View Full Version : Gender selection - beginning in Melbourne

Hello, my husband and I have decided to travel to Superior ART in Bangkok for PGD IVF in the hopes of having a baby girl. With 2 young sons, I would like to minimise time spent abroad.

Has anyone had any experience and/or contacts for doctors in Melbourne where I can begin the process (blood tests, egg stimulation etc).

Thank you!

Hi,

I'm in Melbourne and cycled at SART in 2015. Am not on the site much anymore, but you are welcome to PM me if you have questions. Are you a dream member? There may be more info in the private discussions.. x

Hi Suzymi

My wife and I are in the same position as you and your husband. We are based in Melbourne with two lovely little boys, and would love our third child to be a girl. It appears we are only a couple of months behind you in your own journey. I would be grateful if you could provide any information you have found regarding (1) starting the process in Melbourne and (2) plans for visiting SArt. Thank you in advance.

Following the conversation with interest. Don't think I'll ever get this over the line with DH unfortunately.
GL on your journeys.

My experience was very positive, we were lucky to have our one XX transfer work and completed our family with a beautiful baby girl who just turned 2.
I found a FS here in Melbourne who helped with ovarian stimulation and my doctor at SART was lovely with very good English. I still had to be very informed of the processes and communicate between the two doctors. I found being a dream member on this site invaluable and would strongly recommend you join if you are seriously considering cycling overseas.
You are welcome to PM me for more info about my journey, xx

I could have written this reply ! Following keenly but unsure it will ever happen .. have you had a conversation with DH about it Mia? I haven’t even gone there yet. I’ve been going to therapy to try and relieve the intense GD I experience nearly every day but while I sometimes get distracted, it always comes back full throttle. I think I’m going to tell DH soon it’s what I want to do. At least then I can close that chapter.

Hello!!

I have 2 boys and about to start the process with in hopes of having a girl. Here is my question:

I currently have birth control implant (nexplanon) in. The plan is to take out this week and wait until EOM for my period and take IVF birthcontrol on cycle day 2. Did anyone experience success with IVF with switch of B/C? I fear this may mess with my cycle because I haven't had a normal cycle yet. But I am so excited to started this process. Should I wait another month? Thank you!

Hi deardaughter, definitely have a look at swaying options. I'm in Melbourne and I actually went to Monash IVF without knowing I was pregnant at the time. With a girl after 2 boys!! Ironic but true. The ivf specialist I went to works closely with one of the best IVF GS clinics n America.

If you need any more information let me know. I have everything crossed for you XX

If IVF is ever an option I always urge you guys to try IVF before swaying. Swaying will always be here, but odds of IVF do not improve with age so it's best to do IVF first and then hopefully you'll get pregnant, but if you don't, then swaying could be investigated at that time.

Good luck!

Thanks so much for your message. I don't believe I can DM you as I am new to this form. Can I ask which doctor at Monash IVF you were going to see? And what was your secret to conceiving a girl? xox

Hi 2boi's, I can't DM as I am a new member to this forum. Can I ask which Melbourne IVF doctor you worked closely with prior to going to SART? did you do the full cycle at SART or just part?

Hi there, first time poster looking for some help! My husband and I are seriously planning to visit SART in the next couple of months to start the GS IVF process to add a little girl to our family. I’d be really interested in hearing from anyone who is happy to share their experience and especially any logistical/planning info around regulating your cycle to start the process. And also any tips for the Thailand component. Unfortunately the closest Aus specialist we could start the process with is in Sydney so anyone with any info/costs would be fab as that’s our last unknown! Many thanks in advance for your time x

Hi Alias, I’d love to chat to you more about your experience and any advice you have. We’re looking at starting the process with SART in the next couple of months and would really appreciate any insight you can provide.

Hi there, I wanted to ask if you started/completed the process and how it went for you? I’m contemplating starting the pill to regulate my cycle enough to plan the travel to Thailand but I’m curious to see how others have gone being on birth control and then starting the process. I hope its all worked for you!

Hi 2boi’s, congratulations on your GS bub! I hope your pregnancy was easy :) can I ask, did you do the entire process in Thailand or some in Melbourne? And did you need to visit for more than one FET process?

Hi Emz, my wife and I are Melbourne based and looking at SART and Jetanin in BKK for GS. We’ve been on this site for a year or so but decided to wait until the start of 2020 before beginning our journey. We’ve received the basic introductory information from both clinics and our main questions are:
1. Is there a fertility doctor who can assist us in Melbourne (so we can cut down the time we need to spend in BKK) as SART only has an affiliated doctor in Sydney; and
2. How long will we need to be in Thailand is we were to complete the entire PGD IVF treatment in one trip? Looks like it would need to be about 6 weeks to complete FET. We can’t afford to be away that long but 2 family trips to BKK from Melbourne will be pricey!

Would love to PM you if you’d like to connect.

Hi Emz01 and bradsp,

I'm new here and cannot send a PM yet but my husband (based in Melbourne) and I are in the exactly same situation as you guys for travelling to SART in BKK for GS early 2020. We are also looking for the answers of your questions but so far no luck. I am happy to share information when we find out more. Thanks!

Reading your post, I’m in same situation. Have you had any luck finding a specialist in Melbourne to start the process?
