Hi guys,
I’m new here and using app so I apologise if there’s links to my questions...
I’m 30 and he’s 32z We currently have 3 boys - 11, 8 and 5 and have decided to try for another and hoping to sway girl.
I haven’t ovulated for last few months since coming off IUD so have been described Clomid for 1 month.
I rarely eat meat anyway and we are trying to diet as much as we can.
We fly to Florida in June (we’re from uk) Ideally we wanted to wait until July to start trying but If you went by Chinese gender then we need to try now, next month or then wait until August. Do people take that seriously? Our boys are all correct but could be fluke. Is there any advice people can give us. If we fell pregnant before holiday it wouldn’t be end of world but just wondering peoples thoughts.
Thankyou

Hiya, u already have a good start with clomid as i believe thats a great thing for swaying pink. If your using clomid now then id try sway maybe...? Ive not read huge amounts on clomid so someone else may be able to confirm.
Secondly, between now and June u have 3 months which is what is the recommended lengh of diet is. U can do less if you want but success is lower i believe. I dont believe in chinese calendar but may well work for some people, maybe i dont inderstand it properly.

I personally started a diet early feb, straight after my AF ended, no breakfast no snacking and tried the same month, sadly didnt get preg and still waiting but this way ive started the diet and now getting onto 12 weeks of it and hopefully increase my chances

Thanks for reply. We’re just trying to lose weight. Do people suggest specific diets though?
Thanks

There are different recommended diets here for swaying, LE low everything, alternative diet, PcOs etc. Im fairly new to all this so cant confirm the one best suited. I know that the key thing is skipping breakfast and no snacking to keep blood sugar levels low. Coffee and fibre as well as alcohol seem to strongly sway. U need to be within limits of calories, fat and protein as the main element.

Oh and having intercourse once in your fertile period is like the best thing one here swaying pink!

Don't ever base anything off the Chinese gender calendar!! There is no science behind it!

My quick aside might be to try the LE plan here and TTC before your trip. Do you plan to enjoy your holiday and eat well, etc.? A few days won't undue the work of the LE, but the LE diet I'd think might take some of the fun out of however long your trip is if you're supposed to keep calories, fat and protein down! Conversely, if you're in the first tri during an overseas trip, you might feel rough, so I don't know if it would behoove you to wait until after. Either way, I'd say time on LE should be the biggest factor. Don't let that calendar influence you at all, especially when there ISN'T any one calendar! That's how big of a scam it is :P

Haha thanks. We didn’t think that would be worth sticking to but thought I’d ask. What’s a LE diet? Maybe I should continue to map ovulation (whilst using protection) and then try when we get home. We would be happy either way but the boys want a sister and it deffo would be a nice change :)

I would deffo start tracking ovulation / signs etc so u have a rough idea for when u do ttc. Its not the same each month but at least gives u a feel of things. Also if u use opks ul get comfy with them, see how long it takes for positive come etc
Good luck

Hi and welcome!

If you want to do diet, we have best results having ladies on it for 12+ weeks. It's 1500-1800 calories, 30-60g fat, 40-50g protein. ALL foods are allowed but it's best to avoid fortified cereals. If you have PCOS, the diet limits will be a little different. We also have great results with one attempt at pos OPK (or just DTD every four days if you'd rather not use OPKs), alcohol, coffee, fiber, cardio, and clomid/femara. Include folic acid/folate as well. It's not for swaying purposes, just for TTC.

Please don't worry about the chinese gender chart. They're full of baloney and if they did work then we could just all use it and get our girl/boy but that's not how it works! None of the charts out there are consistent anyway!

Hi and welcome!

If the Chinese Gender Calendar worked there would not be orphanages full of unwanted baby girls in China. We have done tons of polls and surveys on this and it's always 50-50.

Clomid is a good pink sway! So I'd feel very good about TTC with Clomid!

Can you tell me more about what type of diet you're eating?

I don't think that tracking ovulation is necessary in advance, some people like to do it but just keep in mind that your cycle can and usually WILL change with swaying!

Hi, thanks for reply.

We’ve cut out all full fat dairy and limited meats - I rarely eat it but he likes chicken a lot.
Making sure we drink 2 litres of water a day.
Typical day would be
Berries and low fat yog (around 11)
Homemade soup (butternut squash atm) around 1.30 if needed
Dinner is cod with tinned tomatoes, spinach, broccoli And cous cous, or chicken with salad etc

After looking at link I assume we will have to change diet. We both drink alcohol and have probably 3 coffees a day.

I have bought calcium and magnesium tablets but wasn’t sure what we should take with Clomid. I also didn’t know if I should take folic acid too?
Sorry for the questions, I didn’t realise what a mind-field it is!

Sorry if tracking ovulation was the wrong info as agree it all changes on the diet
I personally kept note of my periods start/length/ finish. Amount of ecwm just to give me understanding of what my body is doing and how much its changes x

Your diet is already pretty LE-style, we just need to make sure you're getting enough. 1500-1800 cals a day, 40-50 g protein, 30-60 g fat. The nutrients in your low carb veg (spinach, broccoli, etc) are FREE and unlimited, you do not count them at all and have as much as you want. In higher carb veg and fruits you count calories ONLY, no protein and fat. So you will need to hit your minimums of protein and fat and cals without counting the fruits, veg as explained above (you may need to eat more!)

Please don't eat fish more than 2x a week while trying to conceive due to the risks of mercury.

Alcohol and coffee :agree: both allowed and good pink sways.

Calcium/magnesium are at your discretion. Personally I got boys with them and gave them up to get my girl, but i know they are hard for many people to give up on them. If you want to use them, it's up to you, just be sure you get the ones without added Vit. D and also do NOT do the super high intake of dairy foods some sources recommend.

Yes everyone needs to take folic acid, it's the only supplement ever shown to prevent birth defects when taken prior to pregnancy.

No worries, it's totally fine! I appreciate everyone's input.

Thanks so much for your help :) would you start taking folic acid if we’re going to try June/July now or wait?

I’m using my fitness pal so il edit amounts so I can make sure I’m at correct amounts.
You have been a huge help. We won’t use the calcium and magnesium. We already have 3 boys and really would love a girl to join us [emoji171]

Yes I'd start it now since eggs take about 3 months to form and folic acid ~may possibly~ help prevent chromosomal defects with the eggs.

Not as long as you're trying to conceive or are in the first trimester of pregnancy.

As we get older, taking high dose folic acid or folate may not be great for a variety of reason I can go into if you'd like, but for you guys in your childbearing years when you are actively trying to conceive it is fine to take.

Do not take it past the first trimester, though. It may be harmful later on in pregnancy so at the end of the first tri, start gradually weaning off by spacing doses further and furhter out till down to the amount in prenatal.
