like hives were starting to form - which I have occasionally get on my hands for whatever reason. Or I'm thinking it could be stress.
I hadn't heard of cholestasis but I googled it quickly and it did say it's a late pregnancy thing. So probably not what's causing your itching!

Thank you all. We stayed in hospital all night waiting to get some sort of answers.
My cervix is fully closed and I am not in Labour...
I had an ultrasound done and the fluid in the amniotic sac is normal!? So now I am being retested to make sure it was actually my membranes that broke. It could be a misdiagnosis or that she is producing enough fluids on her own to keep going.
As far as viability.. she has to make it to 24 weeks. I have basically two options.
Strict bed rest with weekly fluid level check ultrasounds and pray that I don't go into labour before the earliest 24 weeks and know that she is still facing mental and physical challenges being born so early
Or
Be induced knowing we will lose her.
I don't even have words at this point. Its all so overwhelming.

I so understand how overwhelming and stressful all of this is -- but this is so much more positive than the alternatives! Bed rest is awful, but I'm hoping that's all you have to do ♡
And I know no one wants to consider a premature baby, but I have a cousin who was born at 25 weeks with literally no issues physical or mental (just had to wear glasses earlier than other kids). But I'm hoping you make it al the way and this was just an awful false alarm.

They now think it's placental abruption. I have mild bleeding when i walk for longer periods but it seemed to have tapered off. I am at home Now and told to wait until tues to check the fluid levels again to be sure it's not amniotic fluid. I feel like I am not getting any answers and I am confused why an ultrasound can't determine how much placental abruption is occurring. It's beyond frustrating right now.
But either situation is a waiting game really. No cure. Just praying to make it to 24 weeks or more.

Mamabird I agree it's terrible (and actually quite unbelievable) that they cant give you a more thorough answer. Wow what a rollercoaster you are on atm. Wish we could all be there for you and take it in turns to cook, clean and support you so you could do nothing but be kept preoccupied until Tuesday. How do you even wait for something like this??? Please take it as easy as you can and think as positively as you can. Try not let what *might* happen overwhelm you as hardnasnthat will be [emoji17] You and dd need each other more than ever right now to hold on to hope [emoji173] Sending only the most positive and hopeful vibes your way [emoji173]

Mamabird im so glad to see a more positive update on your situation  i have followed your journey since your lost your DD as we lost our girls at very similar gestation's and i was so happy to see you pregnant again with your rainbow girl. I know things are far from perfect right now but when compared to yesterday this is huge :) how many weeks are you?
im shocked they cant give you more answers? if it is a small placental abruption is that something that can heal by itself? i have everything crossed for your fluid check to show that its not amniotic fluid so you can rule that out and go from there.. come on baby girl  things are tough but you can be tougher!! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
re. positive preemie baby story's.. my cousin had her baby at 32 weeks and my friend had her baby at 27 weeks, both boys (who statistically do worse than girls when born early) the boys are now aged 6 and 5 and you would never know with either of them!! they arent even small for their ages, i have another friend who delivered just before xmas, an emergency c-section at 29 weeks due to mum having sepsis, it was life and death for both but.. mum is fine and baby boy is now home and doing great.

June 4th, 2018, 11:08 AM
Mamabird- been thinking about you!!!
Since this is my field of work, I'm going to be real with you. Placental abruptions are not ideal and usually don't end well whether you are at viability or not. But if your doc thought things were over, the doc would have you induced. It's not over until baby girl doesnt have a heartbeat or she's out of you.
Here in parts of the US, we attempt to save 22 and 23 weekers, but I've only seen a handful of GOOD outcomes from those. So 24+ is ideal.
I'm feeling for you. But hold on tight, give her some pep talks.
When baby girl comes, I'll be here for any nurse advice you need!

So I finally got my answer. After an extensive ultrasound they found out I have a 6.7cm subchorinic hemorage behind placenta. They checked blood flow to baby through umbilical cord and all is normal. Fluid levels are normal. Baby looks perfect. My Dr said he sees this frequently but usually earlier on and many pregnancies go full term normal. He doesn't even want me on bed rest at this point. I am still very scared and not sure if I will be able to.just resume activities... But this is best case scenario he said. Very good news. Praying he's right!

