View Full Version : Positive OPK at 6dpo...

So, I'm pretty sure I O'd about 6 days ago. Had a very positive OPK plus EWCM, etc. OPK became negative after 2-3 days of positives.
Well, today, just for fun, I decided to pee on an OPK. It's was positive. I always do this because I'm addicted to POAS. I always pee on my OPKs during the 2ww and never has it become positive like it did today.
What does this mean, if anything? I've read alot about it and the overall concensus is that you cannot use an OPK as a HPT until AF is late because they are less sensitive that HPTs. But, it's weird because like I said, they are usually always negative when I take them during the 2ww.
Thoughts? :)

wow whats going on, it's happened to 2 other people this month. So it's sounding more and more like the normal thing now.
You could be pregnant :) Good luck.

Really?!?! That is so weird! So...are we pregnant or what? What's going on?!?!? Do you have any symptoms? I have really sore boobs and a zit but I always get those symptoms during the 2ww so it means nothing! LOL

Hmm...Ok, my OPK is negative today. It's still pretty dark (like almost positive), but lighter than yesterday's. I'm starting to think I'm not pregnant. I think my cycles are just starting to get whacked as I get older. :(

I don't think it is pregnancy because it would be too early to be picking up hcg.
Ummm I don't think I am pregnant... no symptoms. Do have a runny stuffy nose but I think it is just hey fever.

Yeah, that's true. It's just weird because normally when I pee on OPKs in the 2ww they are very negative.

*sigh* Well, stupid me decided to pee on a HPT. Of course it was a BFN. I could just be too early, but I really have a feeling I'm still not pregnant. I'm getting so frustrated with TTC. I just want to be pregnant already! I feel like it's never going to happen!:(

were you temping? A +OPK only means you *MAY* ovulate, but if you get stressed or sick or something, that could delay O.

November 13th, 2011, 01:20 PM
No, I wasn't temping. I had all my classic O signs, though. EWCM, etc. So, I think I Od. I don't have any signs of O now.
Anyway, took another HPT today. BFN again. I think I'm only 7dpo so it could be too early but I'm not too hopeful.

Well ladies, BFP today at 10dpo! I'm in shock! So maybe that positive OPK did mean something? Probably not because it turned negative a few days ago but never know!
TTC5 how are you doing? :)

Took about 6 months. I'm not convinced, though, because i took another HPT today and it's lighter. :( Hope that's not a bad sign. So hoping this one sticks!!

Ya know, my thinking is that ok maybe it's not picking up HCG but that doesn't necessarily mean that SOMETHING going on in your body when you're very early in pg is not causing this positive result to happen. Doctors really know very little about the complex communications within our bodies and it is not a reach to me to think that the fertilized egg may communicate with the ovary in some way and that this could be something an OPK can detect. Who knows???

Thanks!
You know what's weird though. I now have a totally and completely NEGATIVE OPK!!! Strange!

Yeah, but it's going to start picking up the HCG soon. Whatever it was picking up before, was something else.

The follicle from which the egg was released is called the corpus luteum, and it will release progesterone that helps thicken and prepare the uterine lining for implantation. The corpus luteum will produce progesterone for about 12-16 days (the luteal phase of your cycle.) If an egg is fertilized, the corpus luteum will continue to produce progesterone for a developing pregnancy until the placenta takes over.

It's interesting because yesterday thre was NO test line at all on my OPK, which kind of worried me because I'm one of those people who always has a faint line! Now, today I have a faint line! I'm definitely going to keep taking the OPKs everyday just because I'm curious when and if it will turn positive!
