Gender Selection USA - From New Zealand - Need help

Hi. I have a friend who lives in Auckland and is going to do gender selection in over the next few months over in LA. She is desperately trying to find an Obstetrician in Auckland or other another city in New Zealand who will re-write out the scripts to dispense the IVF medication so that she can take it with her overseas.

She is probably going to do the whole IVF/PGS cycle in LA however would love to start the first 6-7 days in New Zealand and travel over for the remainder if anyone knows of Fertility clinic who is happy to assist with the initial process. It seems that when you mention the words "Gender selection" they will not help regardless and don't want to be dishonest about what I am using them for. She hasn't decided which Specialist she will go with yet and just wants to be prepared. Has anyone travelled over to LA to see either Dr Potter or Dr Kolb and know who they usually use in Auckland and/or New Zealand to help start the process?

I am in Tauranga and did ivf with Dr Potter 2 years ago. I started my cycle here and went to fertilty associates. I didn't mention gender selection because I didnt want to put them in an arkward situation. I also had my initial scans at a private local radiology clinic. Dr Potters Nurse - Lori did say that they could ship the meds out to me if I couldnt find anyone ro prescibe them here.

Thanks heaps for the info, I will pass it on. A couple of questions....
*. Did you tell them you were going over to LA to do IVF?
*. Did you just inform them that you were doing IVF through them, start the IVF cycle then leave/fly to Dr Potter on day 6
*. Did you just start the initial process and book consultations etc as if you were going to do an ivf cycle through them and leave once you had the IVF medication etc?
* Do you remember who the specialist was at Fertility Associates?
*. When you say that the nurse could send the medication out. Did you mean from the USA to New Zealand?

Just wondering how your friend got on and if she found someone to help her in Auckland?
I am from Auckland also and looking at doing gender selection ivf at HRC next year. I spoke to nurse Lori last year and she told me of a gynocologist in Hamilton who had helped a NZ couple start the process over here before. If your friend still needs details I can pass them on to you.
Hope everything is going well for her! Such a big deal to go through, and especially when we are on the other side of the world!