Just had a private gender scan and I’m having a boy! I’m 16+5 today so I think unlikely for it to be incorrect?
I’m so surprised. I did really want a girl, a sister for my daughter but I am lucky he is healthy and everything looks good. I am also lucky because I do already have a girl but it’s going to be a massive mind change as I really thought I was having another girl! Plus I will have to sell all the beautiful girl clothes I have left over from my daughter and buy new boys stuff! Such a shock. I went on my own and I’m going to tell my husband as a surprise on Father’s Day (on Sunday) he will be so shocked and delighted as well though as he secretly wanted a boy I think! Any tips from people who have a girl and a boy? Are they sweet together?

I am also lucky because I do already have a girl but it’s going to be a massive mind change as I really thought I was having another girl! Plus I will have to sell all the beautiful girl clothes I have left over from my daughter and buy new boys stuff! Such a shock. I went on my own and I’m going to tell my husband as a surprise on Father’s Day (on Sunday) he will be so shocked and delighted as well though as he secretly wanted a boy I think! Any tips from people who have a girl and a boy? Are they sweet together? That's awesome congrats!
What's the age gap between them? My daughter is obsessed with her "boys" as she calls them. They are amazing with her. My boys are 5 and 7 years older than my daughter though so it's different then closer age gaps. My boys were close with one another before my daughter.
You're going to love having a son. It's something I wouldn't trade for the world. I love my boys. [emoji170]

I am so, so jealous, but also understand any disappointment you might have! Girls and boys can be just as good together -- my mom and uncle were the gap your two will be and are STILL super close! My uncle is more a dad to me than my own father! Plus it's why I also hope I can give DD a baby brother -- she loves baby boys!

Thank you mama. My daughter is 3 and is so so girly. Her bedroom is very girly too and they will be sharing for a bit 🙈 I am a really girly girl too so I think I will take some time to adjust. However I adore my girl and I wonder if I had another one I would somehow always compare them. At least I can’t do that now as completely different! Plus my dd is quite hard work and challenging so a nice laid back boy might be just what’s needed 😂 I guess I had always imagined I would have 2 girls and my pregnant is pretty much the same (maybe slightly sicker this time and much more tired though) the Heart rate is always 155-160 I ovulated from the left, I swayed (although maybe not as hard as I should have) it’s strange but obviously this boy is what’s to be for our family and I am sure I will love him just the same as my daughter!

Thank you TWP. I’m sorry I know I am so lucky and I shouldn’t be a little bit disappointed as i am very lucky and baby looked ok on scan and obviously that’s the main thing! I guess I just thought I would have two girls. I’m sure I will get my head around it and start thinking of boys names (I didn’t have any I liked!) also I have a sister and I am super close so I guess I’m a bit sad for my DD as she won’t have that but you are right, she may still be just as close to her brother!

He does want a boy of his own of course.

It does all make sense now. I will have one of each- in the small children, as my other two are much older. My brother has one of each and they're incredibly close.
Congratulations vnmora!

Mamabird just want to check in with you and see how everything is? How much longer until we can all relax lol? I swear we'll all be holding our breathe until baby girl is in your arms... been meaning to ask, do you have any names picked out? Totally understand if you don't, or if you do and don't wish to share in case you think it's bad luck. I had a girl name picked out from the age of 14 when I read a particular trilogy (cant wait for my daughter to be able to read said trilogly that is sitting waiting in my bookcase [emoji12]) so I pretty much had known her name for 20+ years before she arrived [emoji23] Still cannot believe I got to use my name and even moreso that I have her [emoji173][emoji173] so in love and so much more in love with my beautiful boys seeing them with her, although I can honestly say I would've loved them just as much with another brother too [emoji173] they were just so excited for a new baby it melts my heart [emoji7]

