Hi everyone

I've had a retained placenta with my last 2 pregnancies and was wondering if anyone has heard of any ways to prevent it from happening again?
I know it's a long shot but last time I didn't even get any anaesthetic when it was pulled out. Really don't want to have to go through that again!

Thanks x

Have you tried red raspberry leaf tea?

Oh and and my hospital they had some woman come in and quickly massage my uterus LOL - sounded crazy but it worked!

Oh my goodness I drink raspberry leaf tea in every pregnancy until I could vomit at the sheer sight of it lol
It's actually preventing me from giving birth at my chosen hospital (its a midwifery led unit) even though I didn't even get taken to theatre last time

Yes I figured it was very unlikely you hadn't heard of that by now!!

So what, they won't let you give birth there unless you drink the tea?? Or the risk of the retained placenta?? I'm so sorry to hear that. :(

Yeah, as there are longer any consultants there I have to go to the same hospital as last time. It was the worst experience of all my births. I had the other 4 at the hospital that is now midwifery led, and really want to go this time too but I don't think they'll let me.

Oh boo I'm so sorry to hear that! Honestly, even if there was some herb or medication, I doubt they'd let you do it even experimentally since that's not the way they tend to operate, unfortunately. It is often "once there's a problem, you're always treated like a problem patient" mentality. :/ FX and I am so hoping your next experience is much better!!