I am almost 22 weeks.
I have had multiple ultrasounds now and the last one showed my sch grew from 6cmx1.5cm to 7.1x2.5 in 3 weeks. I am still spotting daily and am trying to do mostly bed rest. My Dr still isn't concerned and isn't giving me the things I request. I've done a lot of research on subchorinic hemorage and placental abruption in the past few weeks and read that progesterone in oil can help PPROM. This is a huge concern for me bc of the separation. The other concern is if the tear in placenta caused a tear in uterus causing water to be susceptible to infection. I have antibiotics but my Dr doesn't want me taking them as a precaution. I also asked for steroid shots st 23 weeks for her lungs but was told they don't like to give them out.
Long story short... I wait. I literally sit here not knowing if I'll lose her again at any given moment and my Dr (who is great and all) won't refer me to the high risk team until I hit viability. Nor will he let me take precautions to prevent this. Even if it doesn't help.. it would make me feel better. Like I am doing something.
But he is giving me freq ultrasounds that tell me baby is thriving. She's almost a pound now.
The Dr told me it's in God's hands now and that I should pray. Obviously I pray a lot. But after you lose a child.. and you prayed for her too... you start to not JUST trust in that.
Any way...
As far as names I have a few on the list but I just can't even bring myself to select one. I haven't even started her nursery. All I want to do is celebrate her life and get excited that she will be coming home with us... But i can't.

Mamabird I'm so sorry your doctor is not giving you what you want. Is there any way to self refer to high risk?
I also can't understand why they won't give you steriods at 23 weeks? I thought after losing a baby most medical staff will give you what you want within reason. That's been my experience anyway.
I think of you and baby girl often and hope everything settles down and gives your little girl as much time as possible to grow stronger.

Mama are you taking any DHA or fish oil?? If so we may need to wean off those. I know sometimes they have you guys on very high doses for IVF rounds and SCH has been an issue for others as well. If you are taking them, DON"T just stop them, we have to wean off slowly.
Also I would have you stay away from nuts, particularly walnuts, and garlic, particularly fresh garlic, for now.
I can make a schedule for weaning back off the blood thinners if you want me to

I am taking a small amount of fish oils/dha. Just 300 mg daily. And I only take it every other day. I am confused though bc I though that the sch means I have clotting and wouldn't blood thinners help that?

The reason why there is a clot there is because you had bleeding around your placenta, and a clot formed. The clot was caused by bleeding and bleeding can be caused by blood thiinners (or worsened by them) That's why we would not have you stop the blood thinners totally, but just dial it back a little - to both prevent further bleeding but at the same time not cause your blood to become TOO clotty, since that can cause other issues.
My concern is that the clot grew some. That indicates to me that there may still be some bleeding going on. We want no more bleeding, and healing to happen (but just to reassure you, I have seen WAY bigger SCH rectify themselves) Some of us are more susceptible to blood thinners than others (I personally am SUPER susceptible to them even at every other day intake.)
What I would do is stretch out the time between doses just a teensy bit more. So if you were taking them in the morning every other day, start going to morning one day, then night the next (so extending by 12 hours' time) and wait and see. If at your next scan the SCH has continued to grow, we may want to stretch it another 12 hours. But I think it's best since you're already spacing out the dose a good bit and it's not a high dose to start with, to not cut back ~much~ more than you are and since you're having regular scans anyway we'll be able to see how things are progressing.
Just want to stress again, DO NOT stop taking them suddenly - we want to space things out a bit, not stop cold turkey. Even if your doctor says differently, please listen to me on this one - there are like 3 things I know more than doctors on and blood thinners/SCH issues are one of them. :)

Hoping for the same outcome! Although after going back and reading her posts it appears her sch did not affect her placenta. So kinda different situation. Mines a lot more high risk for myself and baby.
My next scan is in 2.5 weeks when I hit viability.

I have been quiet for a while since we found out that we are expecting our third DS in december. Verena, I will join you: after swaying hard for 9 months, we are expecting our DS3 in November! It was very obvious at our 20 week scan last week and I have good and bad days. Cried a lot this morning when I told my mum. She was very comforting and did not judge me which made me cry even more. I am also with you that I feel that everybody is getting their DG at the moment. Don‘t get me wrong:I am very happy for everyone getting their DG but it is just hard to accept that I will most likely never have a daughter (I am 39 an will turn 40 this year). Bis hug to you! What helps you to cope with your disappointment?Palaenopsis I'm sorry you belong to the unlucky 20-30% as well. Big hugs to you too. It was very hard work to persuade DH to have a third and all the months or even years he said no, I didn't even think about gender, I just wanted another baby. I think this is helping me a bit now too. And I already had very bad GD with DS2 and after he was born I realized that every child is so different and gender is just one facette of thousands of a child. That makes it easier for me this time as well because I'm sooo curious to discover how this little man will be.
But what helps me most is that I'm fooling myself a bit by thinking there is a chance for a fourth although realistically DH would get divorced immediately if he even knew I'm thinking about a fourth ;-) I even made the plan to start LE diet again once baby is fully weaned. This somehow takes away the finality of never having a daughter. Maybe this could help you a little bit as well? I think it's not at all impossible to conceive at 40 or 41. There are so many examples for this on this board...
GD really sucks and I hope we will both be able soon to enjoy our pregnancies completely!

Hoping to only gain 25 pounds. I usually gain around 40 but since I'll probably be delivering in September I doubt I'll get that far. We are shooting for 34-36 week delivery.

I might be a bit unusual (what else is new, right?!), but I've had a dodgy mole removed on average once a year for practically my whole life haha. Only once was anything ever "other than benign" -- and then with further biopsy, it was still considered benign! I know it can be scary since the first thought we always have is, "Omg cancer," but it's very common for moles to change during pregnancy as well without it being a sign of cancer. And I think having a doctor who at least is proactive is really good too.
Don't worry! And the procedure to remove moles is often very quick and only mildly painful if at all!

While my LE diet was totally unintentional, I did gain rather quickly and a "lot" during my pregnancy with DD. BUT, I didn't look big the whole time -- I think it was actually all blood since my fundal measurements were always normal bordering on behind. So it's possible your body is just trying to gain up those nutrients to get the blood and baby growing all well (and it not necessarily being baby will be big, or that you will be big!). I was actually not super hungry my whole pregnancy with her and still had all that gain, so I'm convinced it was less a food thing and more a "how the body is trying to support the baby" thing. This pregnancy I HAVE been hungry a lot more often, even after weaning off the prednisone, but have gained about the same amount and even a little less than I did with DD at this point, so I'm convinced what we eat or don't eat only has so much impact when it comes to pregnancy!

TP you’ve made me feel SO much better can’t thank you enough, I’ve literally been giving myself panic attacks over this! If I could hug you right now I would!!
How are you and baby doing?!
Haha aww, I'm so happy to hear! I'm glad I could help and really hope all goes well for you!
NIPT came back all normal for baby and we chose not to find gender, which I never thought I'd be one to do haha...
Otherwise still don't ever feel pregnant! Symptoms I'm having now are hip pain and heartburn and I'm only 15 weeks! I think I make a lot of relaxin and my body just falls apart when pregnant lol

I was on the LE diet for 2 years. Stopped before my ivf cycle only. I've only gained 10 pounds so far. I am 23 weeks. I've only just started to get super hungry. Maybe growth spurt!
Hoping to only gain 25 pounds. I usually gain around 40 but since I'll probably be delivering in September I doubt I'll get that far. We are shooting for 34-36 week delivery.

Mama bird - so sorry to hear about your SCH. I also have a small SCH and evidence of bleeding in the amniotic sac (blood floating in the sac) but I have not had any bleeding yet, and I am 19 weeks. In England where I live we dont get many scans, most dont have private health insurance and even if they do it doesnt cover scans, so i dont have a doctor i can go back to to speak to andask questions. the dr came across the SCH when i was having an anomaly scan (other issues suspected with babies heart which no have been put to rest - phew!) . When I asked the dr if I can do anything, she said "no. There is a risk of miscarriage but nothing you can do. You will know if you start bleeding" (obvoiusly - painful conversation!).
That was 1.5 weeks ago. I haven't had any bleeding yet. I haven't been told to go on bed rest - have you done it anyway? It is difficult as I commute a long way on public transport with massive bags (laptop, folders etc). But if pelvic rest will help I will of course do that.
I did read that lots of greens and healthy food helps to "heal from the inside" Whether true I dont know. Issue is my nausea is so bad the idea of greens is impossible at the moment :(
please keep us posted on your journey - fingers crossed all will be good.xxxxx i read if you get beyond 20 weeks and it hasnt caused miscarriage its a really good sign

Yes I read that too. I've upped my water intake significantly as well and am.doing modified bed rest.
I am happy to report that my sch healed a little since my last scan. It's still there but healing.
I am 24 weeks!!! I am now viable. It's a huge deal for someone in my situation. I go for monthly ultrasounds to make sure all is ok.
Baby girl is already 1 pound 8 oz and is in the 65 percentile for growth. She's bigger than most at this size. Always a very active baby which I am told during scans. [emoji23] We will be doing a csection early October if I make it that far.

Your bump is SO beautiful! And you're all just belly! Just shows how little how we carry means, because I think my bump with DD looked similar to yours (even at 39 weeks, people didn't know I was pregnant from behind) and kept thinking I was having a boy haha!

Had my 28 week appointment and I’m measuring 27 weeks which would make sense if they followed my chart and not the scan dating!
Also been referred to a consultant because my son was big, hoping that doesn’t mean induction because I want natural! I got my son out so surely I can do it again lol!

Mama you look beautiful! We decided her name two years ago!
GirlswayLondon- my 2nd was 10 lb 2! So they give me an extra growth scan and a diabetic test. They said my last baby was 10lbs at 36 weeks, wrong! He was 8'6 at full term! They weren't prepared to induce because of it to my surprise so don't worry. This baby is feeling big but I think it's just me. It's like my body hears the word 'baby' and explodes like a puffa fish! My feet are a size bigger- wtf!

I have another ultrasound on Thursday and I am excited to see how big baby girl is getting. Judging on how huge I feel I know she's over 2 pounds!

Oh my gosh mama, 10 weeks will fly by!
Are you all preparing? I haven't got room for a girls nursery with all these boys unfortunately. She will be in our room for a while and I'm having a cot attached to our bed for a bit. I have so much to sort out around the house but I'm too tired and busy to do it. Plus this heatwave has set me back a bit.

But she will also probably sleep with us for a bit too. I am thinking of getting a dock a tot for cosleeping this time around.
I have not packed a hospital bag yet but plan to at 30 weeks just bc of my past with this pregnancy. I need to be prepared if I go early. I still feel like I have a million things to do around the house though!
Praying August flies by... I cannot wait for Sept/oct and fall!

Is that like a cot that attaches to your bed? Or a thing that goes in your bed? I want to come sleep too because I'm terrible without sleep and have a toddler! I didn't sleep very well with him in the bed because I was frightened of squashing him. Planning on getting an ikea cot, leaving one side off and attaching it to the bed.
I have so much to do too, it's overwhelming really but I'm sure it will get done once the weather cools down.

I googled it, it's called a sleepyhead here. I have already put it on my list! One of my friends co-slept with one of those for 9 months. I want to co sleep too because I'm terrible without sleep and have a toddler! I didn't sleep very well with him in the bed because I was frightened of squashing him. Planning on getting an ikea cot, leaving one side off and attaching it to the bed. She will probably still benefit from the sleepyhead thing because the cot will be big.

Hey mama bird, she sounds fab! Praying you carry on doing well.
Girl sway London, I would expect at least one extra scan and maybe the diabetic test. It's usually around 28 weeks, you have to eat and drink nothing except water from the night before. You get a blood test and then a sugary drink and have to wait a couple of hours for another blood test.
Georgia_Peach

Thank you ladies. It's funny that you feel huge although I'm the one gaining weight like crazy. 20 pounds now and I'm only 22 weeks. Ugggh. I think my body stores everything after being on LE diet for so long. But most of you have been too so I'm really wondering how you manage to gain so little weight.
Mamabird maybe we could open a new thread (I think we are way above the 50 pages that atomic likes us to restrict threads to) and start with all the dates? I swayed pink, am expecting blue and due date is 9th of December :-)
